We got to class and took our seats at the back as always, I was still quiet.

“Hey, Brielle.” Lucas called while nudging my shoulder.

I turned and look at him smiling, then he spoke  “Stop putting on that face for me.

You don’t have to pretend with me, you know.... i am sorry, He is a jerk" He shrugs and puts up a sad expression.

“It’s okay, Lucas." I  smiled back then brought out my writing materials from my bag

Mr. Ralph came in and the class became silent because no one wants to be his prey. I hated attending his classes because I am always at the receiving end due to how clumsy I am during practicals.

I am just lucky that Lucas is always there to help me out.

Finally the bell rang for lunch and I was glad because I wasn’t paying attention in the class as my mind kept drifting to how I am going to tutor Logan, the evil twin.

Walking out of class and heading to the cafeteria, Lucas nudged me again and said “Spill! What’s on your mind? You have been quiet.”

“You won’t believe what happened this morning after Maths class.” I sighed, totally helpless.

“Alright, tell me.” he said, curiously.

I was about to tell him when I got pushed, almost kissing the floor but I balanced myself to look up and realize it was Avril, the most famous girl in the school who also has the title of the Queen Bee.

She's a bully just like Logan.

She clung to Lucas’s arms then I heard her telling him about lunch and how it is important he accompanies her,

Before he could even wave me off she dragged him along.

“Great!” I muttered to myself and headed for the cafeteria alone.

I spotted Maya and Sam sitting at our usual table at the far end of the cafeteria. I stood in line to get my lunch.

I picked an apple and a burger then turned around to head to where my friends were but curse gravity! Suddenly, I  tripped and fell face flat with my food on my face, so much for saving myself earlier.

Laughter echoed in the cafeteria and I stood up facing Logan. I wiped my face, I was so angry and at the same time scared of retaliating because I know he will double my misery.

“Watch your way, Sassy pants.” he said, laughing with his friends.

“Are you kidding me?” I said with my hands akimbo.

“What was that you said? I don't think I heard you right, come again.” then he picked his juice and poured its content on me.

This lead to another fit of laughter as everyone continued laughing like it was a comedy show.

I was sighing in anger when Maya came to my rescue and punch him on the face and the hall became silent.

I could feel Maya trembling with fear for her actions but at least she got to stand up for me.
Something that I couldn’t do for myself.

Logan wanted to retaliate but Alex his other best friend chips in to take care of it.

Standing in front of her, he spoke with pure hatred in his voice“you don’t get to do that, bitch."

“And who the hell are you dumb ass?”She asked angrily.

I sighted Sam from the corner of my eyes still trembling with fear for us, and I know she wouldn't dare do anything because it will be worse for us all as the three of us are their preys and the three devils; Logan, Alex and Jackson love bullying us the most in school.

Before we knew it Logan picked up the cafeteria trash bin and turned all its contents on both of us “Don’t ever speak back at us." he warned.

I couldn’t bear the embarrassment any longer, it’s too much. Everyone was laughing at us, recording the incident which I am sure will be the trending news in the school students app which they have turned to the gossip app.

Sam rushed to us, grab our hands and we ran out of the cafeteria to the parking lot.

We were all quiet before Sam broke the silence “I am so sorry about earlier, girls. Let’s ditch the remaining part of school today."

“Not sure if that’s a good idea, we will face detention for missing classes.” I said.

“But you both can’t go to class like this." she pointed our clothes.

Maya was still quiet before she finally asked “Where to, Sam?”

“My house of course, dweeb! My parents will be at work so it will just be the housekeeper.”Sam explained.

“Alright then, let’s go.” Maya and I said in unison.

We got into Sam's car because she’s the only one with a ride, and lucky for us we got out of the parking lot without been caught by the security.

We arrived at Sam’s house, and went upstairs straight to her bedroom.

“You both can clean up while I get us something to eat, one of you should use my bathroom and the other should use the bathroom in the guest room. I am sure you both know your way around." She said and closed the door.

“I  will use the guest room"  I told Maya.

After we have freshen up, we are both looking fresh and wearing Sam's pyjamas before our clothes dry.

She returned with a pack of snack, biscuits and yogurts. We all sat on her bed and I turned to Maya.

“Thank you so much Maya for today, you did something I always imagine doing. Now I am ashamed of myself but I can’t help it.” A frown finds its way on my face because I felt so sorry for myself right now.

“Cut it, Bribri, I know what you’re going through but you have to stand up for yourself. We can’t always let them win. I freaking hate them because of how arrogant they are."

Maya said furiously while holding her snack so tight.
“Chill, Maya. Don’t murder the snack" Sam said while laughing.

“Come on, guys. Let’s forget about those assholes for now and watch something please.” I suggested.

So we ended up watching some amazing movies and later, we ate pasta and kept talking about random stuff.

And that was how the rest of the afternoon was spent until I received a text from Lucas

“Hey, I hope you are okay? I am so sorry, I just heard what happen.” -L

I smiled, feeling those familiar knots in my stomach, then replied

“Yes, don't worry I am okay"-B
