"What are you doing here?" She asked looking at Michael as he moved closer to her, giving her one of those cautious looks.

Was this some kind of joke?

Was he really here after what happened the last time?

"I want to talk to you." He said.

And because she was a naturally curious person, she couldn't possibly not let him go without knowing what brought him here.

She nodded turning her back to him. "Sure. Follow me."

She walked toward her office not really looking back to see if he was following. She opened the door and left it open for him.

She walked further into the room and placed her purse on her desk before turning to face him.

He shoved his hands in his pockets looking at her with tensed shoulders. That caused her to raised questioning eyebrows at him.

"So?" she questioned when he stayed silent.

He lightly cleared his throat. "I wanted to apologize."

She tilted her head to the side.

"For what? Running away?" She shrugged and continued. "Being scared has never been a crime."

He quickly shook his head at her words, really disliking the fact that she was making it sound like he was a coward.

"I'm sorry but your father has issues."

She narrowed her eyes at him. "Don't talk about my father like that."

"Okay. I'm sorry." He said putting his hands in front of him in defense. "But you have to understand. Your father had a gun at the table."

"If you were so afraid of guns, you should have stayed away from me and my family. I told that before the dinner." She said rolling her eyes at him.

She was curious and now she's regretting it. He's out here talking about that night and she didn't really see the point of having this conversation.

"Well it's one thing to imagine it, and it's another to actually experience it." He said feeling agitated by her lack of interest.

She huffed. "What I understood from that night is that you wouldn't last a day with my family."

"Elena-" She cut him off.

"There's a lot of talking about that night and I still don't know why you're here." She said keeping her eyes on his face, actually noticing how agitated he was.

"I really like you, I still do."

She lightly chuckled lowering her head.

"I'm serious." He snapped, not knowing what was so funny about what he had said.

She nodded looking at him through her lashes. "I know you are. And that's why it's so funny."

He gave her a confused look. "What?"

"Even if I did consider this for one second. Do you really think I will take you to my parents' house again?" she asked crossing her arms over chest.

"Elena, I haven't stopped thinking about it since it happened." He paused as she uncrossed her arms. "I haven't stopped thinking about you."

"Should I be touched?" She asked placing a hand on her chest.

He gave her another look in disbelief not really understanding her.
She was so nice to him before, but now she was looking at him as if he was something irrelevant.

"Why are you so cold?" He asked in disbelief.

She looked as if he was asking some stupid question. "Because I don't like you anymore. It's very simple."

"What?"

"You've lost my respect. And I don't reopen doors that I've already closed."

He took a step closer. "Elena."

She looked at him holding his gaze with her steady one. "Yes, Micky?"

"You're angry, I get that. But I really want you to understand."

She scoffed at his words. "If I was angry, I wouldn't say a word to you. I would just throw you out."

He huffed slightly clenching his fists.

"Your father had a gun. He threatened me."

She nodded as if she understood perfectly where he was coming from but just didn't care.

"I get that. I do. And not everyone can handle it, and someone who can't handle that kind of pressure from my family can't be with me. it's crazy but it's true." She said with a shrug. "So again, I still don't get why you're here."

"Elena-"

"No." she said in a final tone.

He let out a long sigh giving her a tired look. "You're not even thinking about it."

"No."

"Why the hell not!?" He yelled.

She took a step closer to him. "Raise your voice at me one more time."

Her cold tone caused him to take a step back and that action didn't go unnoticed. She shook her head at him.

"The answer is no." She said once more looking directly into his eyes. "So, you can go." Took a step from him.

"Why are you doing this?"

"For God's sake." She mumbled lowering her head. "Leave before I make you." She said moving to her des.

"What?"

"Leave before I make you." She repeated.

He stared in her big azur eyes noticing the seriousness in them.

What happened to the Elena that would always smile and gave him encouraging words before the dinner with her family.

"Okay. I'm gonna leave, but I'll show you that I'm serious about this." He said and she dismissively waved her hand at him.

"Again, I know you are, but that doesn't mean I want you."

He stood in place looking at her for a few more seconds before he turned around and left.

Once he left, she looked down at the phone in her hands again. All she wanted to do was call Victoria. But she also really didn't want to disturb their honeymoon. So, she would really have to wait until they come back.

"Hi Carlos." Elena smiled at the man who was holding the car door open for her.

"Hello, boss lady." He smiled back and she quickly got in the backseat.

He closed the door and walked around the car to get in the driver's seat. He got in and fixed the rearview to look at her as she smiled big toward him.

Carlos chuckled when she let out a small giggle. "You look happy."

"I had lunch with Marco." She grinned.

He laughed again starting the car.

"That explains the sparkling eyes." He said with a nod. "Alone?"

She nodded. "Yes."

"You didn't faint or anything, did you?" He asked teasing and she narrowed her eyes at him.

"No, I didn't." She huffed. "Have some faith, will you?"

"You're never yourself around him." He stated matter of factly.

"Because he's too wonderful." She groaned leaning her head back with a smile.

"Is he now?" He teased noticing the serious tone she used while saying that.

She ignored his teasing tone and continued. "Yes! And he's a gentleman. He actually says please and thank you."

"I know." He nodded making a turn. "Growing up, he's always been very polite compared to your brother."

She snorted . "He was, wasn't he?."

"He wasn't the nicest kid but he was always there to break your brother's fights." He said and she chuckled.

That was true. Marco was usually the one breaking Jason's fights and getting him out of trouble.

"Yeah. Mom said that he was more like Jason's babysitter than his friend." She said and her proud tone make him laugh again. "He's always been so responsible."

"Marco is so great. Marco is so cute. Marco is so amazing." He mocked taking a feminine voice.

She giggled leaning her head back.

"Stop it." She said burying her face in her hands with a light blush on her cheeks. "And Jason wasn't a nice kid either."

"They're both good and bad in their own ways."

"He really cares for Jason, though. Marco said that he's another brother to him."

He teasingly looked at her through the rearview. "Brother-in-law?"

She gasped and heat quickly travelled up her face.

"W-Why would you ruin it?"

He chuckled glancing at her again before moving his eyes back to the road. "I am not. I am just saying. If you survived an entire meal with just him. That means you can be cured."

"Cured?"

He nodded. "Yes. Your behavior around him is a disease. A few months in Italy could fix it."

She bit on her lower lip looking at him hopefully. "You think so?"

"I know so." He said before continuing. "You've always liked the guy. Yet I've never seen you do anything to get him."

"That's because he doesn't see me that way. I am not getting a heartbreak."

"Yet you've been breaking hearts for years." He said stoping at a red light.

She gasped at his accusation with a shake of her head. "I've never done that."

He scoffed. "In high school and in college? I've seen you reject brave young men."

"That's not my fault. I'm beautiful, but I've never given them any reason to confess anything."

"Modesty, please?" He chuckled with a shake of his head.

"No. I don't like false modesty." She shrugged as he started the car once more.

He threw his head back in silent laughter mumbling something about "Knights' kids" before speaking again.

"Anyways. like you said. He really cares about your brother and their friendship. He would never jeopardize that. I've known him since kindergarten." He said and she lightly frowned at his words.

"Well not returning someone's feelings isn't a crime." She shrugged not really wanting to let her brain wander there.

If she ever opened that door and allowed her mind to wander on that, there would be no way back. She would get her hopes really high and the fall would be all the more painful. So, she should just continue dreaming about it until she was sure that her heart wouldn't suffer if she did go for it.

"And who said he wasn't?" Carlos' voice snapped her out of her thoughts

"I just know."

"Like I said, I was there watching him and Jason grow up. Until now. I've heard them talk. And let me tell you, you don't know."

She furrowed her eyebrows at him as he slowed the car in front of the house.

"You're home." He said parking the car.

"Thank you, Carlos." She smiled opening the car door.

"No problem. I'll see you tomorrow." He smiled looking back at her. "Enjoy dinner." He added and she paused looking at him. "He's coming tonight, isn't he?"
