Chapter 23
Atticus and I burst out into a fit of laughter. We rolled all over the ground with tears streaming out of our eyes. Daiyu looked at us as if something was wrong with us. I found it ironic since she was deranged herself.
Gabriel stared at us with an uninterested look on his face. We stood up and attempted to sober ourselves up, taking slow and steady breaths.
There was a thick air of awkwardness. "So, how do we create this power pit?" I asked to shake off the stifling uneasiness.
Gabriel sucked his teeth," I forgot you don't know anything about controlling your powers."
I pointed to my chest in a state of confusion. "Me?" I asked, bewildered.
Gabriel rolled his eyes, "Well who else? You the only one here not claimed by either Heaven or Hell. They would teach you about those sorts of things."
It dawned on me, I knew nothing about my abilities. Sure I 'healed' Atticus in bird form but disbelieved that I actually did. First I worried about passing over, then I worried about finding some cup as old as time. I never had space in my cluttered, overworked brain to begin to even begin to wonder about it.
I felt slightly dejected by my thoughts but then I remembered something. I smiled to halt my mind from falling down the rabbit hole of darkness. "That won't be an issue. There are 3 of you that know how to use your powers. You all can create the power pit without me. My mission is time sensitive."
Gabriel shook his head, "Nuh, nuh. This is the perfect opportunity to teach you about your powers."
Daiyu groaned," Do you really have to? We can do the power pit now and not have to wait for some clueless person to learn something elementary."
I snapped my head to face her. "No disrespect but beggars cannot be choosers. Without us, you could not even have imagined a way out of here so please quit being inpatient. You should be grateful that we are going to escape rather than acting like a total brat."
Daiyu shot me a demonic death glare that would have sent chills down my spine if she hadn't done it so often since we got there.
She stomped off into a corner. "Fine! I know where I am not wanted!" She shouted.
"Okay, you go sit down if you want," I said but I didn't think that she heard me.
I turned to Gabriel, "Well what are you going to teach me?" I asked with tons of enthusiasm.
He had a small grin painted across his photogenic face. "Finally! Some is able to learn from me!" He exclaimed with childlike joy seeping through his voice.
"I don't mean to break up your little moment but if you need help I am here." Atticus offered Gabriel.
Gabriel gave Atticus a welcoming smile, "Why not? We can be co-teachers."
Atticus grew an enormous grin showing his slightly crooked teeth. "Hell yeah!" he screamed with excitement as he slapped Gabriel's hand.
He shook his head, "So what should we show her first?"
"Teleportation of course. We can focus on her special powers later." Atticus replied.
"Good idea but she can only teleport in this room because we are stuck here," Gabriel said.
"She will probably grasp teleporting easily but I have my doubts," Atticus said with a mischievous look in his eyes.
"I love how you both are speaking as if I am not in your presence," I said sarcastically.
Atticus body jolted. He blinked several times and smirked. "Sorry I didn't see you there."
I balled my fingers in a well-formed fist. I punched Atticus square in the shoulder. He winced and crumbled to the ground.
Gabriel chuckled, "That is what happens when you mess with Lilianna."
Atticus had a pained expression on his face. "Yeah, I think I know that now." He said sounding strained.
Gabriel put his attention on me. "Anyways, excuse the intermission. In order to teleport to another place, you have to quiet your mind and focus. It might feel weird the first couple tries but you will get used to it."
"Just put your mind at ease. Forget about your worries and imagine the spot in this room that you want to be in. Shut your eyes if need be." Atticus said still cuddling the floor.
I took deep breaths and visualized me standing next to Daiyu. I closed my eyes to minimize distractions. I peeped to see if I had moved but I was in the same spot.
"Come Lilianna you can do this. Declutter your mind and focus." Gabriel encouraged me.
I tried another time. Nothing happened. Again and again I 'decluttered' my mind in order focus but I didn't move an inch.
"Ugh!" I shrieked out of frustration.
"If you are tired just give it a rest. We can always resume this later." Atticus suggested.
"I second that. We should make the power pit and get out of here "Gabriel stated.
I scoffed, "I said that at first but you all weren't hearing Me."
"We probably should have listened to you. Time is precious." Gabriel said.
"Uh, guys?" Daiyu called out.
She held up an item that I couldn't see since it was so far away. "Do you know what this is?"
I raced over to her side in order to get a better view. When I saw what it was my body went limp. "Indeed I do."
A/N: What do you think Daiyu has? Let me know in the comments.
