18- Surprise visitor

Victoria, and Dalton walked into the clinic together with Victoria not caring what anyone thought. After her talk with Dalton she didn't want to lose out on the only man that has ever shown her love, attention, and what it feels like to be cared by someone. Danielle had a smile on her face thinking it was about time they quit hiding from everyone. She stopped Dalton as they walked by, asking him how his father was.

"He's stable, thanks for asking." he says, approaching her. "Any messages?" he asked, leaning over the desk. Figuring with all his cancellations earlier, there had to be someone that wanted him to call them back.

"No, most saw Doctor Johnson, but there were a couple patients that wanted to see only you, and wanted to reschedule... but there was someone here looking for Victoria."

"Who was that?" he asked, looking worried, thinking Brayden was here wanting to cause trouble.

She shrugged her shoulders, and turned her head towards Lindsay. "Do you know who that guy was looking for Victoria?"

"No clue, never saw him before." Lindsay responded, while looking at Dalton. "Although he did look a little bummed that she wasn't here."

Danielle looked up at Dalton, and shook her head "No clue, I've never seen him before either, and he never left his name."

"What did he say?" he asked, feeling concerned.

"That he'll stop by another time, and that he had somewhere else he needed to be. By the way he was acting, it was almost urgent he needed to see her."

"Thanks." Dalton walked away scratching the back of his head, curious as to who would be looking for her. Knowing she had worked at the clinic for the last six years, and found it odd nobody knew who he was.

He went into his office, and sat in his chair staring at his phone, and then over to the file he had out earlier. He picked up the phone, opened the file, and called his patient back, letting her know he was going to be there for another hour or so, and that if she wanted to come in now, she could.

Tiara turned, and looked at Victoria she was happy to hear Dalton's dad was all right, but was curious as to what she had to say to her. Hoping it was nothing bad, and something positive for once. "Victoria? Earlier you said you wanted to talk to me, what was that all about?"

"It's about Dalton, and I..." she says, while entering numbers into the computer. Then double checked what she entered, hit send, and turned around, smiling. "I've decided to move in with him, and if it's alright with you, I was wondering if it would be alright if he came over tonight, and helped me grab my belongings?"

"You're finally doing it." she said happily. It wasn't that she was happy about her moving out, but was happy to hear she was taking a step further with Dalton. She loved seeing the two together, loved how they argued knowing it was all in fun, and loved how the two could pick on each other, without the other getting offended, or upset by it. "I'm glad to hear that, you two deserve each other, and I only wish the two of you had met years ago."

"Me too." she hummed, with a big smile. "Being with Brayden took years off my life, and made me leery of meeting someone new. He always told me I would never find anyone like him... he's got that right that's for sure... I found someone better." she giggled.

"Has he even contacted you?"

"Once, after the police officer moved in. He was upset I moved out without telling him, and that I allowed a cop to move in with him."

She laughed. "I thought he knew you were moving out, especially when you met the guy there."

"You would have thought, but he was still drunk from the night before, it probably didn't sink in... oh well, I'm happy I'm out of there. I couldn't stand to look at him anymore."

"Victoria, can I see you for a moment?" Dalton says, as he peeked his head through the door, stopping the two from talking. He looked at Tiara, and assured her he wouldn't take much of her time.

Victoria followed him to his office, thinking something bad happened, and after he shut the door, she noticed he had a questionable look on his face, and reached for him, giving him a hug. "I hope everything is all right?" she said sounding worried. Thinking it had something to do with his father, until he pulled away looking at her concerned, and moved his hands along the facial stubble that was beginning to show on his cheeks and chin, wondering how to ask if she had been expecting anyone to come in, looking for her. "Danielle, and Lindsay mentioned someone was here looking for you. Were you expecting someone?"

"No not that I know of... it wasn't Brayden, was it?" she asked, looking confused.

"No, according to them, it was someone they never saw before..." Hmmm... he hummed, resting his hands on his hips, thinking. "You're not in any kind of trouble, are you?"

Her eyes widened, shocked to hear him ask such a thing, then gave him a dirty look. "Oh, God no! I've never been in trouble in my life! Where would you get that from?"

"I was only asking, and was only trying to figure out who would be here looking for you, when nobody has ever seen him before, and how he wouldn't leave his name." he says, raising his hands, trying to calm her down.

She didn't care for being questioned the way she was, and how he made her look like she was hiding something from him. She had no clue who would come to her place of employment, asking for her, and then to not leave a name. "I have no clue, and I don't appreciate the way you're asking me questions like I'm deceiving you." She walked over to the door, and stared at the doorknob before opening the door. "I guess we'll find out if he comes back, but I'm going back to my office to finish some of those files. I want to be able to leave at a decent time tonight, and go to Tiara's to start moving my things out of there, unless you've changed your mind on me moving in?"

"Don't be silly." he says, walking towards her. He placed his hand on top of hers, and removed it from the doorknob, pulling her to him. He then wrapped his arms around her not wanting her to leave the room upset because of him asking questions. He looked her in the eyes, and as he stared into them, he started chuckling.

"What are you laughing about?" she asked, frowning.

"I just thought of the comment my father said to you, about your eyes...how they're as blue as the water in his toilet bowl at home." he smiled, and chuckled again after seeing her smirk. "That's the best line I've heard my dad say to anyone, I'll have to remember that one."

"Your dad is a character, that's for sure." she giggled. "But I better get back to work, and don't be thinking I'm hiding anything from you. I haven't met any men recently, and I have no need or interest to."

A grin crossed his face, feeling better hearing her say that, and knew he needed to quit thinking the worse. Just because Krista left him, doesn't mean she will too. "OK, but you're not leaving before I get me one of these." he says, pressing his lips hard against hers, giving her one hell of a kiss, that had her feeling warm inside, and her stomach fluttering. Wanting to give him a little tease, she unzipped his pants, and placed her hand inside his shorts, holding onto his shaft that had instantly hardened the moment her hand wrapped around it. She pulled away from his lips, and lowered her head as she whipped his willy out, wrapping her mouth around it, and sucked on it for a second like a lollipop, then abruptly pulled away.

"See ya later." she giggled as she stood, and turned to the door.

"You big tease." he groaned, as he quickly put his stuff away before she opened the door.

She saw a shadow peeking through between the bottom part of the door and the floor, and furrowed her eyebrows. She opened the door quickly and rushed out, purposely trying to run into whoever was behind the door spying on them. "Oops, sorry." she says nonchalantly, seeing it was Danielle who she ran into. She started walking away from her, then stopped, and turned around. "By the way, who was here looking for me?"

"I have no idea, I didn't recognize him at all, but he was tall, dark haired, and was nicely dressed in a suit... pretty sexy, and handsome if you were to ask me."

"Huh." she says turning around, wondering who it could be. As she walked toward her office, she turned her head looking at her again, and watched her walk into Dalton's office. For some reason, she had a feeling Danielle knew who it was by the look in her eyes, and felt she was playing some sort of game with her. She walked into her office, and looked at Tiara, "Did you know someone was here looking for me earlier?" she asked as she sat down.

"I heard something about someone in here looking for you, but I didn't see who it was. At first, I thought it was Brayden, but was then told it wasn't him."

"Danielle just mentioned, that he was tall, dark haired, sexy, and that he was dressed in a suit... I have no idea who it would be, and it kind of scares me a little."

"I wouldn't worry about it; it could be someone Brayden sent here to check on you."

"Even scarier." she sighed.

Later that night as Victoria was moving her things out of Tiara's, she couldn't stop thinking about who was there looking for her. Every time she brought her things out to her car, she looked around making sure she wasn't being followed, or spied upon. Dalton noticed how nervous she looked, and walked up behind her as she was placing clothes inside her car, and wrapped his arms around her stomach. "Don't worry, I'll protect you." he said softly into her ear.

"I know." she sighed, leaning her head back onto his chest. "I just can't think of who it would be, and if it's Brayden sending someone over to check on me, then I'll go and talk to that police officer that moved in with him, asking if I can put a restraining order on him." She turned around, and sighed hard "He's going to make things difficult for me, isn't he?"

"No, not if I step in. I've been holding back for a while, but if I have to, I'll be sure he knows he's messing with the wrong woman... especially my girl."

******

Three days later, Victoria was walking toward the front to talk with Danielle, when she heard a familiar voice coming from the front, and stopped walking to listen. It can't be, it just can't be... she mumbled quietly, trying to listen to the voice again. She heard him demanding that she allow him to see her, then heard Danielle tell him to walk into the back, and where her office was.

Dalton saw Victoria standing in the hallway, looking like she was a zombie, and started walking toward her, to see if she was alright. "Victoria? Why are you just standing there?" She held her hand up, hushing him.

The door opened, and took one look at the man walking through the door. Her heart immediately started beating faster, and caused her body to shake with excitement. "OH MY GOD!" She ran to him, and jumped into his arms, hugging him tightly. "I thought you were dead!"

"How have you been?" the man asked her, smiling, and squeezing her tight.

Dalton felt his whole world come crashing down with his heart sinking into his stomach, as he witnessed Victoria excitedly jump into the arms of another man. He didn't know what to say, or do, and wanted to go over to them, to rip her out of his arms, and to deck the man in the face. He took a deep breath and turned around, feeling this wasn't the place to cause a scene, and started heading toward his office.

"Dalton!" she called out. He turned his head as he was walking, and felt sick to his stomach when he saw tears in her eyes, and stopped walking when she dropped to the ground, pulling the man over to him. "I have someone I want you to meet."

"Not interested." he growled, and continued walking.

She tilted her head to the side, confused at what his problem was, and called out his name again, asking for him to quit walking away from her. He stopped, and closed his eyes. "Why should I?"

She realized he was upset, and then it hit her, thinking it was some random guy coming in to see her, and to take her away from him. "Dalton, please quit walking away from me... I want you to meet my brother." she said quietly, while wrapping her arm around his, and spinning him around. He swallowed hard, breathed in deep, and shook his head, disappointed in himself for acting like a fool once again.

Her brother extended his arm out, and smiled. "Hi, I'm Rhett... and you are?"

"Dalton... nice to meet you." he says relieved, while shaking his hand. "Come, follow me, we can go into my office to talk." He walked them into his office, and had him sit in the chair in front of his desk. "I have to apologize for my behavior, I thought you were someone else."

"Rhett... Dalton, and I have been seeing each other for a few months now, and I'm sure he thought you were here to take me away." she giggled softly. She looked at Dalton, and smiled "Sorry, it looked the way it did, but I haven't seen him for seven years now."

"Eight years." Rhett corrected her.

"Eight years?" Dalton said surprised. "Wow, that's quite a long time."

"I was in the army, and have been overseas since she was eighteen. While being overseas, I took on a teaching job, teaching English, as well as helping the sick and the homeless, and haven't been home since."

Dalton looked up at Victoria, and smiled. Not only did she have a good heart, he realized he did too, and felt it must run in their family. "Thank you for your service, and again I apologize if I looked like an ass, or as Victoria would put it, an asshole." he chuckled.

"He's got that right." Victoria says, giggling.

"All good man, I'm glad to hear she left that punk she was with. The stories I heard about him from mom, had me wanting to take a special trip back to Colorado, and to knock some sense into the little weasel."

"Something I've been wanting to do for a while. The stories she has told me, I was surprised she stuck with him for as long as she did." Dalton says, standing and removing his jacket. He was feeling hungry, and felt there was a better place where they could talk, than in the office where others could listen in and looked at Victoria. "How about we go get some dinner, and talk some more. Sound good?"

"Sure." she looked down, and twisted her lips "What about mom, have you seen her yet?"

"I've been staying with her... and before you get all worked up, I asked her to remain quiet and to not say anything to you so I could surprise you."

Dalton chuckled, "I take it she's known for getting worked up?"

"No." she said crossing her arms. "He's lying."

"I beg to differ." Dalton says chuckling, and looked over at Rhett with a smile. "I figured her out from day one, that she was one who easily got worked up, and I fed on it. I found her extremely attractive, and sexy whenever she got worked up, or angry. And I would do, or say anything just to see her get pissed."

Rhett laughed, while nudging Victoria. "Man, I would have loved to see that, you are pretty funny when you're upset. She used to get so mad at me whenever I picked on her while we were growing up. Then there was that one time, when she came after me with a baseball bat... let's just say that was the end of that."

Victoria covered her face, feeling embarrassed. "I was like thirteen, and you were showing my bras and panties to your friends. You deserved me going after you with that." She lowered her hands, and looked at Dalton. "Please don't judge me, we were young, and he was a fucking ignorant clown."

"No judging, just loving what I'm hearing." he smiled. "Sounds like he's someone I could easily get along with."

Hope the chapter was OK, and you enjoyed it!🤞🤞🤞🤞
