"Hey Hank!" Detective Gavin Reed greeted as Hank and Connor were heading towards their desks. Completely ignoring Connor, Reed continued, smiling. "We got some fresh blood here in the precinct."

Connor immediately asked, "Was someone injured?"

Reed scrunched his face in contempt, scoffing. He shook his head before looking at Hank, a wise-ass comment on his tongue. It quickly died in his throat when he saw the unamused look on Hank's face. Recovering, he briefly rolled his eyes before walking past them.

Hank replied, "It means we have new members on the team. Jesus, do I have to teach you everything?"

Connor followed Hank, noting how his strides quickened and have gotten wider as they made their way towards Chief Fowler's fishtank of an office.

"Fowler, we just heard the news. How soon can we make the recruits' lives hell?" Hank mused.

Fowler gazed up from his steaming cup of coffee. "Well, most of them were assigned patrol or forensics so don't expect to haze anyone, Hank."

"You said most of them," chimed Connor. He can see Fowler's temperature gradually increasing. Hank looked to Connor, a slight smile on his lips before turning back to the chief.

"Look," sighed Fowler, putting down his mug as though it took too much effort to continue holding it, "I don't want to scare her off on her first day."

Hank laughed, "Who's the poor bastard who has to train her?"

Fowler laughed, "You are."

Hank's smile disappeared. "Why not pair her with Reed? His partner is still on leave."

"I thought about that, but I practically had to beat him away with a baton because he was just too eager."

"So why me? I've got Connor."

Connor couldn't help the involuntary twitch of his mouth.

"I don't have anyone else who have the experience or room on their caseload to handle a new recruit right now."

"I swear, that's your go-to response," Hank grumbled, heading towards the door.

"Her name is Jamie," Fowler called after him. Connor nodded his goodbye and just touched the door handle when Fowler said, "She'll be your responsibility too."

When they arrived at their desks, they found someone was already there with her back towards them. Connor analyzed her.

"I'm sorry, Lieutenant. I was instructed to wait here."

Hank did his own quick scan of her from her black work boots, matching skinny jeans, loose fitting white shirt, and black leather jacket with a cotton hood. Her wavy hair was in a ponytail and it swayed whenever she moved her head. Hank's lips pursed slightly, nodding.

"So I see," he stated. "Name's Hank. Fowler just told me about you."

He extended his hand and she took it firmly in hers.

"Jamie," she replied.

"That's quite a grip you got there," Hank's eyebrows rose slightly, impressed. His expression became more relaxed.

She smiled. Unsure of what to say, she turned to Connor.

"My name is Connor. I look forward to working with you."

He offered his hand and she took it, but her earlier confidence seemed to have waned.

"Same to you," she said almost hurriedly before stepping back from him. Hank sat in his seat and looked between them. Laughter was in his voice.

"Connor, looks like you found your twin."

Jamie glanced down at Connor's uniform and then her own outfit. Connor saw the resemblance. Jamie's heart rate elevated.

"Relax, newbie," Hank stretched. "Pull up a chair and get started on the files there."

Jamie pulled the zipper of her jacket closed diagonally across her body and then grabbed what must have been her grey winter scarf and wrapped it once around her neck. Grabbing a nearby chair, she wheeled it next to Connor's. He sat down and pulled the files up on the terminal. Hank placed his headphone on his ears, the heavy metal music blasting.

After a few hours of reviewing the files, Jamie started to wilt in her chair, fidgeting more frequently. She rubbed her eyes.

"There seems to be quite a few cases of missing anti-android protestors. I thought we were in charge of homicide."

"There are 23 to be exact," Connor replied. "And we are also assigned all cases involving androids."

"Androids were involved with these disappearances?"

Connor paused. "There is reason to suspect possible motive."

Jamie leaned back in her chair. "How can so many of them go missing in broad daylight? Connor, would you please pull up their last known locations?

Connor tilted his head slightly. "Of course." With a few blinks of his LED light, multiple locations were listed in front of them.

"Yup, all public places." Jamie glanced quickly at Connor.

Just then Connor received a message, his eyes fluttering briefly.

"I've just received news. A protester was found dead."

Jamie straightened, "Is it any of our missing persons?

"It appears so," Connor said, standing and moving to Hank's desk. Jamie followed. "Hank, we have a lead."

Hank looked up at them in mid-bite of his donut.

He groaned. "Well, shit."
