Chapter 13

Gabriel POV

I was in a daze staring at the mysterious figures that appeared. I wanted to run and scream, but I couldn't. I was physically stuck. When the beings left I regained my ability to move, but my eyes felt strained as if I stared at a bright light for too long.

After they left I noticed that we were no longer in paradise. We weren't surrounded by palm plants, but an empty dark room. The only thing in the room where two golden doors that seemed to be glowing. Being an angel I had seen a lot of things, but nothing like what I experienced. I felt misplaced and I couldn't imagine how Lilianna felt.

She kept staring at the glowing doors as if she was in a trance.

I shook her shoulders. "Hey, should we go inside?"

She murmured "Yeah."

She tried to open up the doors but it was too heavy. I tried and only got enough space for us to squeeze in.

Behind the golden doors was yet another dark room, except this one, had a tall, white pedestal in the middle of it. We made our way to it and found there was a gleaming, brown book.

Lilianna scrunched up her face and asked "Do you think we should read it?"

"You know those figures said something about golden doors and learning more about them. This probably what they meant." I answered her.

She played with her shirt and said "How do you know we can trust what they said? I don't have a good feeling about this."

I sighed, "Well do we have anything else to go on?"

She hung her head down and groaned. "Open it," She mumbled.

We read the book together and I was intrigued by what I learned.

It told the story about the Elemental Goddesses and the Cup of Existence. The Elemental Goddesses were the first beings in the universe. They were Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. The universe was just an empty black pit. Feeling bored with nothing to do the Goddesses created the Cup of Existence using the blackness of the sky. Using the cup, they created all of the planets, galaxies, stars and so on. To them, the universe still felt empty without anyone inhabiting it, so they created Augustino and gave him the powers of life and death. Augustino created all life on earth and had two sons. The sons stole the Cup of Existence from the Elemental Goddesses and created a poison that killed their father. When they split Nova, the cup split as well and each half was in a different place, either earth, heaven or hell. The two men were in a race to find both halves. If one of them did, they would be the most powerful being in the universe. Meanwhile, the Elemental Goddesses got weaker due to the absence of the cup. It held their of their powers. Away from the Elemental Goddesses for a long time, the cup started to disintegrate and world wasting away with it.

Lilianna's quest wasn't really about stopping an ancient war, but finding the cup of existence and fixing the universe. A task that could be only done by someone with bravery and leadership skills. I fully believed that Lilianna could do it, even without my help. She was stubborn, but she was determined. I liked that about her. Sure she had her low moments, but didn't we all?

Even though I felt that she was capable of fulfilling the quest, I wondered why anyone else couldn't do it. The reason why Lilianna was the chosen one because she was the descendant of Augustino. Before he married Agatha he had a child with a mortal, and Lilianna's family tree trickled down from there. That was her destiny, to fix the universe and rule Nova.

"Wow," Lilliana said. Her mouth was agape and she kept walking backward until she stumbled against the solid stone wall.

"I am a descendant of a freaking God!" She exclaimed, obviously still in shock.

"This is so cool!" She squealed as she jumped around in a circle.

I chuckled at the sight of her. She looked like a little kid who got the toy they wanted for Christmas. It was hilarious, really. She continued to ramble on about how being descendant of Augustino was so awesome and I leaned against a wall, watching her in pure bliss.

Our moment of joy ended abruptly when the golden doors I pried open slammed shut.

A familiar voice crackled and boomed "Master Fernalio would be happy that I have in my possession the chosen one and her mutt."

It was Celeste, that manipulative witch! I should have known that something was off with her. I should have been ready to run away with Lilianna soon as she wanted to meet up in hell. She was a high angel after all and they have no place in hell. She was playing both sides.

When closing the doors she put a magic barrier around the room, I could sense it. That was supposed to stop me from transporting somewhere else.

All angels had the basic power of transporting within a realm, but I had the special gift of being able to transport between realms. Celeste had this power too, but only because she was a high angel. Every angel had a special power that was consistent with their natural talents when they were alive. Unlike most of them, I didn't just have one, I had two, but I kept that little fact concealed.

I was slightly worried, but I knew I could push through. The barrier would have stopped an inexperienced angel, but I had practiced long hours with my abilities. I was glad I endured a lot of extra training. If I didn't, Lilianna and I would probably be doomed.

"Hold on to my hand" I whispered. We needed to get out of there fast and I knew just the place to go.

Lilianna did so without hesitation. The room began to spin and took us where we could seek help and no one could find us, I certainly hoped.

A/N: We are finally hearing from our favorite angel, it has been a while. Where do you think Lilianna and Gabriel are going? What do you think Gabriel's second power is? Also a quick announcement my new schedule is now Tuesdays and Fridays. Hope you enjoyed!
