Prologue
Woo! Rewrite where I actually know what I'm doing! I hope this turns out good :) Thanks for tuning in!
Third Person POV
[Y/N] always knew something was up. She just never expected it to be this shocking.
After turning 11, she was sick of wondering where she came from and finally decided to take matters into her own hands. Cue the research - libraries, records, anything she could get her hands on, she read. Even now at the age of [AGE], she found herself at a library a ways away from the orphanage she lived in. It was one of the only orphanages in the city, with the foster system making there no need for places like that anymore. Still, she lived in an orphanage. She had since she was 6 years old.
[Y/N] has no memories of her life before being six. That's what started this investigation - the overwhelming curiosity she felt, and the yearning to know more. But as dedicated as she was, her journey had been hard. And it all lead up to this point.
Sitting in a cosy corner in the library basement, [Y/N] had a book in her hands. The writing was in Japanese, although she had known the language already (despite not knowing how) so it was easy to decipher. The book was about crystals, the properties they had and abilities they gave you. It was magic. Of course, when picking up the book, [Y/N] thought tho to be bullshit. She takes that back now. All of it.
In front of her stood a boy, maybe around 16 or 17 years old. He had crystal blue eyes and a smile which you weren't sure whether to classify as cheerful or eerie. His hair was blond, almost grey, and it sat neatly on his head, not a hair out of place. He stared at you, and you stared right back.
"[Y/N]." He said, his smile seemingly growing wider if that was even possible. You stare at him in shock. How did he know your name? You decided to voice your concerns.
"H-How do you know my name?" You question him, resisting the urge to curse at yourself for stuttering. He raised an eyebrow, chuckling. "You stuttered. Clearly not yourself, are we?" He smirked, his calculating blue eyes looking into your [E/C] ones.
You furrow your eyebrow, deciding to ask something else. "Who are you?" You say sternly. "Ah, that's better. It's strange seeing you so flustered." You decided not to question whatever the fuck that meant, waiting. He continued with a sigh.
"My name is of unimportance right now, although you may find out later. As of why I'm here..." He handed you a small box. You stared at him sceptically, hesitantly reaching for it. Grasping it in your hand, you inspected the box - it was made of dark wood, detailed patterns carved elegantly onto it.
You eyed the boy, noticing how he didn't make a move to leave. He would at least be tense if there was something dangerous inside it - or maybe he was a good actor. Either way, you're an idiot so you looked down at the box, hesitating to open it. Looking inside, you see a clear crystal of an ivory, almost pink colour. A deep brown string wrapped around it, creating a necklace.
You give the boy a questioning look, but he only smiles. "Put it on. You'll need it," He insists, and you awkwardly obliged. You opened your mouth to ask a question, but before you could say anything, a bright light took over your vision, stunning you. With the box gripped tightly in your hand, you snap it shut and shove it deep into your pocket. The words "Have fun!" were the last thing you heard, but before disappearing, you found yourself wondering just where you had heard that voice before.
