Chapter 7
You were sat on the sofa in the common room, mindlessly flipping through channels while Hoseok, Jin and Yoongi did their homework at the dining table on the other side of the room.
You left Jungkook to have a nap since he had tuckered himself out getting all upset over the affinity thing. You understood why he was so frustrated and wanted desperately to help him. Even though you had a feeling Jungkook would be Earth after having experienced him interacting with it today in the courtyard, you couldn't help but feel a small amount of dread at the thought of the upcoming Element Ceremony.
Just then Jimin strolled back into the room from the kitchen, plopping down beside you on the sofa with a coffee in hand.
"Whatcha watching Y/N?" he asked, sipping his coffee and throwing his legs onto the table in front of him.
"I don't know, I can't find an-"
"PARK JIMIN! FEET. OFF. THE. TABLE." came Jin's bossy voice, interrupting you.
"Yes, Mom." Jimin grumbled, reluctantly putting his feet up onto the sofa instead.
He looked over you to and rolled his eyes.
"I swear he thinks he's actually our mother sometimes." he whispered, making sure only you heard what he said.
You chuckled lightly at him before returning to flipping through the channels.
"Here" Jimin said, taking the remote out of your hand, brushing your fingers along the way.
You kept your eyes locked onto the TV, desperately trying to avoid bringing attention to the blush that had crept its way onto your cheeks.
"Netflix is better than regular TV anyways, I hate watching all the commercials." he said, opening up Netflix and searching through the shows.
"By the way, what are your plans this weekend?" he asked, glancing over at you.
You had totally forgot today was Friday amidst the hectic first couple days of school.
"Actually I don't have anything planned yet. I guess I'll just read or watch TV or something." you replied.
"Did you want to come with us into Seoul? We reserved a driver for tomorrow morning so we can spend the day shopping and exploring the city" Jimin said suddenly, barely taking his eyes off the television.
"Oh? Are you sure?" you replied, "I wouldn't be intruding?"
"Of course not! It would be so much more fun if you came with us, you're part of the gang now!" he exclaimed, turning to smile at you.
"Well in that case, sure! It sounds like fun!" You said back, smiling to yourself at the thought of getting to spend more time with this boy.
After Jimin had picked a movie the other boys at the table came over to join.
You were watching Spiderman: Homecoming, a choice which despite not knowing the boys very well, didn't surprise you.
You excused yourself half-way through to head to bed, Jin's constant dissection of the movie finally having exhausted you.
Its probably better I get some rest anyways before tomorrow
-------
You rolled over in bed, ducking under the covers slightly to block out the sunlight coming in through the window. Yawning and snuggling further into your pillow, you were almost asleep again when something hit you hard on the head.
"OW WHAT THE HELL!" you yelled, shooting up in bed and looking around for the culprit.
Jungkook was standing on the bunk ladder beside you, pillow raised over his head like he was about to hit you again.
You held up your blanket for protection.
"You even dare try to hit me again and I will knock you into next Thursday bunk bud" you spat jokingly from behind your make-shift shield.
"You wouldn't do that to me, you love me too much!" Jungkook said, snatching the blanket out of your hands and throwing the pillow at you before jumping down to the floor.
"Jeon Jungkook I swear to god!" you laughed, chucking the pillow off the side of your bunk.
"Get ready guys we're leaving in an hour! You too Y/N!" came Hoseok's cheerful voice from the doorway of the bedroom.
Jimin must have told everyone you were coming.
You quickly hopped down off the bunk, shoving Jungkook playfully before rushing to the bathroom to start getting ready.
You had tried to do something nice with your hair today but it didn't seem to be cooperating. Instead, you threw it up into a high ponytail, weaving your hair through the loop on the back of your Champion baseball cap. You had opted for comfort over style today, deciding a plain t-shirt, jeans and runners were the best way to go if you were to be walking around the city all day.
You came out to the common room just in time, the boys were all crowded around the dining table packing various snacks into their bags that Jin had seemingly prepared for them.
"Put this in your bag in case you get hungry Y/N!" Jin said, handing you a brown paper bag as you walked up to the table.
You looked inside to see a banana, a granola bar and half a ham sandwich.
"Thanks Jin" You said, smiling at the boy.
He really will make a great housewife someday, you thought to yourself, trying not to laugh out loud at your own inner dialogue.
"The driver should be arriving in a few minutes so lets head outside!" Namjoon said, walking towards the front door.
You skipped over to Jungkook, linking arms with him and dragging him to follow after Namjoon.
"Lets go Kookie!" you said excitedly, forcing him to skip with you.
On your way down the corridor you passed a few groups of people that the boys seemed to know, stopping for introductions quickly before continuing on your way.
One of the groups of girls passing by started calling after Jin, who was strutting down the hall behind you.
"Oppa! Oppa! Where are you going?!" one of them asked, jumping up and down excitedly in front of him.
"Ladies ladies, Mr Worldwide Handsome has some important business to take care of in Seoul. I'll be back later!" he said, walking over to pluck a single leaf from a nearby potted plant.
You watched as he turned the leaf into a beautiful red rose, handing it to one of the girls and winking before walking to catch up with Hoseok, who looked like he was going to burst into laughter at any moment.
You smiled, rolling your eyes and continued down the corridor.
How does he go from neurotic housewife to 'worldwide handsome' so quick like that?
The driver ended up being a bit late, so you were sat on the white stone steps with Jungkook, flipping through your phone and laughing together at funny memes.
You heard the doors to the school burst open behind you, turning around to see Jin panting and holding out a jacket towards Taehyung.
"You better take this, so you don't catch a cold." he said between breaths, "Look how thin your clothes are!"
Taehyung snatched the jacket from his hands, blushing and thanking him under his breath.
And we're back to housewife? Jin really is something else.. you thought, chuckling to yourself.
Once the car arrived you all piled in, talking and laughing the whole way to Seoul. As you drove through the city you gazed out the window at the tall buildings and crowded streets, never having seen anything like it before. Namjoon had directed the driver to drop you off in the Myeong-dong shopping district, since it was the largest and seemed to suit everyone's needs.
After arriving you all hopped out of the car, making note of the final 11:00pm pick up time before deciding who was going where first.
You had split into two groups, opting to tag along with Jungkook and Taehyung who were going to hit Zara and UNIQLO first.
The next few hours were spent following around the two boys, waiting outside changing rooms while they tried on clothes and breaking up small arguments over which color worked better with whatever pants Taehyung had picked up.
"Are you trying to impress Ji-Yoo or something?" Jungkook asked suddenly, angrily flipping through the racks after one of their small arguments.
"I don't have even the slightest interest in her anymore." Taehyung replied coldly from where he stood beside you.
"Ji-Yoo?" you asked questioningly.
"Tae's ex girlfriend, one of the hundreds of girls who have been after him since first year." Jungkook said to you, turning around to roll his eyes.
"Don't make me sound like a fuckboy, it wasn't even that serious." Taehyung spat, turning to walk to the other side of the store.
You had no idea Taehyung was so popular with women, but thinking about it now you couldn't really be surprised. The boy looked like he was carved out of marble by the gods themselves.
Another hour of shopping later you were already exhausted. You had known the boys were stylish, that much was obvious. But you hadn't known how serious they really were about it until now.
At one point you were dragged, reluctantly, into the Gucci store by Taeyhung. Moaning for the first 20 minutes at how expensive everything was and how out of place you felt.
You had finally plopped yourself down onto a sofa, leaning back and stretching out your arms. You had no idea how long you'd have to be here, might as well rest for a bit. Jungkook sat beside you, showing you the pictures Hoseok had sent him of the boys shopping.
You laughed at the last one, Jin's personality coming through way too strong.
"You know Y/N, these shoes would look really good with your outfit!" Taeyhung said suddenly, pulling your attention away from Jungkook's phone.
He walked over to you from where he had been admiring the shoe racks, holding out a pair of white runners.
They were probably the most extravagant running shoes you had ever seen in your life. They were white, kind of over-sized with bands of crystals crossing in the front of them.
"They look like they cost more than my life" you grumbled at him.
"Hardly, they're about the equivalent of $1500 or something like that." he said nonchalantly, shrugging his shoulders, "Please try them on!"
"There is no way in hell those are going on my feet." you said stubbornly, crossing your arms, "I can't afford them anyways!"
"I'll buy them for you, come on just try them on and then we can go get coffee!"
"Just humor him" Jungkook said, nudging your side, "He won't give up until you try them on, trust me."
You finally gave in after Jungkooks input, cursing yourself for actually liking them as you walked around the store with Taehyung in tow.
You had to admit, he really looked cool when he was talking about fashion, it made him seem so artistic. You hadn't had much of a chance to talk to Taehyung before today and you were really enjoying the time you were spending together.
After you had taken the shoes off, Taehyung had sent you and Jungkook ahead to get seats at the cafe. You were going to meet the rest of the guys there for a late lunch so you wanted to make sure you could save eight seats.
About half an hour later Taehyung came strolling in, Gucci bags hanging off his shoulders.
"Damn Tae, you really broke the bank in that store huh" you said, laughing slightly at how big the bags looked next to his slim frame.
"Well actually, one of them is for you..." he replied, awkwardly dropping one of the bags down in front of you.
"Huh?" you stared at him, unmoving.
"Its nothing really, just a small treat for dealing with me and Kookie all day...." he replied, sitting down and motioning for you to look in the bag.
You stood up and peered inside, pulling out a large box.
You lifted the lid, already knowing what you were about to find.
Sure enough, there they were, the Gucci shoes he had you try on in the store.
"Tae... these are too much..." you said, feeling guilty at the amount of money he just spent on you.
"You looked really good in them, I wanted to get them for you" he replied, blushing slightly.
There was no way you could turn him down after you saw the shy look on his face, so you took them out of the box to admire them.
"Should I put them on now?" you asked, holding them up.
"Do it do it!" Jungkook gushed from beside you while Taehyung just smiled and nodded.
You put them on, switching out your old shoes and packing them back into the box.
You posed for the two boys, earning yourself some exaggerated oohs and awes.
You had all finally settled down, about to order more coffee when the rest of the boys came into the cafe.
"Hey guys, hey Y/N!" came Namjoons voice first, coming over to sit beside Taehyung.
"I'm starving, I need to eat now or I swear I'm going to die." Jin said dramatically, taking the seat beside Jungkook and immediately grabbing the menu off the table.
Jimin came around the table to sit next to you, noticing your new attire as he sat down, "Oh woah, nice shoes Y/N!"
"Oh.. thanks" you said, blushing for the millionth time around him, "Tae got them for me."
"Oh did he?" he asked, pausing and looking over at Taehyung before shifting his gaze back to you, "They look really good on you."
Was that a hint of jealousy? Or am I delusional?
You smiled at him, trying not to show how much his compliment just affected you.
"Can we order now?" Yoongi asked impatiently, already flagging down the waiter.
While you were all eating the other boys told you about the stores they visited, showing you the items they bought from the bags they were carrying. They had decided it would be fun if everyone switched groups for the second half of the day. You were grouped with Hoseok, Namjoon and Jimin. Just the thought of getting to spend more time with Jimin made your heart flutter in your chest.
You left the cafe shortly after, waving goodbye to a pouty Jungkook. He had begged to switch into your group, but it didn't take long for Jin to convince him to leave without you when he dangled the idea of the video game store in front of him. Jin, Taehyung, and Yoongi were also going to try out the new VR exhibition and Jungkook just couldn't resist.
You made your way towards the train station with the three boys, agreeing to a tour of the city for the second half of the day.
You were stuck to Namjoon's side for most of the journey, being fed lots of knowledge about the history of Seoul and Korea in general. You weren't usually into touristy things but you were completely enthralled by the boy's vast knowledge. You didn't even mind that you barely had a chance to talk with Jimin, hours passed and you were having fun the entire time.
You hadn't thought to even check what time it was until you heard your phone ringing in your bag.
You reached into the front pocket of your backpack, bringing out your phone to answer.
"Hello?"
"Y/N! It's your best bunk bud! Where are you guys?" Jungkook asked, his voice sounding slightly panicked.
"Um we're at N Seoul Tower, why? Are you okay?" you asked worriedly.
"You're not in Myeong-dong? Y/N its 10:50! The the car leaves in 10 minutes!" he replied, the panic in his voice becoming more apparent.
"What?!" you shouted, pulling your phone away to look at the time on your phone, your stomach dropping when you saw Jungkook was right.
"Damn it.... shit... we won't be able to get there in time!" you yelled into the phone, feeling your eyes well up with tears.
We're going to be stranded in the city all night? Isn't it dangerous? What if something bad happens? Your mind was swirling with thoughts, each one making your heart quicken in your chest.
"Y/N are you okay? What's happening?" Jimin asked, appearing from behind you.
You didn't reply, you just passed Jimin the phone, not able to speak without the anxiety making you burst into tears.
Jimin took the phone from your hands, calling over to Hoseok before putting the phone to his ear to talk to Jungkook.
You leaned against the nearest wall trying to calm down, taking deep breaths and closing your eyes.
"Hey hey, don't worry! Y/N give me your hands!" Hoseok's voice came from beside you.
You turned to him, still trying to stop yourself from having an anxiety attack.
Hoseok saw the panicked look on your face, clasping his hands around yours immediately as if he was trying to warm them.
The second your hands touched you felt a wave of calm rush over your body, your heart rate slowed and you felt the thoughts in your head clear. A ringing started in your ears, similar to how it felt that first day in Elements class, but you didn't have time to dwell on it because it immediately dissipated. All that was left was a comforting tingling feeling in your palms.
You let out a long sigh of relief, looking up to see Hoseok flashing you his sunshine smile.
"Feel better?" he asked, squeezing your hands before letting them go.
"Yeah, loads. Thanks Hobi, I really owe you one" you smiled back, lifting yourself up from where you had been leaning against the wall. "Is the tingling thing normal?" you asked, lifting your hands up to Hoseok.
"Huh? What tingling thing?" he asked, one eyebrow raised at you.
"Hey guys, so yeah bad news... we won't be going back to the school tonight" Jimin said, interrupting you and Hoseok, "But Joonie has a good idea!"
"There's a hotel not far down the street from where we are now, lets head down there and rent a room for the night!" Namjoon said, appearing with your phone in his hands, holding it out to you.
You followed the boys down to the hotel, sitting in the lobby chairs with Jimin while Hoseok and Namjoon went up to the front desk. You were staring at the large aquarium behind you, watching all the colorful fish swim around.
You looked over to see Jimin tapping his fingers against the glass at a few fish that were swimming near him, you noticed he was making kissy faces at them. You smiled to yourself.
When the two older boys were done they came over to get you, leading you to the elevator and up to the 26th floor. The hotel wasn't super fancy and the hallways were quite narrow but once you had entered your room your jaw dropped.
"Hoseok convinced the front desk lady to give us a free upgrade to a suite! There's two bedrooms, one with a double bed and another with two singles." Namjoon said, walking into the living room of the hotel and dropping his bags on the table.
The boys decided that Hoseok and Namjoon would take the double bed so you and Jimin could both have singles. You tried not to think too much about the flutter in your chest at the thought of sharing a room with Jimin alone tonight.
The boys went to order room service right away, but you opted for an early night instead. You took your time in the bathroom showering and taking off your makeup. After drying your hair you changed into the hotel pajamas, another perk that Hoseok had whipped up for all of you.
You came back into the room to find it empty, sighing in relief you immediately crawled into bed and turned off the light.
You were almost asleep when you heard the door to the room creak open, and footsteps make their way into the bed opposite you.
"Y/N? Are you awake" Jimin whispered from where he had settled into bed.
"Yeah I'm awake" you replied.
"I- um" he started, pausing for a moment before continuing, "I just wanted to say I thought you looked really nice today."
You almost choked on your own spit, your cheeks burning so much that you were thankful it was dark in the room.
"Oh.. really?" you wanted to hit yourself, that was the stupidest thing you've ever said.
Jimin laughed nervously, "Yeah, really."
"T-thanks" you muttered back, still cursing at yourself in your head.
"I was um- I've been meaning to ask all day but.." Jimin started again, making your heart quicken, "Did you want to eat lunch with me in the courtyard on Monday?"
Your breath caught in your throat.
Is he asking me out? No.... No that's ridiculous.
"Yeah sure Jimin, that would be nice" you whispered back, trying your best to sound cool.
"What class do you have before lunch?" he asked.
"I uh- I have Astronomy and Astrophysics" you replied, desperately hoping he couldn't hear your heart that was threatening to beat itself out of your chest.
"I'll come get you when class is finished, okay?" he said.
"Okay, sounds good" you replied, again wanting to hit yourself for not coming up with something more profound to say.
"Can't wait!" he said excitedly.
You heard the sheets on his bed rustle as he settled into them, "Goodnight Y/N"
"Goodnight Jimin" you replied, turning to snuggle into your blankets.
Your mind swirled with thoughts as you tried to calm down enough to fall asleep.
Did that seriously just happen?
