Chapter 18
To say you got stared at on your way out of the Elemental Temple would be the understatement of the century.
You'd prefer to describe it as if you were a unicorn in a glass box in the middle of Times Square.
Even though you had tucked yourself under you bunk bud's arm, pulling the tall and stocky Namjoon in front of you, every single person that passed still managed to burn a hole into your soul with their incessant stares.
Well, this is traumatizing
I think I would have preferred to have no Elements at all...
At some point you caught the bright light of a phone camera going off, which only made you groan and hide your face into the muscly baby's chest.
When you finally reached the dorm you sprinted to the common room couch, crashing onto it and screaming into the closest pillow.
"I don't think she's handling it well...."
A voice you recognized as your bunk bud piped up, followed by the sound of someone getting hit.
"YAH! What was that for!" Jungkook whined.
"For not keeping your big mouth shut" Yoongi grumbled back.
A moment later you felt your shoulders being lifted up off the couch, arms bringing your head to rest in the lap of somebody.
You didn't need to see to know who it was, the warmth radiating off his body was more than enough indication.
You turned onto your side, trying not to catch eye contact with Yoongi who was now stroking your hair comfortingly, as you reached for the remote off the table.
But a hand caught your wrist almost as soon as you had touched it.
"Ah ah ah, I don't think so missy!" Jin scolded from above, raising his spatula to your face, "You've got to fix your appearance and then we have to get you into your gown for tonight's banquet!"
You furrowed your eyebrows at the flower boy in confusion.
Just how many wardrobe changes will I have today?
And since when is he the damn fashion guru of this dorm?
"And that goes for the rest of you as well! Chop chop, into the showers at once! All of you smell of Ji-Hye's nasty ritual sage."
You giggled as you watched all the boys smell themselves for confirmation and scrunch their noses up in disgust, one by one turning towards the bathrooms, including Jin.
You used the allotted alone time to take a quick cat-nap, deciding that even Jin's whirlwind of momma-bear furry couldn't scare you away from a little more rest.
Almost as soon as your eyes were shut, you felt yourself being pulled into a dream, a purple haze covering the blackness behind your eyes before morphing into a brilliant light.
As the light died down, you began looking around at your surroundings, the scenery now before you quite obviously not from your current time period.
It looks like a setting from one of those Joseon Dynasty dramas mom made me watch before I came here...
Surrounded by nothing but nature, you could almost sense something familiar about the garden you were in. Be it your new connection to Spirit you didn't know, but it felt like you had been here before.
It felt like the school's courtyard... except it wasn't, at least not so literally.
And how could it be?
This was most probably centuries before the school was even built
As if on queue to your sudden sense of another presence, your eyes shot up.
An older woman dressed in hanbok was standing patiently in front of you, a kind smile spread across her face.
As your eyes met, you felt an instant connection to her, it was almost as if you knew her without ever having seen her before.
"Hello, dear. I've been expecting you for quite some time now." She said softly, her voice ringing instant familiarity through your ears.
"W-who are you?" you timidly spoke up, already feeling like you knew the answer.
"My name is Hwang Jin-Yi, but you already knew that, didn't you?" She replied with a knowing smile.
What the hell...
Why is she so familiar..?
"The garden is beautiful, is it not?" She continued, gesturing her hand out to the familiar nature, "Much different to the one that now resides in the centre of your school."
How do I kn-
"You're probably thinking right now, how it is that you know who I am... without ever having met me before" She spoke breaking your train of thought.
"The answer to that question is that you and I are the s-"
"Y/N"
Jimin's soft soothing voice whispered all around you like an echo, sounding so close yet miles away at the same time.
At his calling you whipped your head around to look for him, seeing nothing but a meadow of flowers.
When you brought your sights back to the old woman she had vanished, the garden seemingly empty of anyone but yourself.
"Y/N"
At the sound of his voice again your first instinct was to shout out for him.
"Jimin! Jimin can you hear me!!"
Your eyes frantically searched as the garden started to blur, blackness dotting the outside of your vision before covering it completely.
"Y/N..... Y/N it's time to wake up now"
Just as you were about to call out to Jimin again, a purple haze covered your vision, the dark space from your dream eliminated as you suddenly felt a hand brush over your shoulder.
You jolted awake, sitting up right on the couch, rubbing at your eyes to adjust to the bright lights surrounding you.
"Jimin...?" You croaked out sleepily.
God what a weird dream...
"Huh? Jimin? It's me... Taehyung.."
You slowly opened your eyes, fixing your sights on the clearly offended water boy.
"Oh- S-Sorry Tae, I just got confused.." You mumbled out, feeling guilty for calling out the wrong name.
You offered the boy a smile, thankful when his own features relaxed in response.
"Here" He piped up suddenly, reaching down before pulling up a black gift wrapped box, placing it on the space in front of you.
You stared down at it, confused.
Taehyung cleared his throat, blushing slightly as he answered your unasked question.
"I-It's a gift, for you know... the Element Ceremony."
Your eyes flickered from him to the gift, mind racing to figure out why he would do such a thing. It was far too generous, and it's not like you deserved it.
"Open it" He said with a smile, nudging the box closer to you.
Hesitating slightly, you peered down at the box, covered in glittery wrapping paper and a black silk bow tied delicately on top.
Your hands shakily pulled at the two ends of the bow, undoing it before gliding your finger under the paper as to not rip it apart.
As you revealed the letters on the box underneath, you gasped.
Jimmy Choo?
Does this boy not have a credit limit?
"Tae...." You sighed, pausing in your unwrapping to shake your head disapprovingly, "It's too much!"
Taehyung just smiled his boxy grin at you, motioning for you to finish opening his gift.
With a deep sigh you complied, lifting the lid of the box and folding back the paper to reveal the most beautiful pair of heels you had ever seen in your whole life.
"Oh my god..." You whispered out, lifting one of the shoes up so you could admire them more. "They're stunning..."
You heard Taehyung giggle, clearly taking delight in your speechless reaction.
"They match your dress too! Jin told me the color so I could surprise you!"
You leaned off the sofa to wrap your arms around the boy, whispering a thank you into his ear as you did so.
"Y/N! Are you ready to try on yo- WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
Jin's screech taking you by surprise you immedietly scrambled off the sofa.
"I-I-"
"GET IN THE SHOWER YOUNG LADY! NOW!"
You hadn't realized until now that Taehyung was already dressed in a newer, fancier tux, indicating that the rest of the boys were probably already ready as well.
And you had overslept.
Without another word, the mysterious garden woman now pushed so far back in your mind, you silently thanked Taehyung, fumbling to put the shoes back in their box as you quickly escaped to the bathroom to begin getting ready.
Knowing you had cut your preparation time in half by sleeping, you rushed through the motions of getting ready.
Thankfully your hair was on your side today and you managed to get it into loose curls in under an hour, followed by your usual everyday makeup look with just a little extra eyeliner and highlight.
Every once in a while you'd catch a glimpse of your new elemental marks in the mirror, physically having to tear your eyes away from it in order to focus on the task at hand.
As you exited the bathroom, you let out a shriek at the man standing just outside the doorway.
"YAH! YOONGI! WHAT ARE YOU DOING" You shouted, clutching your chest in shock.
"Aish, calm down Y/N. I just came to tell you that Jin is waiting for you" He replied, a sinister smirk plastered on his face.
He enjoyed that didn't he?
Terrifying me.
"Where is he?" you sighed, trying to steady your breathing.
Without a word the fire boy pointed towards your shared bedroom door, mouthing a 'good luck' and sending you a cute wink before stalking into the kitchen.
You looked nervously over in the direction you were pointed to, feeling a little anxious to find out what Jin had cooked up for you.
With the Jimmy Choo box clutched tightly against your chest, you shuffled over to the door, turning the handle with a deep breath before peering inside.
"THERE YOU ARE!" Jin exclaimed, immediately running over to usher you inside.
"Sorry Jin, I went as fast as I could" You answered honestly.
As you looked past the flower boy in your path you caught a glimpse of what was surely meant to be your gown for the night.
Jesus....
Am I a Disney princess now?
It's extravagance even placed on a mannequin was overwhelming you so much you had to seriously question exactly how fancy this banquet was going to be.
"Jin... this is crazy. How can you afford all this?!" You blurted out
He just laughed, pushing you towards the dress as he began to back out the door.
"My parents own a hotel, I'm a rich AND handsome boy" He joked, blowing a kiss at you before abruptly shutting the door on your possible reaction.
You sighed for what seemed like the hundredth time that day, turning your attention back towards the gown.
Well... I guess being a princess for one night can't hurt.
....Right?
You had luckily managed to get the dress on without ruining anything, laughing to yourself at the fact you had to practically dive into it so you wouldn't damage the glitter.
Once you had pulled it up you realized that that the zipper was going to pose a big problem.
Despite trying to reach behind your back a few dozen times and failing, you still felt weird about asking one of the boys to help you.
Holding the bodice in place with one hand you quietly cracked the door open just enough that you would be sure your voice would travel through.
Ducking out of sight you called out for your bunk bud.
"Kookie! Can you come here for a second? I need your help!"
You waited patiently, at first met with silence before you heard the light shuffling of feet making their way to the door.
You backed away as it started to open, letting Jungkook come inside.
"I just need help zipping up th-"
Your words caught in your throat as Jimin came into view, his eyes immediately growing wide as soon as he saw you.
"Ah- Y/N... I-... wow..."
You blushed at his stumbling words, subtly relishing in the fact that he seemed just as flustered as you were.
You bit your lip nervously as Jimin tried to clear his throat.
"Ah-um- you needed help?" He asked, eyes roaming the length of your body, "Jungkookie is in the Hyungs room getting ready."
"I just umm... I need help with the zipper." You replied, stupidly motioning to it as if he didn't know what a damn zipper was.
The idea of Jimin seeing you like this made you want to die on the spot but you knew you couldn't back out now, at risk of offending him.
And besides, Kookie or no Kookie, you couldn't leave the room with the back of your dress wide open like this.
Jimin paused for a moment, eyeing you before he slowly padded around behind you.
You sucked in a deep breath as you waited, moments passing before you felt his fingers graze the exposed skin on your lower back.
You shivered against his touch, the proximity of him mixed with your half-dressed state making your heart thump loudly in your chest.
His finger glided gently up your spine, slowly as if he was taking his time.
The fabric is delicate.
That's all it is.
Don't get carried away.
Your attempt at reasoning with yourself unfortunately didn't calm you down as a deep blush formed on your cheeks.
"There" Jimin whispered from behind you, his hand still touching your back.
"T-thanks" You stuttered out.
You felt butterflies swarm your stomach as Jimin traced his hand back down your spine, resting it for a moment at your waist before walking around to face you.
"You look so beautiful Y/N"
You blushed wildly under his intense stare, your hair falling in front of your face as you ducked in embarrassment.
Jimin quickly closed the distance between you both, reaching up to tuck your hair behind your ear, his hand trailing under your jaw to lift your head up.
"Y/N! Are you ready!? I want to see the dress that Jin hyu-"
The sound of your bunk bud's approaching voice from outside the room made you and Jimin instantly repel from each other.
The door swung open, bouncing off the wall as Jungkook burst through.
"Wow! You look AWESOME!" He beamed, running over to grab your hand, making you twirl on the spot.
You couldn't help but giggle at his over-enthusiasm.
"And you look awesome too Kookie!" You smiled, admiring his floral overcoat.
"Thanks! Taehyung helped me pick it out!" he said proudly, looking down and checking himself out. "Come on, we'd better join the rest. I know Jin's dying to see you in that!"
"Of course he is," you chuckled, shaking your head at the mere thought of it.
You were the last to follow the boys walking out of your shared bedroom and into the common room, but as you were trying to move through the doorway you remained stuck in the same place.
Your princess gown had somehow wedged you firmly in the narrow doorway and there was no way of getting you out on your own without damaging the dress.
"Uhh- guys... A little help?" you squeaked out, embarrassment clear in your voice.
"Oh my god!" you could hear Jin squeal all the way from the kitchen, pans crashing to the ground as he hurriedly walked back into the common room and to your aid.
He slapped his hand over his mouth in bewilderment, while your bunk bud was too busy rolling on the floor laughing at your predicament.
"When I get out from here you're toast, Kookie!" you said through gritted teeth, narrowing your eyes at the unhelpful boy.
Both Jin and Jimin went to either side of you, trying to flatten your tulle skirt without damaging the fabric in an attempt to squeeze you through the tight door frame.
But it was a wasted effort.
As they paused to catch their breath, Taehyung walked back into the common room with his mouth hanging to the floor at the sight of you.
"Y/N! You look... beauti-"
"Don't just stand there and gawk Tae! Come over here and help us!" Jin snapped at the poor boy, waving his spatula furiously in the air.
"Woah, calm down hyung. You look like you're about to burst another blood vessel." Yoongi smirked, seemingly joining in on the 'fun'.
Next was Namjoon to walk into the common room, scrunching his face up as he watched the rest of the boys desperately trying to pry you out of the frame.
"No! Don't smush it Taehyung! You'll damage the stitching!!! Soft pushes, SOFT!" Jin screeched from below you, making you roll your eyes amusingly.
"Uh- hyung, Can't you just you know.... Move the door frame with your affinity?" Namjoon finally spoke up, scratching at the back of his neck.
"Oh, right!" Jin coughed awkwardly, standing up to straighten out his suit and fix his disheveled hair. "Stand still, Y/N. This won't hurt at all..."
"W-whaat?!" You squeaked manically.
Hurt?
This isn't dangerous is it??
But before you could worry yourself any further, Jin had swifty widened the wooden door frame for you to comfortably pass through without any troubles.
"Why didn't I think of that..." you could hear Jin whisper to himself, shaking his head in disappointment.
"I'm always full of great ideas Hyung. I'm the brains, you're the beauty, remember?" Namjoon said as he patted Jin on the shoulder. "Now watch this!"
You froze in confusion as Namjoon stalked towards you, lifting his palms to your dress and swiping them in circles as if he was trying to pet the air surrounding you.
You barely made out the whispered Latin escaping his lips in a chant as you watched specs of glittering light manifest from his hand, attaching themselves to your dress.
As he made his way around, you could hear sniffles coming from behind, making you turn your head to see Jin with a handkerchief up to his eyes.
"Just perfect Joon, absolutely perfect!" He cried.
"And there we go! Our very own princess!" Namjoon said proudly, motioning for everyone to look at you.
You twirled in a circle, deciding to play into the dramatics as the boys clapped around you.
"Alright everyone! Let's go!" Jin called, clapping his hands to grab the attention back before ushering everyone out into the hall.
Not forgetting to widen the door for you once more as you left the boys dormitory, Jin fired you a smouldering wink, reminding you again just how quickly he can transition between Momma Jin to worldwide handsome.
These boys...
I don't deserve them.
