Chapter 35

Previously on Chapter 34

I just let out a nervous chuckle at everyone's reaction. But well... it can't be helped. We'd need lots of gold wire if we want to make the cellphone as our ultimate weapon. I can only hope everyone won't get irritated and back down on the task ahead. The gold wire is only the beginning of our journey to make the cell phone. There's still a LONG way to go.

-The Age Of Energy-

Y/N P.O.V

Everyone is busy with their wire making. I sit next to Suika, as I twirl the gold wire. My mind wondering what Chrome is up to. Earlier he suddenly went off, looking pretty hyped about whatever it is he's planning. It's been three days since he left with Grandpa Kaseki doing who knows what.

I turn my head to the side when I notice movement from my peripheral vision. I realize it's Chrome as he crawls over to us. "Chrome!" I said. I stand up and rush over to him. I help him sit up, letting his body leans against mine.

"It's done, Senku... Y/N. We have spent three days for it" he said. I turn to look at Senku. He quickly rush towards the direction. I help Chrome stands up as we follow after Senku.

I gasp when I saw what Chrome and Grandpa Kaseki had been working on. "Wow... I can't believe this" I said. I turn to look at Chrome who seem proud with his work. I grin and gently pat his shoulder while grinning proudly at him. "Amazing work, Chrome... Grandpa Kaseki. Both of you have done wonders. This is amazing!" I said. He let out a laugh while rubbing his neck. I notice his cheeks turning slightly pink.

He turns to look at Senku who just stares at the object in front of us. "Come on, Senku... you can be more shock than that" he said, nudging Senku's side. I shake my head at his antic.

"It's a waterwheel" Senku said. Chrome and Grandpa Kaseki let out a groan of disappointment as they realize Senku and I knew what it is. "I'm very shock alright. I'm impressed that you both can pull this off without any knowledge" he said. Chrome and Grandpa Kaseki starts to celebrate in delight that they can make Senku proud.

"There are more use to this waterwheel than just a cotton candy machine..." I said. Senku nods his head at what I said. I turn to look at him and grin. We head back to the village to grab the things we'd need for our new project.

After a lot of works, we finally got everything done. Senku is kneeling in front of the machine we have just created. "With gears and a waterwheel, the age of human power is over. We're finally harnessing the power of nature! With the unlimited amount of electricity, we have now entered the age of energy" he said. I grin happily and let out a cheer, while clapping my hand in excitement. Now that we have energy, our works will be a lot easier!

"But all our precious electricity is still leaking away... we need to create something to store it" I said. Senku turn to look at me and nod his head in agreement. I turn to look at Chrome and the others to see them look confused.

"Wait... so we can store that electricity?" Ginro said. I smile and nod my head. He still looks confused. I just let out a laugh at his reaction. I turn to look at Senku, giving him a look to tell him that he should be the one to do the explaining.

"We're going to make a storage box. In other words... batteries" he said. We head back to the village so we can start working on the battery. We'll be making it with a glass containers. So it's up to Grandpa Kaseki to create them.

I watch in amazement as the old man manage to create the glass container so skillfully. He never cease to amaze me. The skill he have is amazing. It's skill of a true craftsmen, and it's rare to find someone like him.

Once the battery is done. Ginro walks over to them and eyed them with a doubtful expression. "Is the electricity really stored in these?" He asked. He reaches out to grab the cable. I wince as he gets electrocuted.

He falls on the ground and puff out some smoke. "Well, at least we know it's in there" Kohaku said. I just hum and nod my head in agreement. I feel so bad for Ginro. That's got to be painful.

"Wait... does that means I don't have to do that painful spinning with Kinro anymore?" Ginro said. Senku affirms that it's true, since we have entered the age of energy. This makes Ginro and Kinro excited, as they high five each other.

Well, I'm not so surprise about Ginro's reaction, because he's always been lazy to begin with. But to see someone as diligent as Kinro acted excited about not having to spin the hand cranked generator is quite surprising. Spinning that thing must have been so exhausting for the brothers.

"This isn't time to celebrate though. We still have a lot of things to do. It's time for the spartan age" Senku said. I let out a sigh at what he said. Can't he at least let them have a little moment?

I turn to look at Chrome and Grandpa Kaseki who leans back to back on each other. They look so tired after all of that work. But knowing Senku, he wouldn't let them have a little break.

Senku starts cutting the wood, trying to carve something that looks like a large gear. I'm not sure what they're for though. "This isn't the time to take a break. We still have a lot of things to do" he said, turning his head slightly to look at those two. Yep... I was right.

"That's bad. This is way too spartan..." Chrome said. He sounded breathless. I mean, I can't blame him. He hadn't been sleeping for three days straight, working on making the waterwheel. Now, instead of getting some sleep... they have to keep working.

"Senku... you better watch where you're cut-" I said, turning to look at Senku as he isn't paying attention to the wood he's carving on. The wood breaks, splitting in half. "-ting... never mind" I said, crossing my arms across my chest while letting out a sigh and shake my head.

Chrome and Grandpa Kaseki crawls over to him to take a look of the blueprint. I let out a nervous chuckle when the two of them suddenly gain their strength back as soon as they see the work. Wow... what a drastic change.
