Chapter 7 // Sleepover
Adelaide's Point of View
The hot steam from the shower that had been circulating my body came to a halt as I pushed down against the knob, leaving only droplets of water to leak out of the showerhead and drop against the marble tub, echoing through the compact bathroom. I enveloped my body in a plush towel and dried off completely, braiding my hair to get it out of my face and hiking up a pair of running shorts and a baggy t-shirt to sleep in.
Calum was currently in the guest room, since all of my furniture was placed in there. I figured he would need some good rest, and my mattress was so comfortable I just had to offer it to him, meaning I'd be residing in the other spare room with a small twin bed in the corner.
I creeped inside of the room with a fresh ice pack. His head was propped with all of my pillows behind him, his eyes tiredly watching the television in front of him. We had been hanging out since the fight had occured and I truly was happy that he was staying over. I didn't want him to leave. Even if he was only next door, I liked the comfort of him staying in my house.
"Here," I said, grasping the soggy icepack from his hands and switching it out with a new one that was wrapped in a paper towel to prevent frostbite. "Do you need anything else?"
He smiled up at me. "I need you to stay with me."
"Calum," I whined, dragging out his name as he picked up my hand tightly. "I'm just going to be in the next room."
"Ad." Calum giggled. I liked the even more shortened nickname that he called me. "That's crazy. This is your bed. You shouldn't have to go sleep somewhere else because of me."
I sighed heavily. "I thought you wanted to be just friends."
Calum smirked at me, his brown eyes lazily observing every inch of my body. He tugged on the covers back and patted the spot next to him. "Friends can have sleepovers, Adelaide."
"Not friends that sleep in just their boxers," I teased at his outfit of choice. I wasn't complaining, I quite enjoyed the sight of Calum completely shirtless. With a huff, I collapsed into the bed, a smug grin evident on my neighbor's face.
"Hey, usually I sleep completely naked so you're lucky," Calum shot back, moving his arm to wrap around me and pull me closer to him, so my head was sharing his pillow, and I was cuddled into his side. "You better not snore, Ad."
I laughed, resting my head on the crook of his neck. His aroma filled my lungs. His scent was so attractive. If I had smell one thing for my entire life, I hope it would be either Calum's cologne or the flowers in the florist. Calum's fingers toyed with my lightweight t-shirt, lifting it up to expose my bare stomach. He ran his fingertips across my tummy, tracing small patterns into my skin. It was soothing and I was craving his touch more and more. His hands found their way to the hemline of my underwear and he moved it down slightly, feeling my hipbones. I turned my head to the side and placed a kiss on his cheek.
"This was actually a bad idea, us sleeping together," Calum mumbled, still stroking the bare skin on my belly. I just hummed in response, too relaxed to even formulate something to say. "You know, I lost my virginity in this room."
"You did?" I questioned, my ears perking up. "Why would you have sex at your friends house?"
Calum laughed lightly. "No I had sex with my friend, well, my girlfriend. This was her room."
"Oh," I muttered, making the realization. A pang of jealousy swept over me and the thought of Calum with another girl. It was absolutely ridiculous, we weren't together, nor have we known each other very long, but I hated picturing it. "So is this weird for you? And did you guys break up because she moved away or before that?"
"It's not weird at all. There's a lot of memories and stuff, yes, but I want to make new ones with you," Calum answered in his velvety tone, making me swoon. "And we broke up when she left."
"Are you guys still in contact?" I wondered, moving my hand to the one that he had resting on my belly and intertwined our finger together.
"No," Calum declared in a firm tone, pressing a kiss onto my forehead. I shut my eyes as he let his lips linger there. It was a simple gesture, yet it made the butterflies flutter around. "Addy, before you fall asleep I just want to let you know how much I appreciate you taking care of me. You easily could have just left with Michael. I was the one being mean to him, I've always been mean to him, so I guess I deserved that punch."
"Don't say that," I scowled, turning on my side to get a better view of his face. His ice pack had stopped the majority of the swelling and he had placed it on my nightstand. There was a noticeable bruise, but it didn't seem broken. "No one deserves to get punched, Calum. And I would have stuck up for you over Mikey anyday."
"Don't call him Mikey. I don't like you two being all buddy."
"We work together," I said with a chuckle, running my hands through his dark hair to ruffle it up a bit. "You're still my favorite though, okay? You probably always will be. But it's inevitable that Michael and I will be friends. I'm going to lecture him for awhile tomorrow though."
"You don't have to do that, Ad," He assured me, using that new nickname that I already adored. He snuggled both of his arms around me, pulling my body onto his chest. "Try to get some sleep, love."
My heart pumped at his term of endearment. "I'll try. You'll still be here in the morning, right?"
Calum kissed the top of my head gently. "Of course, Adelaide. Goodnight."
--
"Why do you girls actually bother with putting on this crap everyday?" Calum complained, sitting cross-legged on the tile floor in the bathroom, his back pressed against the cabinets.
He had asked me to try and cover-up the bruise on his nose to prevent his mother from finding out about Michael's punch. After we endured a lovely breakfast together consisting of shitty and stale cereal, I happily agreed to put make-up on him.
I stroked the concealer over the side of his nose with the small face brush, dotting it on in a rapid motion. He squirmed against the sticky foundation tickling around his nostrils. I giggled loudly. "You would make a terrible drag queen."
Cal pouted, jutting his lip out sarcastically. "Aw, really? That's too bad. Being on RuPaul was like my ultimate dream."
I smacked him gently, making him burst into a fit of chuckles. "Stop moving! You're going to have a line if you don't let me blend it in."
"Oh God," He grumbled, sitting up straight as I finally covered up the hint of violet peeking through the concealer with another layer. I set it with some translucent powder and the excess puff of it made him cough. "Why are you putting like sugar on my face?"
My laughter continued to rise. "It's just face powder to make you matte!" I protested.
Calum rolled his deep brown eyes, standing up to wrap his arms around me in a hug. "Well this was fun and all but I better get going, Ad. Thanks again. I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Obviously."
