Chapter 5

- Samantha's Point of View -

I woke up the next morning, spending at least a half hour in my bed before I actually got up. Well, I wasn't the one doing the getting up. Emma had come into my room and jumped on the bed, telling me to get up. Then I realized...It was Sunday! I had to get ready for church! Wait, I thought Emma didn't go to church? Why was she waking me up?

"What are you waking me up for?" I voiced the thought.

"Breakfast is served early on Sundays here. Gives people a chance to...You know...Go to church."

I saw she wasn't entirely comfortable talking about it. Then she got off the bed and was about to pull the blanket off, which I hated. I liked to get out of the comfort of the bed in my own time.

"Alright, alright. I'm up!" I said, slipping out of the covers.

"Hurry up or you'll miss the sunrise." She said.

That was the first time I realized, the sun wasn't actually out yet.

"Alright, I'm a gettin', I'm a gettin'."

I quickly changed in the closest and left my hair down, I didn't usually put it up, and then pulled my shoes on before walking out the door behind Emma. I noticed she wasn't wearing any shoes. It didn't surprise me. I rarely saw her wear shoes. We walked into the library and then out onto the balcony, sitting down just as the orangish red spears of light lifted over the hills. It reminded me of that one morning on the hill, almost two years ago. No, it was two years ago.

"This is kinda like Deja vu, isn't it?" I said, taking in the beautiful sight.

"Yeah..." She answered, dreamily.

I could tell she wasn't really listening to me; but I thought I knew what she was thinking about. Her green eyes didn't move for what seemed like forever, but eventually they looked down. Uh oh, I thought. I sense something is going to ruin the mood, right about...Now!

"Samantha, I need to tell you something." Emma said, right on cue.

"If it's extremely personal or gory, I don't want to hear it right now. I'm enjoying myself and I don't want you to ruin the mood." I answered before she could continue.

"It's neither of those things."

"Really?" I asked, extremely surprised.

"Unless you consider church a personal matter?"

Did she just say what I think she said? I asked myself.

"Tell me, tell me now, spill, and don't stop talking!" I said, not wanting to miss this opportunity.

"It's just that-"

"Hey, we've been looking all over for you." Came Callum's voice as Joe and him came walking through the door.

"Get out!" I growled in a dangerously low voice.

"Oh...O-Okay..." Joe said, pulling Callum towards the door.

"No, Callum, wait...I'll tell you later Samantha. Don't worry, I won't forget."

"Tell her what?" Callum asked.

"Oh, it's nothing."

"Nothing? She just growled at us like a dog with rabies and you call it nothing?"

"Uh...It's just...It's just girl stuff. You wouldn't be interested."

I tried to hold in a laugh. Emma? Girl stuff?

"Really? Emma, I told you, you're a terrible liar."

"Okay fine, I just can't really tell you right now."

"Alright. I just wanted to say that it's time for breakfast." Callum answered.

"Ooo, breakfast. The conversation can wait!" Emma said, running for the door.

- Callum's Point of View -

It felt weird, sitting at the long table along with all the officials and such what. I was across the table from Em and Joe was next to me, across from Sam. We were at the front of table, next to baron Hood's spot (He wasn't there at the moment), and I was not at all use to it. I could see that Em wasn't too comfortable with it either. She looked down are her plate most of the time, barely touching her food. She had been extremely excited for breakfast, but when her dad had said he wanted us to sit at the table, she had looked extremely sober. I wasn't exactly sure why until about five minutes of being at the table. Some of the knights started talking about some orphans that had recently been brought in.

"I heard they brought in some more orphans in." One of them said.

"Huh, yeah. Those brats should be sent to the work houses or something, where they belong."

I saw Em close her eyes and her hand tightened on her fork.

"They have no wright, coming here to our home. They're commoners and should be put in their rightful place."

Sam looked at Joe with a silent message and Em put her fork down, lowering her hands bellow the table top.

"They deserve to be killed." One finally said.

That was too much. They had crossed the line. Em stood up, knocking her chair over in the process and marching strait out of the room, slamming the door behind her. I immediately got up and went after, stopping a minute to slam the knights face into his oatmeal.

-Alright, there you go guys. Or girls. LOL XD. Anyway, I decided to update all my books today and then not get on for the rest of the day since it's Good Friday. I hope you liked the chapter and if you did I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again :D - Anna
