I can't lie anymore

No, said Andy. I stopped and looked at him sharply. Sorry? I said. Whatever he just told you is probably true. Said Andy. I didn't know how to tell you this, but Gene told me to come with you no matter what. He looked down as if he was ashamed. I was even more confused at this point. I lied to you. He said. As he sat back down again. Jonathan had reached me and put his hand on my shoulder. I flicked his hand away and walked towards Andy. Does that mean Gene is trying to steal the reapers? I asked. Yes. Said Andy. Ever since his son passed away he's been obsessed with getting the reapers to be personal bodyguards for our kind. I sat down as well, trying to think about this. His son is still alive though. I said. This is just ridiculous. His first son died. Said Andy. The only child who had enhanced powers. He inherited his mother's power of invisibility. The government found out about the boy's advantage. They sent out a few agents to kidnap the boy, but something happened causing all involved agents and the boy to die. To this day the case is classified, and only Gene knows exactly what happened. I bet he killed the agents. Scoffed Greg. And then killed his own son by accident. Nobody cares what you think about the matter. Said Jonathan with an angry glare. No! Yelled Greg. You sure as hell never did! I stood up and walked to the door leading to the staircase. I could hear the two brothers yelling at each other. Andy ran after me and grabbed my arm. Stop grabbing me. I said annoyed. That hurts. Sorry. Said Andy. But we can't leave. I have to find whatever controls these reapers. Why? I asked. We can destroy them and be better off.

Andy was silent for a moment. I can't lie anymore. He said after a while. I have a girlfriend. If I don not find the way to control these things, Gene will kill her. He looked tired, as if it had taken everything from him to tell me this. I didn't know what to do anymore so I ran through the door and the passage way. I heard Andy yelling. Wait, please let me explain! But I kept running down the stairs and eventually past the castle walls. I stood still in the middle of a forest that surrounded the castle. I had no idea where I was supposed to go now. I just sat down behind a bush and cried. My head couldn't take this shit. I had been double-crossed by the people I thought I could trust. The one person who actually cared for me outside of my family already had a girlfriend. And the worst thing was that my family was nowhere near to comfort me. I was stuck in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of lying sociopaths. I heard footsteps a few yards behind me. It was probably Andy. I hid further behind the bush and grabbed a nearby piece of wood. As soon as the person walked around the bush I jumped up and hit him flat in the face. It wasn't Andy tho. I turned red and stammered an apology. It was Greg. I'm so sorry, I-i thought you were Andy. Just my luck, I thought to myself. Greg however just looked shocked, then he rolled his eyes, grabbed my hand and dragged me back to the castle. About halfway I pulled myself free and said. You know I can walk without you pulling me. I'm done with people taken me against my will. Fine. Snapped Greg. But you're gonna have to follow me anyway. You need to go home and you have no idea where the hell you are. And whose fault is that?! I replied. He was silent for a moment. Then he started laughing. Andy doesn't even deserve you. Come with me and I'll provide you with a baseball bat to hit him as many times as you like. Just not the face. He added. We should preserve the face.

Greg creeped me out, but at the same time he seemed to be the only honest person here. I decided to trust the sociopath until I had found my brother again. Which reminded me. He was still with Gene. What if Gene wanted leverage for his evil schemes? Let's go. I said. And we walked back to the castle.
