Chapter 19 // Date

Adelaide's Point of View

Our legs were tangled together in a knot. I could feel his heart beating underneath my ear that was pressed against his chest. I was positive that there was most likely a permanent blush on my cheeks from the embarrassing reminder that Calum had seen me partake in an over-dramatic meltdown.

His fingers were still running through my hair, sometimes getting stuck in the kinks. It was a peaceful way to wake up in the morning.

"Addy," Calum finally said, his voice sounding raspy and much like a toad's croak. He cleared his throat, despite my hoping for him to continue to talk in that alluring morning voice. "How are you doing, baby?"

"I'm fine," I assured him, leaning my head up to get a view of his face. My fingers traced his prominent jawline. "Honestly. I'm just embarassed that you saw me crying like that."

"Hey, we all get stressed out. I completely understand. I used to have really bad anxiety attacks when the incident occurred and they were ten times worse than what happened last night, I swear," Calum insisted, tucking a piece of my messy hair behind my ear.

I scooched forward onto my forearms and kissed his lips, erupting a fit of butterflies into my stomach. When I pulled away, the smell of sweat lingered on his neck. "You kind of stink."

I gigged as he raised one arm up, twisting his head to get a wiff of us his own armpit. "Climbing that tree last night was hard."

"You could have used the front door," I reminded him.

Calum lifted me up and threw me over his bony shoulder. I squealed as he carried me out of my bedroom against my will and led me into the bathroom. I pounded my fists lightly into his back as we both laughed, until I was finally placed onto the tile floor. "We're taking a bath together. Nothing more relaxing and romantic than a bath together."

"You're right. I mean, what is more sexy than sitting in your own filth?" I teased.

"Come on," He encouraged, leaning over to turn the knob and let water pour into the tub. He squeezed the bottle of body wash into the water, initiating the formation of thousands of little bubbles. "I'll be right back."

As Calum slipped out of the bathroom, I tied my hair up into a bun to keep it from getting wet and making me look like Baby Tarzan. My clothing fell to the floor and I swept it up into a little pile, pushing it off to the side. I tested the temperature by dunking my feet in and since it wasn't burning or freezing, I gracefully sunk in. The bubbles filled my lungs with the scent of coconut and I closed my eyes as the warm water soothed me.

The door opened, revealing Calum who was holding a bag of grapes and a single candle which had previously been lit and he carefully set it on the counter. "Grapes?"

He popped the green fruit into his mouth, smiling brightly at me. "Yup! I was going to make chocolate-covered strawberries but I couldn't find any chocolate, or strawberries."

"Maybe I need to make another trip to the store then," I declared, feeling bad that the amount of good food in my fridge was lacking.

Calum pulled his shirt over his head. His abs were on full display for me and I adjusted my body so I could get a better view. He chuckled as he realized that I was watching him remove his attire and the way he shimmied out of his pants.I had no idea it was possible for me to land such a hot boyfriend.

His shoulders relaxed against the porcelain walls as the bubbles covered up his nude body. My legs were in between his as we faced each other from opposite sides of the tub and my feet were resting on his stomach. Calum reached for the bag of grapes and continued to munch on them. "Give me one," I ordered.

A mischevious grin grew on his face. "Fine, but you have to catch it. Only get one chance."

My jaw dropped slightly. "What? I'm so bad at this! That's not fair, what if it falls in the bath water? That would be disgusting."

"Well then you better catch it, Ad," He told me, lifting his arm to get ready to throw. I propped myself up and opened my mouth up. Calum threw the grape softly and it somehow managed to hit me square in the forehead, then sink to the bottom of the tub.

I laughed loudly, lifting one of my feet up to put it by his face. He swatted it away, giggling like a school girl. "You have terrible aim!"

"I did that on purpose," Calum confessed, still cracking up as I removed the dirty grape out of the bath.

I crawled closer to him and took a seat on his stomach, my hands placing themselves around the back of his neck. His eyes widened with lust as his palms caressed the skin on my back.

"You seem to be in a good mood now," Calum pointed out, grinning up at me.

I stifled out a giggle. "Yeah. I'm not sure what happened last night. I rarely ever get that worked up. But thank you for being there for me."

"I'll always be here," He admitted. "Well not like physically here, in the tub, cause then I'd get all wrinkly and I would probably drown."

"You're such a dork." A chuckle escaped my mouth. I leaned forward, pressing our foreheads against each other and Calum quickly closed the gap between our lips as if he had been anticipating this very moment. We wasted no time in slipping our tongues in each other's mouths and his hands continued to roam over my bare skin. His touch created heat to rise and fireworks to erupt in my belly, but all I cared about was keeping up with this heated kiss.

Calum sat up straighter to remove any space between our bodies, but by doing so, he hit his head on the knobs that controlled the heat of the water. He groaned in pain as the thud echoed throughout the room. I instantly burst into hysterics, detaching my lips from his. I ruffled his hair. "Are you okay?" I asked, still amused by his clumsiness.

"I'm okay, I'm just an idiot," Calum explained, rubbing the back of his head where the collision occurred. He was laughing as well now.

"I can't argue with that," I joked, kissing the top of his nose as the sense of adoration I had for this boy swept over me. "So, about that date?"

"Right!" Calum exclaimed. "Well I wanted to go have a picnic with you and we could watch the sunrise together. That sounds so incredibly cheesy, oh my God. But anyways, if you'd like we can watch the sunset instead?"

"Perfect," I agreed, leaning closer to him to pepper kisses along his neck.

"Addy," He whined, pinching the side of my waist to get me to stop before I left any purple marks on his skin. He smiled at me as we made eye contact again. "You know, you're actually the best thing that's ever happened to me."

"The feeling is mutual."

--

Staring up at the clouds was one of my favorite things to do. I loved connecting the little balls of water and creating my own cloud-constellations. My favorite part about gazing was the fact that my head was against Calum's stomach, the two of us laying on a scratchy picnic blanket, looking up at the darkening sky.

"That cloud looks like a fat version of you."

Calum giggled in an adorable manner. "I don't see it. But I think that one looks like a cat."

"If you squint," I suggested, squeezing my eyes to blur my vision a bit and try to form the cat. "Actually, I think it looks more like a dog."

"I always wanted a dog," Calum told me, his hand beginning to comb through my hair, twisting various pieces as he stroked it delicately. "My mother always thought they were dirty though, so she never let us get one."

The waves lightly crashing against the sandy beach was a relaxing form of background music altogether. The scent of salty waters and Calum's natural musky aroma smothered my lungs. "Well, what if I bought a puppy?"

"No, too much responsibility. You can't leave a puppy home alone when you go to work."

I turned on my side, my head still on Calum's lap, and I grasped his hand and laced our fingers together. "Then you could puppy-sit? You did say you always wanted a dog."

He laughed, lifting our intertwined hands to his lips and pressing a kiss to the back of mine. "Why don't you sleep on it?"

"I'm not going to sleep on a dog, he would have a cage."

Calum cracked up even louder, shaking his head at me. "No, I meant like why don't you sleep on the decision? Think it over. I mean, a puppy is kind of like a child. Do you want a child?"

"No," I stated firmly, my stomach churning at the mention of being a young parent. I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life so I'm sure my lack of maturity would not go over well with raising a baby.

He shrugged. "Then it's settled. But if you really want to play with a dog for awhile, we can go over to Ashton's old house and play with his. I'm sure his sister, Lauren, wouldn't mind."

I nodded my head, grinning at him. The sky was turning a shade of orange and the color made his bronze-toned skin glow even tanner. His chubby cheeks were puffed out, which truly amazed me that he could have such pouty cheeks at the same time as having a chiseled cheek bone that was so sharp it could cut through meat.

Mali-koa approached us, breaking our eye contact, and tripping slightly over the basket of picnic food that was placed in the corner. She looked stunning as always and she smiled at me in a genuine manner. "Aw look at the happy couple. You two are so cute. I'm glad you finally grew some balls and asked her out."

Calum rolled his eyes at his sister as I stifled out a small laugh. "What do you want, Mali?"

"I'm going out with Gina tonight and I'm staying at her house for the weekend. Dad has to go up to Sydney to pick some stuff up for work, he'll be back tomorrow night. So you are on Mum Duty until he gets back," She informed him.

I raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Mum Duty?"

Mali-koa nodded, her hair cascading down her back as she shook like a bobble-head. "Yeah, our mum got really sick from the airplane travel and she needs someone to take care of her most of times. It's really bad."

Calum glimpsed at me in concern. I knew he was afraid to leave me in case I had another meltdown, but I honestly would be fine. It was just a rare occurrence of fear and bottled up stress. "I'm fine. Go help your mother."

"We didn't get to see the sun go down," He complained, shuffling to his feet and pulling me up with him. "You can still come over, okay? She's usually sleeping I just have to be on call."

"Okay," I murmured, standing on my tippy-toes to softly peck his lips, not wanting to actually kiss him since Mali was merely steps away from us.
