Sometimes it takes a good fall to really know where you stand.

Being trapped in a small remote cabin in the middle of no where is the worst, especially when you're used to living on a flying ship that can take you anywhere.

I feel like a caged animal.

Probably looked like one, too.

"Uh... okay... G7."

Cole rubbed his face and grumbled something beneath his breath.

I chuckled. "Say it." He glared at me. "Say. It."

"You sunk my battle ship."

"And that ladies and gentlemen is five-to-oh. First to ten?"

Cole leaned back and flopped on the floor with a huff. "My spirit has sunk along with my ships."

"Oh boo-hoo."

He lifted his head to stick his tongue out at me and I returned a laugh. "Can we please go play in the snow?"

"You know what snow is made of right?"

"Well duh wate- oh. Sorry."

"Yeah. Sorry. It sucks. I wish I could let you go out on your own, but..."

"But then I would get kidnapped or something stupid. Yeah yeah yeah." I shook my head back and forth with the roll of my eyes. "Whateverrrr."

I paced the length of my room, thinking. Maybe, just maybe I could surprise him. Yeah.

On my tiptoes, I snuck out, grabbing a snow shovel from the utility closet. Silently, I made my way outside to the little porch we had on the side deck. As quick as I could, I shoveled the snow off the deck and laid down a dry tarp. A few more trips in and out, and I had set up a little tent outside, free of pesky snow. All that was left was to get the heater...

I sauntered my way back in as if I hadn't done something secret. A small space heater was lodged in the corner of my room and I snagged a blanket and pillows before putting up some final touches.

I shivered against the cold wind beating down on my back. I couldn't feel my fingers and I had the worst time plugging in the heater. "Shoot. Shoot." Rubbing my hands together fiercely, I willed warmth back into them. After numerous tries, I eventually willed my finger back into submission and plugged the stupid heater in. I sighed as the gentle humming warmed the tent up and defrosted my fingers.

"Hey idiot. Go put some shoes on!" I yelled as I sat on the sofa. Cole peeked his head out of his room and frowned. "Why?"

"Because I said so."

"...okay....?"

He returned moments later, tennis shoes on his feet, sloppily laced. I grabbed an old shirt I had stolen from my room and tied it over his eyes, him protesting the entire time. "I swear, Y/n-"

"Stop being a big baby."

I slipped a fluffy hoodie over my head and grabbed his hand to lead him outside. I winced as he laced his fingers with mine.

Pulling him along, I tried to maneuver our way around the snow, over to the snow free tent.

"Are we outside?"
"No."

"Seriously, are you trying to kill me?" He sounded mad.

"I promise, please just trust me."

A grumble and I pushed him into the tent, clicked on the heater, and zipped it closed.

Finally, I untied his blindfold and scooted back into the corner. "There, geez. You can go back inside now if you want, sorry."

His eyes widened as he looked out the mesh part of the tent and out into the snow.

I pulled a blanket over me and snuggled up with my pile of pillows.

"Why did you do all this?" He asked, dumbfounded.

"So we could see the snow without you dying... what else?"

"Huh. Thank you."

"Yeah well you can leave now if you want. It's fine or whatever."

He frowned and turned to look at me, his head tilted. "Okay Miss Passive Aggressive, chill. I love it, thank you."

I just shrugged and turned my gaze to outside. Small snowflakes fell, dancing in the air.

Cole looked around the tent and snatched the blanket I was under from me. "Hey!" I protested, casting him a glare.

"You only brought out one blanket. Share."

A growl in response, and I slipped it back over my legs. He slid closer to me, eyes glued to the outside.

"Snow is really pretty, huh?"

"Every snowflake is different."

"Crazy."

"Yeah, sure." I slid down under the blanket, tucking it up to my chin. "I want to go help the others."

Cole sighed. "Not right now."

"Honestly, I don't care what you say. I have to go help them. They're my team. I'll go on my own if you won't come with me."

He frowned, closing his eyes. "Do I have a choice then?"

"I mean, not really."

A sigh, and he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close to him. "Anything for you then."
