Day 1

[ KOEN POV/3RD PERSON VIEW THROUGHOUT ENTIRE CHAPTER.]

The formidable hunting goddess Koen had never felt so helpless in her whole life. It was shameful to be taken down by the simple hands of lesser gods! Nearly every deity of the divine paradise of Aepevion had been transported to the little human settlements encircling the domain beneath the Aepevion mountain.

Her disgusting feelings further intensified when she found herself stranded in a human community that honored Dola, one of Kitorial's many goddesses. Koen would have appreciated and liked these people a long time ago. However, it is no longer the case. Now that Dola had an iron grip on power in Kitorial, she was a sworn enemy. In addition, people were repulsive. They demolished thousands of wildlife's homes and left a trail of destruction over the forests and waterways. Most importantly, they hunted and killed just to use the fur for clothing. That was inconsiderate.

Who would murder a creature merely to use its fur? Koen felt that you ought to respect the offering that animal made. All the body components ought to be put to some purpose. Don't throw away the animal—use it for food, a ritual, anything at all. And my goodness, the things that human hunters do to their hunting dogs when they make a mistake are abhorrent! Dogs are devoted and affectionate animals, thanks to Koen. Not animals to be killed after a single mishap...

Koen shouldn't even begin to discuss the snares that people have created for foxes. It's terrifying! Every day, thousands of foxes would go to her temple with a metal coil firmly wound around their necks, severing their blood supply and murdering the wretched animals. And after that, just stacking them? It was terrible! The farther Koen thought about how truly horrible humanity were, the more her stomach churned.

Everything was gloomy, almost completely black except for the soft light of the moon. That indicated that the majority of people were sleeping because they were afraid that monsters and demons would awaken in the middle of the night and attack them if they weren't. Koen was able to transform into a more human-like form as a result. Green eyes, turquoise hair, and light brown skin. And, of course, what she had been wearing previously. a toga that resembled green, topped with a bear cape that concealed her scarred shoulder.

Aside from the way people utilized language, dressed, and lived, it seemed as though nothing about humans had changed even in the year 2024. Even now, they were repulsive animals that ought to be exterminated. However, Koen refused to touch people because she was a Goddess of Aepevion and worked for good. However, there was one aspect about people that had always captivated her. Their capacity for adaptation. They always managed to recover from whatever the Gods and Goddesses threw at them. Would she ever acknowledge that? No way, gods.

Koen started to move across the now-dark streets. This settlement was rather ancient. She was surprised that it hadn't advanced to the same level of modernity as the surrounding area. She didn't mind, though. It was nearly like being home. She surveyed every house until she saw one that caught her eye. It was towering, made entirely of wood, and seemed deserted. It was the ideal spot for her to stay until her vitality returned and she could return to the battle taking place in her own home.

The fact that the home door opened with just a light fingertip touch improved it. Almost as soon as she was inside the entire home, Koen came in and shut the door. She was not used to human feet, but they weren't quite as horrible as Kin had claimed. Compared to having to walk on paws all day, they felt more at ease. When Koen entered the bedroom, the tall Goddess nearly had a heart attack upon seeing an adult lady lying in the bed. She believed that the home had been empty.

A long, steady creak came from the wooden floor board as Koen tried to back away. The Goddess halted, observing the woman with the dark complexion yawn and sit up, emerging from her contented sleep. The human extended her arm to pick up her glasses from the desk and put them on. She turned to face the Goddess after taking a quick glance around. Naturally, the human shouted so loudly that she almost fell out of her bed, just as shocked as the Goddess.

"Who are you?! How come you're in my home?!" The woman screamed and reached for a weapon to defend herself. The Goddess raised her hands and observed the human extract a knife with a sharp edge. "I'm not trying to hurt you! All I'm searching for is a place to stay! It's too feeble for me to continue." Koen flinched as the person stood up and attempted to explain. It turns out that she was afraid because the person had been taller than her. She neglected to notice that she was shorter than other Goddesses in her human form. Having to gaze up at a human being was a little unsettling.

"Yeah, right, like I should believe anything that comes out of a robbers mouth!" With a strong reply, the woman shot back. Koen was infuriated by that. It was the first time someone had spoken to her in that manner, and she was not going to put up with a pitiful person yelling at her. Koen instantly reverted to her original, goddess-like appearance, but her injured and frail state caused her to collapse to the ground. "Human, never again will you talk to me like that. Otherwise, you'll won't end up a gutless mess on the floor." Koen growled feebly.

With a gasp, the lady let go of her blade and rushed towards the Goddess, saying, "Lady Koen! I apologize for acting rashly; I had no idea it was you. Allow me to assist you now." The lady extended her hands to assist the Goddess, but the Goddess smacked her hands back. Too weak to do more, Koen dragged herself back up by holding against the door frame and followed the human to the spare bedroom, where she laid down on the bed. "You just need to ask, my lady, if you need anything else. Quinn is my name." The human made her introduction and left the chamber, letting the Goddess slumber in peace in preparation for the new day. And a fresh day would bring fresh risks to the surface...
