Chapter 4: Demand and comply

Witch's cabin

Remi's rage towards the witch who had burnt his hand and almost killed his only companion was overwhelming him, but he was brought back to his senses with a gentle touch on his back.

"Sir Remi..." Edward said.

The corpse of the witch slid off Remi's bloody arm. Remi noticed that the burn on his hand was gradually healing. (so this is the way demons heal), Remi thought he saw muscle overlapping bone and skin overlapping muscle. It was scary to think he wasn't a normal human anymore.

After the death of the witch, the boys witnessed something strange.

"Coo coo!!!" A sound came from the corpse.

"The hell is that?" Remi asked. A blue and white bird-like creature flew away from the witches and landed on the edge of the cabin.

"I believe it's a chicken sir", Edward answered. The blue chicken then pecked the space behind the cabin, like throwing a stone into a pond. The area rippled behind the cabin and an entire town was revealed. The buildings were falling apart and old.

"What a powerful illusion!" Edward screamed. He was amazed by such a powerful spell. The duo walked into town in hopes of getting answers.

The people of the town were scared and confused. There were only a few men and women around, all looking sickly and drained as if the witch was feasting on their souls.

Edward tried to find out who the chief was, but no one answered.

"Thank you two for saving our little village!" A strange girl comes from nowhere and hugs Edward. This causes the boy to blush.

Remi took a good look at the girl. She wore a torn nun's outfit, but what really shocked him was her catlike features, including her eyes, ears, and tail.

"A beastman, ask them if they know the way to the capital!" Yells Remi.

'Kyaaaah! A demon!" The girl cried out.

"Why you?!" The boy already had a hatred for fluffy animals, he was just about ready to hit her, but Edward stopped him.

"Sorry for what the witch did to you all. Do you know where the capital is? We can ask for their help in rebuilding this place." Said Edward. He took it that the beast girl was the representative of the town.

"Yes, I do; please help us; we need a proper leader here!" She continues to cry.

Edward and Remi looked at each other and nodded in agreement.

Diora kingdom

Kings castle

The people who had come to this world with Remi have been training for the whole time after Remi was confirmed missing in action. Finally, they would become ranked knights. Alex was sporting bronze armor and a brown tunic, along with a bronze mace as well.

"Damn, that training was hell!" Alex exclaimed.

Ali, who was the oldest, acted as the leader of the group. He disliked the armor they used and rather wore traditional silver garments and a white turban and tunic.

"Come on, if we didn't train we might have ended up dead like that guy..." Ali bluntly stated. He was a straightforward guy.

Debora hissed at this comment; she also wore a blue dress with a silver breastplate, and her frizzy hair was even more frizzy now. "I swear, Ali. The way you talk sometimes is so disrespectful!" Debora yelled at him and slapped the back of his head 'Slap!'

Ali yelped at the pain and glared daggers at Debora, who gave him a similar glare. Feeling the tension skyrocket, Elisa took the stage.

"Hey, fellas, Remi might still be alive; his body hasn't been found yet, so there's still hope!". She was an optimist at heart, a kind soul; she could recall the boy staring at her but never dared to talk to him.

She wore a red tunic and a bronze breastplate, her brown hair was cut to ear length and was puffing upwards.

Finally, Amaka, the Igbo girl, stood silently wearing a blue gown that showed off her body structure well and a wizard hat. These 5 people were from different tribes and had different backgrounds yet they acted as a team.

They enter the throne room, a massive hall covered with golden ornaments on the walls and red tiles on the floor. About 20 knights clad in bronze armor, stood on guard, 10 each on the left and right sides of the room. The king sat on his golden throne, his tiny goblin legs barely touching the floor. To his right stood Victor, the royal adviser, and to his left his 3 children. They had features both of a goblin and a human, meaning they were half-breeds, all wearing royal garments. The eldest was a strong-looking woman with pink hair on the right side of her head while the other part was shaved. The second born was a skinny-looking man with a dangerous look on his face; his blue hair covered his eyes a bit, but the red goblin glow could still be from his pupils. Finally, the last born was a lot fatter than the other two. He could be compared to a balloon with his green hair in a buzz cut, he seemed to be munching on a chicken wing.

Seth, the king of the Diora kingdom, stood up to greet the 5 new knights. Still wearing his kingly robes, he raised his green hand and saluted them. Alex and the rest bent a knee as a sign of greeting.

"I'm glad that many survived. We only had one casualty, this time you five. Before you can be sorted, we have to wait for the 3 guild masters to arrive, but damn why are they so late?" Seth asked.

At that moment, the door of the throne room was kicked open 'bammm!'.

"You mean six! I'm not dead yet!" An angry voice shouted. That voice belonged to Remi. Before anyone could move a muscle, Remi had run past the guards and the 5 others and was currently standing in front of King Seth; despite his low-speed stats, he managed somehow.

His appearance was that of an enraged beast with glowing blue eyes. What was even more strange was that a single blue horn had spouted from the right side of his forehead.

"Goblin king guy! Did you know this was going to happen to me when you sent me into the wild?! Was it part of your plan for me to get possessed by a damned demon?!" Remi shouted.

"Partly I hoped it would be a different demon that would possess you, but I guess the wrath demon won't leave Diora until he destroys more families," Seth said calmly.

Remi was confused. He wanted to be angry but he also wanted to know why Seth knew exactly what demon had possessed him, "what?".

"Sir Remi, stop. If you're too rash, they'll kill you!" Edward shouted. He looked exhausted from running after Remi. Before the demon boy could turn...

Three shadows blitzed past Edward and apprehended Remi. A thick metal rope coiled around Remi's body, holding him firmly and pinning him to the ground. Remi saw that one of the 3 shadows who caught him was a woman with dark pink hair and red armor. Next to her was a crimson-haired man with blue armor looking pissed at Remi's entire being. And a rather short man with dark blue hair combed into 2 spikes at the back of his head.

"After 10 years, your wrath is still burning strong," the woman said.

"This time I'll be sure to suck the hell out of your soul, demon!" The crimson-haired man shouted.

The short man remained silent. Remi's right horn started to grow and hurt him even more. This wasn't just a result of the anger Remi was feeling now but was a past vandalism being reignited.

"Hold on just a minute, you Three, I'll handle this," Victor said as he touched Remi's shoulder. As he did this, the metal binding Remi was disintegrated, and the boy was freed.

As Remi stood up, he saw the fearsome gazes of everyone around him, ranging from the guards to the children of Seth. He also shot the same angry gaze back at them.

As Victor was about to take Remi to a different room then.

"You're Remi, right? I am glad you're okay" Elisa spoke up and smiled. The 4 others came out to see him as well.

A disgruntled Remi then replied, "Who are you people?" He legitimately forgot; he wasn't to blame because all this time, he had been fighting for survival in this mad world.

Elisa felt disheartened at the realization that Remi didn't remember her and the others, as he left them behind.

"You shouldn't be mean to your friends, sir," Edward purely stated.

"I don't consider anyone in that room my friend!" Remi shot back, his mind blinded by the hate and wrath of the demon dwelling inside him.

Victor opened the door to a room with 20 chairs stacked on the right side, quite far from the throne room. As Remi and Edward entered the room, a bald figure closed the door behind them. Remi, recognizing the figure, then let out a shout.

"You! Where were you when I was almost killed by that cultist!" At this point, tears of anger were gushing out of Remi's eyes, and Edward tried to console him by petting his back.

The Bald knight bent a knee and lowered his head to Remi. "I'm sincerely sorry, I believed at the very moment you were attacked, a demon would have possessed you, that's what I was told, to make it up to you, hit me..."

'waaam!' Before he finished his sentence, Remi had planted a boot into the Knight's left cheek and sent him flying into the stack of chairs.

"Sir Remi!" Edward shouted.

"That felt so good!" Remi said, his smile was diabolical.

"That's the wrath demon for you. Rank means nothing in the face of pure power", Victor said. He clapped his hands at the display of force. The knight was knocked unconscious by the kick and remained immobilized.

"Rem.. no you do deserve a title after all the trouble I put you through", Victor corrected. "Sir Remi, it's true I told the knight not to rush to help you, but that's because 'only those in need of help can be given the power of demons' An angel told us that, ever since then we've been holding this test of strength, sadly it doesn't always work. But this time I'm amazed at how you can use that power", Victor continued, not feeling bad at all about turning a boy into the host of a demon.

"Well, thanks to that, I now have an urge to kill almost anything that irritates me! You better have something to compensate me!" Remi had come to terms with the fact that he would never be separated from the demon for as long as he lived and just wanted some closure.

"Name your price. Anything in my power will be yours!" Victor said again, smiling.

Remi took a deep breath and said, "Give us a village."
