F O U R

IT'S BEEN TWO YEARS SINCE ANNABETH BECAME A GODDESS.

And things are pretty peaceful. Well as peaceful as things can get when you're a demigod.

That's why it didn't surprise me to get a summons to Olympus out of nowhere. One minute, I was sitting in my apartment in New Rome and the next I'm standing in front of the Olympians.

'Perseus, we have summoned you her-'

'Yeah, yeah. I know you summoned me, Zeus. Just tell me why already, I was in the middle of studying for my math exam tomorrow.' I say, rolling my eyes.

Zeus looks like he's about to zap me to pieces with that lightning bolt of his but I really don't care. I finally understood some calculus nonsense... And now I don't remember it. I groan silently as Zeus carries on.

'We have decided to bind your soul to Chiron's.'

Um, WHAT? WHAT THE ACTUAL SCHIST DID HE JUST SAY?

'What?' I ask him as Athena rolls her eyes and snaps her fingers. Chiron appears next to me, in his wheelchair.

'Greetings, Olympians. Will we be discussing the matter of the soul binding today?' He says, bowing his head. The gods nod as Athena starts to explain.

After her boring lecture which I'm surprised did not include a Powerpoint presentation and index cards, I got the gist.

Apparently, the gods had decided that Chiron was in need of someone to help him train the demigods... Well duh, none of the gods can keep it in their pants. Chiron was bound to need help. They decided to choose someone who would too live like Chiron, if there were demigods to train, he would be alive to do just that.

So, I got the job. Mainly because I'm awesome... Well, I'm not. I couldn't have done half the things I've done without my friends. But anyway, they also decided to bind my soul to Chiron's because they're mad that I refused their offer to become an Olympian.

'Understood, boy?' Zeus asks me as I nod my head. I'm skeptical about the whole idea, it would be different if Leo, Frank, Hazel or someone had accepted immortality because then I could be with them. But then again, I have Annabeth.

WAIT A DAM MINUTE... I get to be with Annabeth for the rest of time? That's awesome, but what about Paul, Mom and Estelle? I can't leave them, but this is an amazing proposition too.

'You shall tell us your decision by tomorrow.' Zeus says as I roll my eyes.

'No.'

'No? WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY NO, BOY?'

'I mean no. Sheesh, no need to get your boxers in a twist. I need time to think about this, I have people I need to talk to before I make the decision which will change my life.'

Let's just say that Zeus was this  close to burning me to a crisp after that but no need to worry, I'm fine.

'So they want yours and Chiron's life forces to be the same?' My mom asks through the Iris-Message. I nod my head and she takes a breath.

'Percy, at the end of the day it's your decision. If going to Elysium with all of your friends is what you want to do, do it. If staying here with Annabeth and helping demigods is what you want to do, do it. I support you either way. We support you either way.' She says, smiling. I smile back and say ok, slashing my hand through the projection.

What am I going to do? On one hand, being at camp, helping future generations of demigods and legacies would be amazing. But being done with all of this would be amazing too.

But training, being camp counselor... That's a dream come true. There's so much I want to add to camp, so many demigods I want to save. I run my hands through my hair and groan.

If I go through with this, I will see people die... But, Chiron would be there? It would be awesome to lead camp with him and I would have Annabeth.

I would have Annabeth, of course... I would have her for all of eternity.

My mortal anchor. My Wise Girl.

Looks like my decision is made.
