Hallie POV

Sitting in my living room surrounded by a sea of papers I felt like I was so close to finally getting some answers.

I had spent so long going over each piece of paper word by word and putting all the pieces together and it wasn't making a very pretty picture.

I hadn't envisioned that doing this would open a whole can of worms I didn't know about but at the same time I was glad I'd done it because things were starting to almost become clear.

I hear the front door open and footsteps on the wooden floor and I know Joe is home and I can't wait to tell him what I've found.

"Hey babygirl.........what's all this?" He asks joining me in the centre of the paperwork ocean I had created and sitting beside me.

Gently he pulls me onto his lap and wraps his arms around me and I settle agaisnt him letting out a contented sigh.

"I've missed you" I smile as he kisses my cheek

"I've missed you to" he says "but you didn't answer my question"

"Well our conversation in the beach hut got me thinking and it was bugging me so much I decided to request a copy of my brothers autopsy report" I say taking a deep breath "something in that peaked my interest so I managed to obtain his medical records and a copy of the fire report"

"Ok and what have you found?" He asks "lay it out for me"

"You remember my brother was sick?" I ask and he nods "well he never told me what was wrong just that he was fine and would get better. It turns out he had cancer..........testicular cancer. So my comment about freezing his sperm wasn't far of the mark"

"So he did?" He asks "it could be his baby?"

"That's where it gets weird" I say "I had a conversation with Danny once and he told me he didn't want kids so it wouldn't make sense for him to do that. But there is a signed consent for it to be frozen but look" I say putting two pieces of paper side by side "this is his signature, the one on the consent doesn't match"

"She forged his signature and have consent without his knowledge" he says and I nod "babygirl........I don't think he meant he didn't want to have kids at all I think he meant with her look" he says picking up a piece of paper that apparently I had missed.

"He had already given consent before that one, only this one states that she is not to know about it" he says

"And the consents are for two different places" I say "Joe..............I think you're right, I think that is my brothers baby"

"That's not all babygirl" he says and my brow furrows "she wouldn't have been able to pull this off with him around. She would have needed his consent to use the sperm. The only way she wouldn't is if he passed away and she had something in writing to say she could"

"I did see her getting him to sign alot of things when he was sick" I say "he wasn't really with it so wouldn't have really known what he was signing"

"Babygirl I don't think you are seeing what this is telling you" he says holding me tighter

"What do you mean?" I ask

"The fire wasn't an accident Hallie, it was deliberate" he says "and I think we now know who did it"

"Oh my god!" I gasp as everything starts to sink in "she wanted him dead so she use his sperm and have his baby"

"And she wanted you locked away because she knew if you wanted to you could get all this and figure it all out" he says

"But why kill my parents?" I ask

"I don't think that was part of her plan" he says "according to the police report the cctv camera showed your parents going outside like they were looking for something and then when the fire started they rushed back inside"

"She tried to keep them out of the house" I say "she took everything away from me, my whole family just so she could get what my brother didn't want her to have"

"We need to take this to the police babygirl" he says "she needs to pay for what she's done. I know it won't bring them back but hopefully it will give you the closure you need"

"Your right. And I want custody of that baby when it's born" I say and he looks at me "I can't leave my brothers child with her, she's a murderer"

"We will do what we can" he says kissing my cheek "I agree the baby would be better off with us"

Staring at the papers in the safety of Joe's arms reality started to hit. All this time she had tried to put me in prison for this when she was the one to blame.

She had cost me my entire family just to get what she wanted. If she had truly loved my brother she would never have been able to do this.

One thing was for sure I was going to get justice for my family and as Joe said she was going to pay for what she had done.
