Third Person's POV

In a nighttime in Lagoon town there was a video call between a teenage girl and a adult.

"I hope the ride was of your comfort" a adult started.

A hot pink haired female was fixing her hair because she has an interview later "it was, thanks for asking. So what made you want to call me?" She asks.

"Apparently there is a rumor spreading like wildfire, there is a boy going to enter the Pokémon Showcase in Lagoon Town." The first voice said.

This caught the girl's attention "A male Pokémon Performer, that's something I like to see" she said before noticing the time on the clock "I have to get going, Palermo" the teen informs

"I understand, take care of yourself, Aria" the woman whose name is Palermo said to the teenage girl whose name is Aria.

The teenager nods "I will, thanks" she said before ending the call

She then sees a Pokévision video which shows a young boy with brownish-orange hair, brown eyes, a swirled ahoge, and long bangs that cover the left side of his face. He wears an oversized light orange shirt with a wide collar and a red zipper. He also wears brown shorts, turquoise sneakers with light orange tabs and white socks. Around his right wrist, he wears a thin gold bangle.

Aria smiles confidently looking forward to see the boy in the showcase "can't wait to see what you can do, mister Performer" she said.

-the next day-

Narrator's POV 

In a beautiful morning in the Lagoon Town in the Kalos region home where live our protagonist of this story, His name is Shoyo, born in the Hoenn Region but raised in Kalos, where he finally will start reaching for his dream and becoming the first male Pokémon performer, his parents would've thought he was only kidding but then they realized that he was being serious when they see him and his partner Shiny Torchic they did nothing else but supporting his dream but sadly his parent wouldn't be there to support him since they passed away when he was very young, and only left is his grandmother, she's aware of her grandson's dream of becoming a performer, do not get the wrong idea, she doesn't have zero problems with Shoyo wanted to accomplish that dream, what worries her is how judgmental the world can be, which brings her to doubt her own grandchild's dream, she doesn't want to admit it, because she's afraid that it'll hurt her grandson's feelings but hides her guilt with a smile.

As for now Shoyo's rocking in a white shirt with light orange buttons and a orange inner collar puff short sleeves and wearing a tiny little hat on his head meanwhile wearing white gloves he wears a brown tank top underneath while wearing orange pants that the legs were rolled up to his lower knees with a big yellow ribbon attached on his right hip which a white Key's located on the center of that ribbon and some red boots

he looks at himself in the mirror "It's finally happening, Torchic,  I finally accomplishing my dream in competing in Pokémon Showcase

he then walks up to the performer's waiting room which he seems a bit anxious not just the fact that he's the only boy in the room, but how well he'll pull the performance off

"Bonjours, Pokémon lovers, and welcome I am your humble host, Monsieur Pierre" a man named Pierre introduces himself.

"Prepare yourselves for a competition magnifique. And now, the Lagoon Town Pokémon Showcase will amaze starting things off with our Rookie Class Division" Pierre explains as he crowd announces "But first, our reigning Kalos Queen, Mademoiselle Aria, has agreed to put on an exhibition performance for one and all" Pierre announces as he gets pulled down to the stage and the lights turn off.

"Be fantastic" a feminine voice is heard as fire ball was seen jumping around the stage.

Everyone was amazed to see the fireball flying around and then a spotlight pointed at a bipedal, fox-like Pokémon. While the majority of its fur is yellow, it has thick black fur on its legs, white arms and face, and a dark orange tail tip. The fur on its cheeks is longer, and a small mane of white fur covers its shoulders and chest. Long, wavy tufts of dark orange fur grow out of its large ears, and its eyes and small nose match this fur in color. When its mouth is open, two pointed teeth can be seen in its upper jaw. Above its developed legs, the fur around its hips sweeps out to either side, resembling a skirt or shorts. Each paw has three small digits.

A certain group off teenager and a child were watching the Pokémon from the audience "Aria's Fennekin evolved into Braixen!" A blonde hair young man stated.

A young man with black hair wearing a white and rec cap and a Pikachu sitting on his shoulder said and pulls out a Pokédex "That what it evolves into" he said looking at his Pokédex.

"Braixen, the Fox Pokémon and the evolved form of Fennekin. To defeat its opponent, Braixen combines the flame from the twig in its tail with its fiery breath, creating a massive Fire Spin."

Braixen dances around with the fire on the stick that it's holding which is actually it's wand.

"Use Fire Spin!" the same feminine voice is heard just a few seconds ago calls as Braixen sticks out its wand, creating a huge flame that then dissolves into multiple streams of fire that spin around.

As the Fire Spin occurs a shadow silhouette of a young girl ascends from the stage as Pierre announces "And here she comes! Our beautiful Kalos Queen, Mademoiselle Aria!" Aria poses greeting the audience and applause.

Aria is a fair-skinned girl with long strawberry pink-colored hair, scarlet eyes, and very wide hips. Occasionally, she wears light pink lipstick and mascara that's nearly invisible. Her most defining characteristic is her warm-hearted, cheery smile. One of her most common outfits consists of a white blouse with a black collar, a pair of long, white gloves, and a blue striped necktie. She also wears a yellow and pink striped skirt, blue striped stockings, pink shoes, and a light blue bow on her head.

"There she is!" one girl stated and another next to her squeals with excitement like any other fan of Aria would.

Braixen then throws its wand up in the air which Aria jumps and catches it herself before gracefully landing back on the stage. Aria then begins to twirl Braixen's wand around before tossing it back to Braixen who caught and twirls its wand and tosses it to Aria and the two keep at it until Braixen balances the wand with its head.

"And for our finish, Fire Blast!" Aria calls.

Braixen put its wand back to its fluffy tail before the Fox Pokémon releases a kanji symbol for fire-shaped blast of yellow-orange fire from its mouth before it explodes and creates a glittery rain.

"Magnifique! Another stunning performance from our Kalos Queen, Mademoiselle Aria!" Pierre announces as Aria and Braixen hold paw/hand and made a princess bow while the crowd applauded for them.

"Perfect!"

"Such precise moves!"

"She's so great"

Then one girl looks at her friend "Hey Serena" she calls.

Serena has fair skin, gray eyes, long legs and a slender frame. She's also got waist-length honey-colored hair that she keeps tied in a low ponytail. Clothing-wise, she wears a very fashionable outfit that consists of a dark pink hat with a black band and white sunglasses on top, a black tank top, a red pleated skirt, black thigh-high stockings, and black sneakers that have a pink semi-circle shaped like a Poké Ball on them.

"What is it Shauna?" Serena questions.

Shauna is a short young girl with tan skin and light green eyes. Her hair which has a spiky tuft on her forehead is long and brown and is kept in curly pigtails. Clothing-wise, Shauna wears a fashionable, feminine, and cute outfit that matches her personality. It consists of a dark pink T-shirt decorated with three black bows, very small blue denim shorts with black frills on the bottom, and dark pink ballet type shoes with short heels and matching ankle cuffs. For accessories, Shauna wears a dark pink wristband and a black frilly bobble on her right wrist. She also carries around a white and pink purse that matches her shirt, complete with a black bow.

"I don't know if anyone told you, apparently there was a rumor about a first male performer making a debut in this same showcase" Shauna tells Serena

Serena looks surprised "Really!?" she questions out of shock.

"And so, we say merci to Mademoiselle Aria and Braixen. Adieu and a bientot" Pierre said as the curtain falls down covering the space between Aria and the audience. 

Shoyo now getting ready since he's the first to performed he notices a small Pokémon peaking up looking at him. Shoyo then looks over and smile and waves at it.

"Where is it?  It got to be here somewhere" Shoyo looks around and waves the Pokémon to get closer to him. the Pokémon looks hesitant and then quickly runs towards the brunette boy and stands next to him.

"Hey holds still, okay?" Shoyo tells the Pokémon with a smile which the Pokémon nods and Shoyo takes the little hat off and puts it on the Pokémon, "alright, you're all set! Now I'm going to need to know your moves" he said as he pulls out his Pokédex.

"Pancham, the Playful Pokémon. Though it tries to look tough, Pancham has trouble being taken seriously by opponents."

"Okay, so your moves are Stone Edge, Dark Pulse, and Arm Thrust" Shoyo said while looking at his Pokédex and a light ball pop up above his head as a idea came to his mind "I got it!" he stated making Pancham look at Shoyo confusedly.

"Alors, now that everyone is all revved up and ready to go please welcome today's first performer, is Lagoon town's own and is here to pushing the boundaries and making history, for the first time ever a male competing in a Pokémon Showcase, please welcome Shoyo!" Pierre announces as the curtain risen and they see Shoyo standing looking at the ground with Pancham and a capsuled Pokéball in hand.

"Torchic Swing to Action!" Shoyo calls as the Pokéball pops up open and a fireball comes out and shiny Torchic appear doing somersaults and lands in front of Shoyo.

Serena looks at the Torchic with awe "What a cute Torchic!" she states while pulling out her Pokédex.

"Torchic, The Chick Pokémon. It has a flame sac inside its belly that perpetually burns. It feels warm if it is hugged."

"That's strange this Torchic seems different than the one in the Pokédex" Serena states looking confused.

"That's a Shiny Torchic" Shauna explains.

"How cool is that!" The Ravenette boy comment.

"Pikachu!" his Pikachu agrees.

"Torchic, use Flame Charge!" Shoyo commands.

Torchic's body gest covered in flames and begins to run off

"Now Pancham, Stone Edge!" he adds

Pancham slams its hand on the ground, causing glowing light blue pillars of rock to appear and surrounds themselves with the Stone Edge.

"Now Torchic, Jump!"

"Torchic!" Torchic jumps and lands on one Stone Edge after the other as each Stone Edge then turns into bite of blue glitter and Torchic jumps high up in the air as Pancham was breakdancing.

Shoyo smiles 'Here goes nothing!' he thought "Now, it's time to the final number, Torchic Ember and Pancham Dark Pulse!" Shoyo calls.

Pancham creates a ball of black and purple rings of energy in each hand. It then combines them and fires the rings as a beam of energy rings upwards as Torchic fires a blanket of small orange sparks from its beak at the Dark Pulse causing both move to collide and cause a glittery orange and purple explosion.

Torchic then lands on Shoyo's head while Pancham does a breakdance pose and Shoyo poses along "It's curtain down!" he announces.

"Pancham!/Torchic!" the two Pokémon cried.

There was a dead silence much to Shoyo's nervousness before he received a eruption of applause and cheer, now much to his shock. Shoyo smile and picks Torchic up and then notices that Pancham was no longer in sight but smiles and waves before leaving the stage still holding Torchic in hands.

-time skip-

"Now time to announce the winner of the Lagoon Town Pokémon Showcase!" Pierre announces as Shoyo closes his eyes since he's too nervous to see the results.

"And here they are, the winner of the Lagoon Town Showcase is... Performer Shoyo!" Shoyo open his eyes and looks back and sees that Shoyo has a lot more votes than the rest of the performer which the performers who were also on the stage applaud and congratulate the only boy on stage.

Shoyo walks up the stage and walks up to the stage and the crowd give him a standing ovation which Shoyo and Torchic bow before noticing Aria walking up to him with Braixen following behind much to Shoyo's shock.

Aria smiles at him "Congratulation, Shoyo! I like to present you the Lagoon town Princess Key or in this case Prince key." Aria says as she and Braixen hands Shoyo a key to him.

"It's yours now, congratulations" Aria then congratulates Shoyo.

Shoyo smiles "It means a lot, coming from you, thank you Aria" he said while taking the Key "that's one down two to go! Because I just have the Lagoon Key!" he poses with the Key

"Torchic Tor!" Torchic cried cheerily.

"That's it for today's Pokémon Showcase and we'll see you in the next one!" Pierre announces as he waves with Aria and Shoyo also waving at the audience.

-time skip-

Shoyo's having a picnic with Torchic in the middle of route 12.

"Wow Performing in front of the crowd in front of a lot of people is really amazing" Shoyo speaks to himself before looking at the Key he won from the Showcase "I just hope for more Showcases like this one" he then looks up "I hope you're proud of me, Mom...Dad..." he said while looking down at Torchic "I just hope that Pancham's doing okay" he wonders before decided and stands up "Alright, I've decided!" he states making Torchic looks at the brunette boy confused "I'm going to catch a new Pokémon and add them to our team" he claims unaware that a certain honey blonde was around the area and hear his claim.

Serena looks around looking for a certain Pokémon before hearing a ruffling sound coming from a near bush "Chespin is that you?" She asks she then sees a smaller version of Braixen named Fennekin coming out of it "Did you find it, Fennekin?" she asks.

"Fenne" Fennekin points at a direction with its head before running off. Serena understood and began to follow Fennekin.

That until Serena finds Pancham wearing a familiar hat and familiar glasses which made Serena gasp. "That hat! those glasses" 

Pancham looks at its reflection before the hat nearly falls off its head only for Pancham to do some handstands backflips making the hat and glasses fall off the Playful Pokémon which Pancham catches them, and cries happily. 

"What's Pancham up to?" she questions as it begins to dance with the hat and glasses like they're props and then remembers that is the same Pancham that performed with Shoyo "I remember this is the same Pancham who performed with that Shoyo, guy, but why is it doing here?" she questions.

"That's because Pancham lives there" a voice startles the female, and she sees Shoyo with shock "Pancham really like to perform" 

"Of course, that explains it!" Serena then realizes.

"Well, you see, Pancham was never my Pokémon to begin with" this newfound information catches Serena by surprised "it only agreed to perform with me at the last minute, because it was attempting to crash the showcase" Shoyo explains. 

"I see..." Serena understood before smiling and runs out of hiding with Fennekin following behind her "hey Pancham!" Serena calls Pancham startles and flips backwards towards a nearby cave "Wait! I just wanna have a talk with you!" She tells Pancham who then sees Pancham leaning back like he didn't commit a crime.

Serena then sees a bunch on objects "Hey, look at that!" she picks up her friends' hat and glasses "Pancham, have you been gathering all of these things for your performances?" Serena then asks before walking up to the Playful Pokémon who's looking away in denial with its arms crossed its chest "You shouldn't steal other people's things." she then put the hat and glasses in her bag and pulls out a pair of sunglasses "But if you promise me you'll stop stealing, I'll give you these" she offers.

Pancham looks hesitant at the sunglasses before taking them trying them on.

"A perfect fit. They look great!" She said.

Serena tried to reach for Pancham's head to pet it only for the Playful Pokémon to startled and runs off.

"Pancham, come back!" Serena then picks up the sunglasses "I'm not done talking to you!" she said before running after Pancham as Fennekin follows behind her

Shoyo watches this interaction and smiles "She's perfect!" he said as Torchic runs up to its trainer looking confused. Shoyo then looks at Torchic with a smile "It's okay, Torchic; they're plenty of more Pokémon in the wild for us to catch" he assures.

"Torchic?" The Chick Pokémon tilts its head before Shoyo pick it up and looks at it with a smile.

"Don't worry, no matter how many Pokémon we get you're still going to be my number one partner, don't forget that" Shoyo reminds Torchic who cried happily as they continue on their way to where the wind guides them "You know, I have a feeling that it won't be the last time we'll see them" he said referring to Serena and Fennekin.

"Torchic tor!" Torchic cried happily.

And so, after obtaining his first Prince Key the adventure of Shoyo and Torchic is just getting started. After walking around the forest, he came across with a Pokémon doing some cute pirouettes which caught Shoyo's attention

The Pokémon is a small, bipedal, rabbit-like Pokémon with brown ears that can curl up. It has two types of fur covering its body: a light tan fleece that covers much of its lower body, feet, and the tips of its ears, and a smooth, chocolate-colored pelt on the upper half of its body. It has a small, triangular pink nose, pink paw pads on the undersides of its feet, and small tan spots above its eyes. It has a small brown puff of a tail.

Shoyo looks curious before pulling out his Pokédex "I wonder what Pokémon are you?" He wonders.

"Torchic!" Torchic also looks with wonder.

"Buneary, the Rabbit Pokémon. When sensing danger, it extends both ears as an alert, and when cold, it curls up and goes to sleep."

Shoyo smile "Wow so that's a Buneary" he puts his Pokédex away before looking down at his partner "let's go, Torchic!"

Torchic nods "Torchic!" Torchic and Shoyo runs out of hiding.

Buneary stops spinning and looks at Shoyo confusedly "Hey Buneary, I hope you don't mind, but we like to battle you" he tells the Rabbit Pokémon.

Buneary jumps away and creates distance from itself and Torchic while readying.

Shoyo smiles "I'm taking that a yes, thanks Buneary, Ready Torchic?" He asks the chick Pokémon.

"Tor!" Torchic cried affirmatively.

"Use Scratch!" Shoyo calls as Torchic runs towards the Rabbit Pokémon and attempts to hit with Scratch which it dodges by jumping high up in the air. Shoyo gasps recognizing that move "That's Bounce! Head's up Torchic!" He warns as he then sees Buneary's falling down with a kick "Quick, Torchic! Use Flame Charge to dodge!"

Torchic's body get covered in flames and runs off as Buneary lands and tries to follow the Chick Pokémon.

"Now, Torchic! Use Ember!" Torchic does a backflip somersault before hitting Buneary's back with Ember.

"Bun!" Buneary falls forward.

"Use scratch!" Torchic charges and hits Buneary with Scratch.

Buneary gets knocked down but quickly does a kick-up getting back on its feet before a light blue ball of energy forms in front of Buneary's mouth. Light blue beams of energy are released out of its mouth at the opponent.

"Dodge it!" Torchic dodges Buneary's attack on time due to the side effect of Flame Charge "so it can use Ice Beam, too" Shoyo states as he sees Buneary trying to use Ice Beam again "Torchic, Ember then Flame Charge!" Shoyo calls.

Torchic breaths out a Ember as it collides with Ice Beam creating a steam blinding the Rabbit Pokémon's view unaware that Torchic runs at it with Flame Charge.

Buneary then falls on its back Shoyo smiles "All right, this is it! Go Pokéball!" Shoyo throws the Pokéball to Buneary which it hit and Buneary gets sucked into the Pokéball by a red light the Pokéball falls to the ground and begins to wiggle making Shoyo and Torchic looks at the ball intensively before it made a ding sound much to Shoyo's joy before picking up his first catch "yes I just have my first catch, and it's Buneary!" He states out of joy while posing with the Pokéball in hand.

"Torchic Tor!" Torchic joins the cheering.

"Come on out Buneary!" Shoyo then calls as Buneary appears looking up at its now trainer.

"Buneary?" Buneary looks curious.

Shoyo crouches down to the Rabbit Pokémon's level "Buneary we're going to be one heck of a team, we'll work hard and become the best versions of ourselves" he tells the Pokémon before looking at the Fire Type "right Torchic?" He asks his partner.

"Torchic!" Torchic cries happily.

"Buneary!" Buneary cries back in the same tone.

Shoyo then pick both of them up "glad to have you on board, Buneary!" He said

"Chic!" The Chick Pokémon agrees.

"Fennekin!" A screaming voice of distressed alerted the three of them.

"What was that?" He questions before running off after the direction of the scream with Torchic and Buneary in his arms.

As he runs, he could hear people talking.

"Prepare for trouble, you knew Fennekin's name"

"So now it's time to play out little game"

"To protect the world from devastation"

"To unite all people within our nation."

"To denounce the evils of truth and love"

"To extend our reach to the stars above"

"Jessie"

"And James"

"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light"

"Surrender now or prepare for a well-performed fight!"

"Meowth that's right!"

"Team Rocket! Give Fennekin back!" the ravenette boy demands.

Shoyo hears the commotion before him "Team Rocket? Where did I hear that name before?" He questions.

"So you want to be a Pokémon performer like Aria and Shoyo?" the woman in the hot air balloon named Jessie questioned Serena.

"You've got a problem with that?" Serena questions back sounding annoyed.

Shoyo looks at the group's pissed off expression "I can tell this is not the first time they encounter" he mutters only for Torchic and Buneary to be the only ones who heard him.

"Well, Jessie has a big problem. I don't care" the slight older young man named James responds.

"Yeah. Beware" a Meowth spoke in human language much to Shoyo's shock.

"In order to be a successful Pokémon Performer, one needs to be beautiful. Dressed in a beautiful gown, my beautiful self will bask in the spotlight with beautiful Braixen" Jessie said as she daydreams of herself in a big purple dress along with a Braixen twirling its flaming wand while she laughs "It's beauty times three. Crowds will love what they see" she then said laughing to herself "Aria and Shoyo doesn't hold a candle to magnificent me" she then said.

Shoyo frowns a bit and decides to walk out of hiding "You know you're half right about that" everyone's eyes were now on Shoyo.

"Wait isn't that-" the ravenette boy tried

The blonde boy pushes up his glasses "It's that performer who won the Lagoon Showcase" he states.

"Is Shoyo!" Serena states.

Shoyo walks past the group eyeing on Fennekin in the glass cage and The trio in their hot air balloon.

"Like I said, you're half right...Jessie, was it?" he questions which the female nod "the reason that I said that you're half right, because you're right about the beauty part, both performer and Pokémon had to look/dress apart the occasion, but the real question is, is a Pokémon Performer only about looks?" Shoyo said catching both Serena and Jessie off guard "A successful Performer, is not just about beauty, is also about heart, brains, and talent, and show that they're enjoying themselves with their Pokémon by their side, and that my friend is what a true Performer is all about" he said as Torchic and Buneary join their trainer.

"Buneary!/Torchic!" The two Pokémon agree with their trainer.

"So if you think that stealing Pokémon that doesn't belong to you is what's giving a human being a bad name" he said before pointing forward "Buneary, Give Torchic a boost!" He tells which Buneary and Torchic's feet touch and Buneary uses Bounce to boost Torchic to the balloon "Torchic use scratch!" Shoyo calla but instead of using Scratch Torchic's beak glows white and slices the balloon with the newly learned move Peck, as Team Rocket crashes to the ground "Awesome, Torchic! You learned Peck!" he states while before catching Torchic and looks down at Buneary "Great thinking of using Bounce Buneary" he praises the Rabbit Pokémon.

"Buneary!" Buneary smile happily.

"How dare you!" Jessie yells angrily at Shoyo.

"You should've mind your own business" Meowth stated, big mistake of words.

Jessie and James call out their Pokémon a Inkay and a Pumpkaboo

"Oh, it's my business since my name was mentioned" Shoyo responds.

"Let's see about that! Psybeam, go!" James calls.

Inkay flips upside down and fires a streaky blue beam with pink circles inside it from its mouth at the group. 

"Dodge it!" Shoyo calls as his Pokémon dodges in time.

"Pumpkaboo, Shadow Ball" Jessie calls.

Pumpkaboo forms a ball of black and purple energy with black static around it. It then fires the ball at the opponent.

Pancham then gets in front of Torchic and Buneary and uses Dark Pulse to counter the Shadow Ball.

"Hey!" Shoyo calls Serena "Go get Fennekin while they're distracted, leave these guys to me"

Serena looks hesitant "you sure?" she questions.

"Just because I'm a performer doesn't mean I'm not a battler; how do you think I caught Buneary?"

Serena the nods "alright, I'll move out of your way" she said before running off

"Pancham, help us out! Use Dark Pulse on Inkay!" Shoyo yells as Pancham uses Dark Pulse hitting Inkay. "Buneary back Pancham up use Ice Beam on Pumpkaboo!" Buneary uses Ice Beam hitting the Grass and Ghost type Pokémon which Pumkaboo freezes along with the rest of Team Rocket.

"It's curtains down for you, three! Torchic, use Ember!" Shoyo calls.

"Pikachu back him up with Thunderbolt!" the ravenette boy yells.

Both Pikachu and Torchic use their respective moves hitting the frozen Team Rocket who then fly off.

"Oh well. I know I can win without Braixen, don't you?" Jessie questions

"Whatever. You think you're an actress" James responds.

"Just fool them" Meowth adds gloomily.

"We're blasting off again!" they yelled as they disappear in a flash.

The group gathers while Shoyo watches them in a distance and smiles to himself "Let's go you two" he said returning both Torchic and Buneary to their Pokéballs and he looks at Pancham and Serena "Take care of yourselves" he said before walking away without no one else noticing the brunette leaving.

Serena looks down at Fennekin "Fennekin" she calls making the Fox Pokémon look up at its trainer "Thank goodness you're alright!" she said with relief before looking at Pancham who looks back "Thanks, Pancham. You really helped Fennekin a lot" she thanked the Playful Pokémon. "So now, what do you say we get back to having our battle?" Serena offers.

Pancham looks at Fennekin ready "Cham, Cham!" it cries determinedly before looking around and then notices that Shoyo's nowhere to be seen.

the blonde seems to finally notice "Hey, didn't Shoyo was standing here, just a second ago?" he questions.

Now everyone else looks around and notices the Shoyo was gone. but that didn't make Serena look sad instead it made her more determined.
