Previously on Chapter 27

"It's total victory for the Kingdom of Science!" Senku said. I wrap my arms around Chrome's neck out of joy. He let out a laugh and return the gesture, wrapping his arms around my waist. Finally! The world is on our side! Science Kingdom won!!

-The Sulfa Drug-

Y/N P.O.V

It's now time for Senku VS Ginro. I kneel down next to Chrome who looks exhausted. He leans his body against mine, probably wanting to make sure things went well between Ginro and Senku. But instead for it to go smooth, Ginro started attacking Senku viciously. I watch in worry as Senku runs around the arena to avoid getting hit.

"That Ginro... we can't let someone like him be the new chief. He's way too scummy" I said. Chrome nods his head at what I said. He slowly reach over to grab Suika's broken mask. He toss it towards Senku. Senku let out a sigh, seemingly aware that he have no choice.

"I guess I don't have a choice" he said, while place his weapon on the mask. The shorter side of the weapon is facing him. He place his feet on top of it, and use his body weight which makes the longer side hits Ginro right in between his feet. Ginro holds his crotch and falls face first on the ground. I burst into laughter at him.

"I'm so glad... now, we can save Ruri..." Chrome said. I turn my head to look at him. His body falls limp as his head falls on my lap. I blink my eyes and place my hand on his cheek, gently patting it to try and wake him up.

Senku walks over towards us. He place the end of the wooden weapon on the ground. "Now is time for the final round. You get to marry Ruri now, it's happy ending for everyone" he said. My heart ache painfully when Senku said Chrome will be marrying Ruri. It can't be avoided though, if he wins the Grand about... Chrome will be the village's chief and Ruri's husband.

"Now get up and..." Senku's voice trailed off when he stares at Chrome, who's head is on my lap. He's still out cold. I let out a nervous laugh while gently caressing his head.

"Um... he's conked out..." Suika said, kneeling next to me as she stares at Chrome. Senku let out a sigh as he stares at Chrome. I turn to look at Senku with a look of shock.

"That means..." I trailed off. Senku's eyes widened when he realize what I'm trying to say. Everyone else seem to realize too, as sweats starts to fall on everyone's face. The referee, Jasper let out a sigh.

"The new village chief, the husband of the priestess... is the winner of the Grand Bout, Senku!" He said, gesturing at Senku with his hand. It's clearly written on Senku's face that he's not happy with what he just heard. I don't blame him ... I mean, he's a man who doesn't believe in love. Let alone, marriage.

He let out a sigh. "So I just have to marry Ruri, and the whole village is mine, right?" He said. He make his way towards Ruri with his hand on his hips. "I'll do it then..." he said. I blink my eyes in surprise. Well... I didn't expect him to agree.

Ruri's father oppose to the result. But Senku couldn't care less about it. He turns to look at the villagers. "Sake!! Bring me the sakes" he said, with his usual scummy face. I rolled my eyes at him and turn to look at Chrome who's still unconscious on my lap. I know I shouldn't... but I feel glad that Chrome didn't ended marrying Ruri. I can no longer ignore the fact that I love him.

I turn my head to look at Senku when he said he's asking for a divorce. Is he serious?! He's not even married for a day... and he's already asking for a divorce?? That man is unbelievable.

Kinro and Ginro rushes towards me and picks up Chrome. We quickly rushes across the bridge. We need to start our drug making process, because Ruri is running out of time judging by how much she's coughing.

Ginro and Kinro places Chrome on the ground. I turn my head noticing Senku holding two sticks. "What is that?" I asked. He ignores me and sticks it into Chrome's nose. I jump back in fright when he starts to scream.

"Wake up and smell the ammonia" Senku said. I let out a sigh and shake my head. Goodness... he's mischievous and mean. But can't blame him for doing that. We need all the hands we can get to make the drugs.

After a long process, the drug is finally completed. All of us let's out a cheer in celebration. Kohaku even start to cry from happiness that her sister is going to get cured. I smile softly to myself.

We cross the village to give the drug to Ruri. After she take the medicine. Senku use the measuring cup, placing it on Ruri's back. Ruri's face turns beet red at his action.

"Say 'eee'" Senku said. He cover his other face so he can focus on the sound. He turn to look at me. "Come, Y/N. You need to listen to this..." he said. I walk forward and he moves aside. I sit down behind Ruri and place my ear on the cup. I close my eyes as I focus on the sound.

"Sounds like a goat bleating..." I said, turning to look at Senku. He nods his head in agreement to what I said. I stand up and place my hands on my hips. "A clear sign that there's some fluid in her lungs" I said. I turn around and notice a dead rat on the ground. I walk up to it and pick it up.

"Good thinking, Y/N... come on, let's head back and do some dissecting" he said. I nod my head. We make our way back to the science lab. I put a mask over my nose and mouth to protect myself from possible infection. Senku doing the same.

I start to cut down the middle of the rat, ignoring the others conversation as I focus on the rat's internal organs. I check the lungs and furrow my eyebrows. There are red inflammation around the lungs. Which means it's virus infection. The question is... what type of virus?
