Robin Buckley had not added help imbecile co-worker and his prepubescent best friend to decipher secret Russian code on her to-do list when she applied for a job at Scoops Ahoy in Hawkins' new Starcourt Mall. She never even added scoop ice cream for a living on her life to-do list either, and yet the juvenile sailor's costume she puts on every morning reminds her of that.

Sloane Chadwick did not add become homeless by the age of nineteen on her life to-do list when she graduated high school. But her parents threatened her with that as soon as she threw her cap up into the air. And just like Robin, Sloane did not imagine her day-to-day life to consist of boring labour, and too much human interaction that made her squeamish. And the dusty overalls that she puts on every morning reminds her of that.

Robin Buckley, child-hater (ironic considering her profession), ice cream critic (ironic considering her profession) and Steve Harrington detractor (ironic considering her profession), is just as much as an anti-social misanthropist as Sloane is. Her goal in life was to escape Hawkins the first chance she got. The only problem was ─ that chance never arose. So she was stuck here until she got enough money to fund her freedom.

Sloane was the exact same (funny, right?). She couldn't wait to get far away from the tiny town that was eating her up, slowly from the inside. She had two parents who wouldn't bankroll her plan to get out, so she had to pay for her Hawkins-desertion herself with a minimum wage job, that required her to deliver various large and very heavy boxes to the restaurants and shops around Starcourt Mall.

Despite her antisocial tendencies, there is one person that Robin is interested in talking to ─ the delivery girl, that drops a few boxes of ice cream on her doorstep every day. Robin doesn't like her job. She doesn't even like ice cream. But the girl transporting that ice cream isn't so bad . . .

Robin has been waiting for weeks for the courage to speak to this delivery girl. Since she got the job, actually. But love comes at the strangest of times, right? Wrong. Robin just uses that as an excuse for her cowardness.

In truth, Robin never does manage to find the bravery to spark a conversation with the girl with the ice cream boxes. The Scoops Ahoy employee simply uses the suspicions she has for another delivery guy as a reason to talk to Sloane Chadwick.

So, she may not speak Russian, but after being declared useful by Robin Buckley, Sloane is pulled aside to help Steve "The Hair" Harrington, his curly-haired child friend, and this same ice cream girl who takes her orders in bulk, in taking down the Russian spies they suspect are using Starcourt Mall to do shady shit, and her life becomes a movie.

WHY IS WRITING EXTRA NOTES SO BORING AND TEDIOUS

i might just leave the summary here, and let y'all work it out? . . .

the only thing to mention is you know episode 3, around 28 mins when the delivery guy comes to robin? that's not the same kind of delivery sloane does. she works for an ice cream manufacturer, so for this fic, that guy delivers other stuff (e.g. pots, those little plastic spoons, napkins, idk) and sloane delivers scoops ahoy actual ice cream stock (you get me?)

sooo, robin asks sloane for her help, considering sloane works in the delivery/warehouse industry and she therefore might know more about the sus guy with the white cat uniform (i'm making sense right?)

and for the quote (see below) i imagine that happens when sloane catches robin and steve letting mike, max, will, and lucas use the back exit of scoops to get free access into the cinema (episode 1, around 9 mins)

sloane hates her job just as much as robin hates hers so make them bond over that

sloane went to a different high school than all the rest. her parents are rich af so i imagined she went to some fancy-ass private school outside of town. the reason sloane is working the job she does, is because her parents don't want her living off of their money for the rest of her life

please come up with a better title if you want this plot. i really just wanted to post it and i can't think of anything better . . .
