1- Morning blues
Victoria's eyes were closed, and still somewhat asleep when she felt Brayden's arm wrap over her, and tightly pulling her against him. When she felt his hardness pressed against her ass, she groaned, and shoved his arm off her "Brayden, I'm not in the mood, go back to sleep."
He wrapped his arm back over her, and leaned forward, placing kisses along her neck while poking himself harder against her body, hoping to get her in the mood "Can't you feel that? It can't wait, he needs you." he begged, whispering in her ear.
She let out a deep sigh, rolled onto her back, and opened her eyes wanting to say something to him until his lips crashed to hers, muffling her sounds as she began to speak. Her eyes immediately closed the moment his body rolled on top of hers, kissing him back, and tasting the stale beer on him from the night before. As he thrusted himself into her, she gasped, then had a feeling of emptiness inside her, as she no longer felt the pleasures, or the love, she once had for him before.
Her eyes opened, and stared off over his shoulder, while lying there limp like a log, as he pounded himself into her, wondering why she was allowing this to happen between them. Lately he had become sloppy when it came to sex, there was never any foreplay, and it always seemed like a wham bam thank you ma'am type of sex. She had many feelings running through her mind about their relationship, and it got to the point that having sex with him became more of a chore.
She was trying her hardest to enjoy every minute of it, but in the back of her mind, she couldn't wait for him to get done. After months of coming home late from work, and seeing their apartment a mess, empty beer cans piling up on their coffee, and end tables, along with his friends over playing video games every day, she was growing more frustrated.
Four months ago, he lost his job, and instead of going out looking for work, he thought it would be alright to sit around, play video games, and get drunk all day with his friends. She worked hard, stayed late as needed, and went into work on the weekends, just to make ends meet. Sure, he was getting unemployment checks, but was only receiving a check once a month, and the moment he got his check, it was spent.
After his orgasm was over, he rolled onto his back, pulled her in his arms, and smiled "Love you, babe."
Without saying a word, she rolled out of his arms and onto her side with her back facing him, and reached for her phone to see the time "I've got to go get ready for work." she said, restrained. She was tired of being the bread winner, and working her ass off, just so he could sit home, be lazy, and do the things he's been doing.
As she got out of bed, he reached over, and slapped her on the ass "Have a good day at work."
She rolled her eyes, and took a deep breath, trying to refrain from snapping at him so early in the morning "What are your plans today?" she questioned tiredly, while putting on her robe. She turned around when he didn't respond, and felt anger run through her when she saw him with his one hand behind his head, and the remote in his other hand, flipping through the TV channels "Brayden? Seriously, what are you doing today?"
Without looking at her, and continuing to stare at the TV, he spoke like it was no big deal "Kent, Richard, and Tucker are coming over to finish the tournament we're in... why?"
"Tournament?" she huffed, snatching her clothes she had set out the night before "Maybe because I thought you were going to finally go out and look for a damn job, that's why... I cannot do this by myself anymore, I literally have no life!" she yelled, slamming the door behind her as she headed towards the bathroom.
Gee... someone woke up crabby I see. he muttered.
While in the shower, it took all her strength to refrain from crying. She didn't know what to do with him anymore, she was afraid to kick him out, and was worried since he wasn't working that he wouldn't have a place to go. After taking a long hot shower, she got dressed, brushed her teeth, and left her apartment as fast as she could.
In her car, she quickly put on her make-up, then without thinking, she started backing out of her parking spot, and stopped when she saw her neighbor walking behind her, nearly hitting him "Sorry!" she yelled, as she buzzed her window down.
"It's alright, I saw you." he says. He walked over to her, placed his hands on the roof of her car, and leaned down "Say, I've been meaning to talk to you anyway."
She looked away from him, and looked at the time, hoping it wouldn't take long so she could get to work, and finish getting ready "Oh? What about?" she nervously asked, having a feeling it had to with Brayden.
"I figured I would have a talk with you first, instead of going to management to complain. I know you work all day, and I'm sure you have no clue what's going on during the day..."
"No, actually I don't" She looked back his way, and sighed "What is he doing?"
"Well, from what my wife has been saying, he's been coming over drunk, asking if we have any alcohol he could borrow, being obnoxious with his friends, partying, playing music loudly, and there's also been a lot of yelling..."
Feeling embarrassed, she lowered her head, and closed her eyes "I'm sorry, I know you have little ones that nap during the day... I'll make sure to have a talk with him when I get home."
He knew it wasn't her fault, and felt bad for bringing it up, but he felt he had to say something to her before his wife went above his head, and complained to management. He stepped back, smiled, and patted the roof of her car "Thanks."
This just added to her growing frustrations, and on her way to work, she thought about what she was going to say to him when she got home. The only thing she could come up with was, she was going to have to give him an ultimatum, either find a job, or move out. As she walked into the office, she quickly walked past her co-workers, and headed into the restroom.
She pulled her hair back into a bun, pulling out some strands of her hair to accent her look, touched up her make-up, then looked at herself in the mirror, and muttered This is going to be a long fucking day... I just know it.
She headed into the back part of the office and sat down, organizing her space, and sighed.
"Rough night?" Tiara asked.
"Just a little." she said, speaking softly. She lowered her head, and placed her face in her hands "It's Brayden... he still hasn't attempted to find a job. I blew up on him this morning, and I'm this close to kicking him out." she said, holding a couple of her fingers out, showing Tiara she's about had it with him.
"Girl, if I were you, I'd kick his ass to the curb. You're a pretty girl, you can find someone much better than him, one who cares about you."
"I would, but without him having a job, he has nowhere to go. Nobody would allow him to move in, without having an income." Uncovering her face, she looked over at Tiara, and saw the expression she was giving her "Please, don't give me that look."
"Why would you even think about worrying about him? He obviously doesn't care what you think, so why would you even worry if he has a place to go? I'm sure he could always move in with one of his friends." Victoria knew she was right, and needed to quit making excuses for him. She still had a place in her heart that was telling her she still loves him, but then again, felt she isn't in love with him, and looked away to answer the phone.
Tiara couldn't believe what she was hearing and shook her head, she walked over to her, and leaned into her ear, reminding her of who was coming in "By the way, that new doctor starts today."
She nodded, and continued talking with the patient on the other end of the line. While looking up the patients account, she heard the door open, and heard Tiara gasp from behind her. She looked away from the computer, and quietly gulped when a young good-looking man walked in, and over to her holding out his hand "Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself... I'm Doctor Jones."
She put the patient on hold, looked at him, and shook his hand "Nice to meet you, I'm Victoria."
"Beautiful name." he winked.
She rolled her eyes, and sighed "I don't think so, but that's just me." she said somewhat smiling.
Tiara quickly reached across Victoria, and held out her hand "And I'm Tiara." she says smiling ear to ear. She was in awe with what she was seeing, and couldn't believe there was a hot new doctor in the office.
"Nice to meet you both." He turned, and looked around, checking the room out. He wasn't impressed with the way the room looked, there were files piled up on their desks, the walls were cracking, paint was chipping off the walls, and the carpeting looked like it was older than dirt "Looks like we need to do a little remodeling in this room." he says with furrowed eyebrows.
Victoria and Tiara looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders, Victoria looked back at him, and smiled "It's not that bad, nobody sees it."
"I will be... now that I own this clinic, a lot of things will be changing around here... like those files piled on both your desks, I expect those to all be coded, billed, and filed before you leave." he says, pointing.
Victoria's smile quickly faded, and thought maybe he isn't such a great guy after all. Tiara side smiled, and slowly sat down while looking at the files on her desk. She turned and looked at Victoria "I had no clue he bought the place... this'll be interesting." she said quietly after he left the room.
"Just one more thing I needed in my life... being around another asshole."
Throughout the day, Victoria's phone rang, text messages were coming in, and after Tiara left the room, she finally looked at her phone. Seeing it was Brayden, and what he was saying, she became angry, and started texting him back, texting as fast as she could. She then froze when she suddenly felt a hot breath of air along her neck "Are you on break?"
She quickly set her phone onto her lap, looked up, turned her head, and saw a pair of hazel eyes staring over her shoulder "Ah, no..." she stuttered, feeling her heart drop.
He set a stack of folders down in front of her, and leaned into her ear "I suggest you put your phone away during work hours. I need for you to enter these into the system, bill them out, then filed to where they belong."
"I was just..."
"Do your job." he says, walking away from her.
She turned, and looked both ways, making sure he was gone, and picked up her phone. She finished typing her message, and threw her phone on the desk. Looking at the stack of files he placed in front of her that added to the pile, she starting cussing under her breath, and stood up "That's it, I quit!"
Tiara's eyes widened when she walked back in, and heard Victoria "You're not quitting." she insisted, as she rushed over to her "Now what happened?"
Victoria looked over at the files, and pointed "Doctor Jekyll, or whatever the fuck his name is, just handed me another stack of files he wants done before I leave, and then I have Brayden who has been calling, and texting me... wanting me to bring a case of beer home... I just want to run away, far enough way, where no one can find me."
Tiara looked around the room, and smiled "Give the new doctor a break, it's his first day, and I'm sure he wants the place running smoothly. You have to admit, the one who owned this place before him, didn't give a rats ass about anything... as for Brayden, tell him to kiss your ass."
Victoria laughed silently, and sat down "Easier said, than done."
Hours later, Victoria was feeling hungry, and looked at the time. Seven o'clock she whispered. She did what she could to get some of the files finished, but just couldn't stare at the computer any longer. She turned the computer off, cleaned her area, and started heading out of her office. The moment she got to the front door to leave, she heard a voice say her name, and stopped.
She turned around, and cleared her throat as she watched Doctor Jones walk closer to her "Did you get all those files finished?"
"No... but I'll be here first thing in the morning."
He stopped walking, placed his hands on his hips, giving her a look that had her feeling nervous "Well, don't you think you should finish them before you leave?"
"You can't be serious?" she asked, raising her voice "Did you see all those files? I would be here all night!" She stared him down, and thought to herself, for someone as good looking as he, he was awfully ugly on the inside, and wanted to punch him dead in the face. All day she had to listen to him complain about the building, how the entire place just needed to be gutted and remodeled, as well as ordering her around, and telling her what he wanted done before she left. She wasn't having it any longer, and felt like giving him a piece of her mind.
She walked up to him, got in his face, and poked at his chest "I'm going home this minute, and you cannot stop me. I have important things to get done at home, and I'm not staying here all night just because you said I had to, so go piss up a rope." she snapped, and turned on her heel "I'll be in early." She walked out the door, feeling good that she finally stood up for herself Now... to do that with Brayden she muttered, while walking to her car.
Once she got home, she stepped out of her car with her head held high, and was ready to tell Brayden that if he didn't find a job within a week, they were over. She opened the door to her apartment, stepped one foot inside, and stopped. Her mouth dropped, and stood there in shock "Oh my fucking..."
