Chapter 2 - Confessions or not

To confess or not to confess?

I had literally gone through  a whole bouquet of roses and I  still didn't have the courage to tell Caleb that I was hopelessly and crazy in love with him.

Natalie even pretended she needed to go to the ladies room when it was time for us to go on the ferries wheel.

I knew she just wanted to give me a chance to be alone with him which I was thankful for but now I feel more embarrassed than thankful for anything.

Thank goodness I'm not white because I think I would have lit up the whole park with a seriously red glow.

"Having fun?" Caleb had asked when we were at the top. 

"Yes" I responded as I looked away because I knew I was blushing. Natalie made made the situation worse when she sent me a text message.

Oh my gosh. Caleb looks crazy handsome and he just smiled. HE JUST SMILED AT ME. OH MY GOSH. I CAN'T BREATHE. SOMEONE SAVE ME.

This is now or never. I took a deep breath.

"So..." we both said at the same time before looking at each other in shock.

"Jinx" we both spoke in unison but laughed this time. We actually did that a lot. More reasons I believed he was my soul mate.

"You go first" he said before flashing his killer grin. He shot me straight in the heart and I couldn't breathe.

"Soooo...I have wanted...wanted to say this for a while now..." I took another deep breath "I really reallly...really like..."

All of a sudden the ferris wheel shook and I screamed in a panicked state thinking I was going to fall to my death.

It took me a few seconds to realise there was a hand wrapped around my waist and my hands were holding onto his shoulders.

I slowely opened my eyes and Celebs face was at least two inches away from mine. The distance between us had been eliminated and I could feel his breath on my lips.

Caleb was tall but I was almost the same height (one of the reasons I was never bullied when I was younger)  so we were gazing directly into each others eyes.

Because I was still in a bit of shock  (and bliss)  it took me a while to realize his lips were moving.

"Zoey" he called my name again.

"Yes" I was forced to look away from his kissable lips to his dazzling eyes.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"Yes" i responded as if my brain could only work well enough to only process one word at a time. I was a straight 'A' student but Caleb had the ability to turn me into an idiot who had forgotten simple English vocabulary.

"You can let go of me now" he said and I immediately remembered our current physical situation and immediately let go of him before shuffling a few inches away in embarrassment.

Apparently in my state of shock I had thrown myself into his arms. How embarrassing.

"I'm sorry" I quickly apologized.

"No worries. What are friends for?" He said with a smile.

"Yeah friends" I swallowed a lump in my throat because that was the last thing I wanted to hear from him. He only saw me as a friend.

What did I expect?

"What do you like?" He asked.

"What?" I asked a bit confused.

"You were about to tell me what you like" he explained.

"Oh yeah...I really...really like... I really like fireworks" I said as I forced a laugh. So much for my great confession.

"Fireworks are at 8PM. We can stay longer if you want to see them. I also like them" he said with his usual smile.

"Awesome. I would like that" I responded before looking away.

Failed confession attempt number 101. I really thought I was going to stop at 100.

Oh well. At least I get to spend a bit more time with him. I smiled at the thought. 

"Thanks. I had a great time" I said as soon as I got out of the car.

I waved and my best friends waved back before leaving. I admired Celebs side profile before he was too far to be seen.

The message tone on my phone pulled me out of my fantasies of Caleb.

Stop drooling.  I bet you are still standing and fantasising about him 😂😂😂

It was a message from Natalie. She knew me too well.

I turned to face the house and only then did I notice the car parked in the driveway. It only meant one thing.

Mom was back home. I screamed before running to the house with excitement. If only I knew that there was more waiting for me behind the front door.
