"Too much on my mind but nothing to say..."

I came to.

Head spinning, aching, I blinked my eyes open, the harsh lights hurting. My hand rubbed my head and I pushed myself to sit up. A glance around and I found myself in my room, the blinds open wide and the dawn's sunlight pouring in. Clumsily, I stood and took a ragged breath in. My hand went to my damaged throat and my heart raced as I felt the bandage under my fingers.

Everything came racing back all at once, letting myself be the bait to get Jay back, the fight with Jax, him cutting my throat. I shook, unsure. Unsure of what had happened, if I could talk again, what happened to Jay, to Jax.

A glance around my room and I snagged a blanket to drag with me over my shoulders. Slowly, I made my way to Jays room, cracking the door open the slightest bit. A small cry left my lips when I found it empty. I stumbled to Coles room, praying, hoping, he was there.

The door freaked open and relief flooded my heart when I saw his snoring frame. Quietly, I tiptoed to his bed and sat down on the foot, letting ragged breaths into my lungs slowly. Each inhale burned and ached as it moved the muscles in my damaged throat. My eyes wandered his room, cleaner than I had seen it in months since the incident. A smile spread across my lips, proud of him for getting back up from that.

Cole's sitting up suddenly made me jump and I looked over to watch him blink slowly at me as his brain processed. "Good morning..." his words were slow and I smiled as he rubbed his eye with a hand. "It's really early... why are you up?"

"Where is Jay?" I whispered, my voice frail, but working!

He leaned forward and picked me up, pulling me towards him. "Shhh, he's at the hospital, in recovery. He'll be out in a few days." I nodded, laying my head on his chest.

"You need rest, too." Cole finagled the blanket around my shoulders so it covered all of me and laid me down beside him. I slid closer to him, laying my head on his chest and pulling the blanket up to my chin. A smile from him and I felt his arm wrap around me.

Three months later, I found myself with Jay, sitting on the railing of the Bounty. We were both mostly fully healed and were enjoying the period of peace life had blessed us with.

"That ones a duck!" I pointed above us, to a cloud, smile spread on my face.

"No no no, it's a dragon. Duh." Jay countered with a chuckle.

"I see a duck." I grumbled in response, elbowing him gently. "How are you feeling today?"

He met my gaze and rubbed the back of his head. "Better. I'm still really sore in some places. How your throat?"

"Other than sounding like I've smoked all 800 years of my life? Fine." I joked.

Jay frowned, shaking his head. "Oh you're fine!"

"If only it was Jay, then we wouldn't have to listen to him talk all the time!"

"You're one to talk, Kai." Nya elbowed her brother as they and the rest of the team walked onto the deck.

"Hey guys. Quick question: duck or dragon?" I pointed to the cloud we were just looking at which has morphed shape completely.

"I'd say... a duck dragon." Lloyd said after a moment of pondering.

I huffed in response.

"Um, maybe a weird cowboy hat." Cole laughed at his own words as he came to stand behind me, resting his chin on my shoulder. "Or a dog."

Speak of the devil, Devin pranced out onto the deck only to bark at Kai to play with her. He obliged, chasing her around the ship.

"Nerd."

"Hey, we should all go to dinner tonight." Cole piped up, shuffling to sit beside me on the railing. "We haven't done that in..."

"Forever."

"Technically, three years, 6 months and 27 days." Zane corrected with a slight smile.

Nya elbowed the nindroid with a smirk. "Sure. Since we haven't been out in a while it's be fun!"

"I'm down if we don't have to bring this dog!" Kai said as Devin wagged her tail at his side.

Jay nodded and I shrugged. "Sure."

I pulled my hair back into a ponytail admiring the old wine colored dress I had on. I let my curled hair fall back down again and gave Devin her dinner before filing out of my room. I met the team on the deck and smiled as Nya offered to take me on her elemental dragon.

I leaned into the warm air as she flew, enjoying the last few rays of sunlight.

"I'm glad you made it. When we found you after Jax had gotten to you and ambushed him, I thought you were dead."

"FYI, I'm not."

"I know that! It's just horrible to feel like you're going to loose someone close to you." Nya huffed and turned to cast a quick smile at me.

"I'm glad I'm here too. I still get to see where life is going to take me next." I laughed as Cole, flying beside us, caught my eye and blew a kiss to me. Dork.

We sat outside the restaurant, talking and laughing and having the time of our lives. My heart soared every time I saw one of my friends laugh or smile. Dinner passed quickly, and we opted to get some desert too.

Jay glanced at me and smiled, wide and toothy before Cole cleared his throat. I frowned, confused as Kai winked at him and the conversations ceased around the table.

He took a breath in, then out. "Y/n, I think it's safe to say that we're all amazed at what you've done not only for Jay, but for all of us."

I raised my eyebrows, off put.

"You mean everything to me. For some reason, you stayed by my side when I was facing hard times and you picked me up time and time again. Without you, I'd be incomplete." He took my hand in his and I glanced around the table before looking back at him.

"I love you, more than anything. Which is why-" he pulled his hand back, stood, and kneeled at my side. I watched in shock as he pulled a small black box from his pocket and opened it.

"-I ask: will you marry me?"

Fin.
