IN CONVENTIONAL TERMS, TWIN SISTERS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ALIKE, RIGHT? Sharing stories about boys, gossiping about the same shit, wearing each other's clothes. All that cliche crap that gets boring in teen movies? We all know the stuff. Well, not for Kiara and Tate Carrera.

On one hand, Kiara prefers the simpler side of things ─ surfing with her friends, sleeping on the beach, hanging out with people she's not supposed to . . . Living the Kook life definitely not how she's expected to! And on the other hand, Tate can't get enough of living life rich. She spends her time buying things she doesn't need, drinking overpriced cocktails, eating expensive meals out with her boyfriend, and living the Kook life how her parents wanted their daughters to. And as a result, Tate and Kiara haven't had a civilised conversation since they were eleven.

                    You could argue that in some ways they are similar ─ they both disapprove of their sister. Kiara despises her sister's boyfriend Rafe, and the rules she has to follow considering she is a Kook and the fact that Tate follows all of those outdated rules. And Tate doesn't appreciate her sister's recklessness and need to befriend the Pogues on the other side of the island.

                    As much as their parents love their two beautiful daughters, no love in the world creates tolerance for their bickering. Whether that being putting locks on their doors so the other doesn't steal their clothes, or pulling each other's hair because they are twin sisters, after all, Kiara and Tate couldn't be further apart.

                    And so when Tate catches her awfully misogynistic boyfriend Rafe Cameron ─ Kook as Kook can be, far too much money than he knows what to do with, plays golf ─ cheating on her with someone she's never even heard of before, Kiara unsurprisingly doesn't come to her twin's rescue but rather mutters an I told you so and their sibling-bond is as weak as it always is. 

                    Now newly single, and not too pumped about life, Tate hopes to make peace with her sister, out of fear of loneliness. Being an extrovert, Tate doesn't handle the independent lifestyle quite as well as she had hoped, so desperate for human interaction that isn't her parents, Tate is optimistic that she can rekindle the relationship she shared with her twin all those years ago. Even if that means finding out that Kiara and her Pogue friends are going on a treasure hunt.

                    Tate will stop at nothing to find a friend in her sister. And especially after she finds out that Rafe Cameron is on the same gold dig, all she can do is beg and plead for Kiara to tag along, so Tate won't feel as lonely. Let's just hope Pogues John B, Pope and JJ aren't too mad about inviting a second Kook into their money heist . . .

─ tate's character is supposed to be quite unlikeable to start with, but when she and jj start to get close, that's when the readers should start to warm up to her a bit more (he brings out the best in her awe). so this means like cute bickering moments

─ jj and tate have a history!!! and you can come up with it. whether that be ex-best friends, exes, or like one of them doublecross the other? i dunno, you do what you think would fit the plot the best!

─ tate is close friends with sarah and remains to be after rafe cheats on her

─ her and rafe's relationship was a long term one and heavily supported by their parents

─ tate is very close with her parents

─ tate finds out that rafe and ward are also trying to find this gold (probably by eavesdropping on kiara and the pogues talking) and that makes her want in even more because she wants to help so if they do end up finding the gold before rafe and ward, she can spite rafe :)

─ tate suffers from severe FOMO and craves TLC 24/7
