Chapter 4

- Samantha's Point of View -

I walked down the beach with Joe, leaning on his shoulder the entire time.

"I will never understand girls," I said, glancing at the blue waves.

There was a big ship out on the ocean and a small fisher boat on the shore, but I couldn't see any fishermen. I dismissed the thought and looked down at my bare feet which were making funny patterns in the sand.

"That's something I'm suppose to say, not you," Joe replied.

I smiled and made a weird chuckling sound.

"I know, but it's true. The only other girl I've known beside Emma is Rowan, and neither of them have ever acted normal...Mood swings I guess."

"Yeah, probably...Hey, they look kinda like some Tarabinthian sailors!" Joe exclaimed, pointing at a group of men off in the distance, walking at a fast pace toward the boat.

There was a tall girl among them and she seemed to be struggling. She looked strangely familiar, but it was hard to tell because they were so far off. Then it dawned on me.

"OH MY GOSH!" I gaped, stopping in my tracks and covering my mouth.

"What?" Joe asked, looking from me to the group that was now at the boat.

"Joe, they have Emma!"

Just then I saw her elbow one of the men and she bolted for the tree line. One of the men ran after her and tackled her to the ground, grabbing her tied hands and forcing her to her feet. She struggled a little, but it was hopeless.

"Joe, THEY'RE KIDNAPPING HER!"

We both immediately bolted for them and when they saw us they quickly pushed the boat into the water.

I bit my lip hard and tried to make my feet move faster, but it was hopeless. We got to the edge of the water just as they made it halfway to the ship and I ran into the water, not caring anymore.

"GO GET HELP!" Emma shouted from the boat, just to be immediately nocked over the head.

I could feel the hot tears running down my face and I just stood there in the shallow water, watching as the boat stopped next to the ship.

I watched as they all boarded the ship, Emma with them, and I started to shout random insults at them, kicking the water with furry.

Joe walked up to me and I immediately buried my face in his shoulder, downright sobbing now.

"Everything's gonna be fine Sammy. We'll go tell Baron Hood and they'll catch them. Come on, let's hurry!" He said softly.

I nodded and wiped the tears away, running onto the beach toward the woods.

- Callum's Point of View -

I talked with Baron Hood for a  while about random things such as strategy training, how to make swords, how steak should be cooked properly; you know, normal guy talk.

Suddenly Joe and Sam rushed in through the doors, not even taking a breath before they both shouted, "EMMA'S BEEN KIDNAPPED!"

For a minute I hadn't realized what they just said, then it hit me like a cannon explosion.

"WHAT?" I was scared for my life...Or more Em's life.

"Emma's been kidnapped. We were walking on the beach and we saw it happen!" Sam exploded.

Her eyes were filling with brand new tears like a pool of water, running down her face in a steady waterfall.

"Where did this happen?" The Baron asked Joe.

"Peregrine beach. I think the kidnappers were from Tarabinthia."

Well that makes sense, I thought. Tarabinthia has always been our enemy.

"What are we going to do?" Sam cried, looking towards the more important aspect.

"How long has it been since you saw them leave?" The Baron asked.

"Maybe 15 minutes," Joe estimated.

"If we hurry we can probably catch them."

Out in the ocean...

We had been sailing for over 6 hours and our chances of finding them were growing thin. It was a misty day and several times we thought we had seen them, but they just disappeared into the fog. We were all straining our eyes, praying that nothing would happen to Em.

"This is hopeless," Sam exclaimed, covering her face with her hands.

I swallowed hard and tried to keep the tears back. I was a young adult and had to keep my head. The most likely destination that they were going to was Tarabinthia, but we couldn't likely sail there, for they'd probably set fire to our ship before we even reached the harbor.

"We're never going to find her now," Sam cried.

"I refuse to believe that," I said stubbornly.

I was willing to go to the ends of the earth before I gave up. I would never stop until I found her.

- Heeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyy guys! So um, sorry this chapter is so short, but this seemed like a good ending. The next update will probably be very soon, mostly because I'm excited to get this story started. Just a heads up, in a few weeks I might be gone for a week or so and most likely won't be able to update. Anyway, hope you liked this chapter, and if you did, votes and comments are appreciated! Thanks :D - Anna
