Chapter 3: Summer school and weirdos

(Phoebe's view)

I got out of the car as mom pulled up in front of the school the next morning rubbing sleep from my eyes as we walked to the entrance when one of the teachers joined us in the doorway and I gave my mom a quick wave before turning to leave when she stopped me.

"A new school might be fun." she said to which I raised an eyebrow at her.

"I'll take my chances with public education, mother." I replied before walking down the hallway to my first class and sitting down, when suddenly this kid sat next to me and put a large microphone right in front of my face before talking about how i was quiet when I turned to him sharply.

"Get that thing out of my face, you are invading my personal boundaries." I said and when he made no move to do so swatted it out of his hand before moving to a new seat across the room opening my lab book and jotting down some notes to take my mind off of the strange boy that was now making his way over to me.

"Leave me alone." I snapped attempting to walk away when he put the microphone down and stuck out his hand.

"I'm Podcast." he said with a smile while I attempted to keep a straight face at the sound of his name.

"Who names their kid Podcast?" I asked with a laugh before wiping my eyes as I returned my attention to my notes. I tried not to pay attention to him which seemed to only egg him on more. Class was boring but I continuing to write until the school bell rang before gathering up my notebooks and was about to leave when Podcast stopped me.

"What's your name?" he asked and I regarded him with a raised eyebrow. "My name is none of you're business, do you mind I have to go to the bathroom". I walked down the hall toward the bathroom the small strange little elf in tow.

When I came out of the bathroom he was still waiting, " don't you have some where to go"? I asked.

" No, not really", he said and smiled.

"I am Phoebe", I said and stuck out my hand.

"Coool", Phoebe..".

We began to walk toward the exit when I heard a strange music coming from the auditorium and walked away from Podcast who attempted to follow me but backed away when I sent him an icy glare before walking to the door of the auditorium and peering inside.

I didn't see anything unusual at first, but my eyes soon adjusted to the darkness before landing on a figure sitting at the piano on the stage a few feet away.

I closed the door behind me as quietly as I could before softly making my way toward the ghost girl who had stopped playing the piano having spotted me and now sat there staring as I approached her.

"Hello," I ventured with a smile as I stood a few feet away from her.

"My name's Phoebe." I continued and she gave me a small smile. "Hello Phoebe, my name is Lily." she said as she turned to face me all the while keeping her hands on the piano keys.

she wore what looked to have been a light green top and black ripped jeans which were now as transparent as she herself was. her hair looked as though it had been brown long ago but now spilled down her back in long silver waves.

"I can hear someone coming, you should probably go." Lily said and I nodded before turning around quickly and waving.

"See you tomorrow, Lily." I whispered as I made my way back the way I'd come. "See you tomorrow, Phoebe." came the reply as soft as a whisper.
