Your Moustache

Let's face it - every girl has one. And if you don't, I don't even know what to say to you. You're so lucky.

A kid pointed mine out to me many years ago. Kids are so honest that it sucks sometimes. I told him that if he ever wanted a girlfriend, he should keep his observations to himself. But ultimately, I'm really glad he said something.

Do you bleach it? I tried this and it burned a bit. It can also bleach your skin, which can look rather odd, to say the least. You really have to watch how long you leave that harmless-looking cream on your face. In addition to some unwanted side-effects, the hair will still be there. And while everyone may have some hair on their upper lip, it does look better if you remove it.

So, how should you remove it?

I have some friends who just shave it and they look fine to me. We are approaching the ripe old age of forty and they still look like beautiful women. Now, I will admit that I've never tried to kiss them or run my fingers over their upper lip, so I can't say if there is a prickly feel or not. Either way, I never had the guts to shave it.

Waxing it works, but you have to wait for it to be long enough before you can rip those suckers out. As you're getting ready for a hot date, staring those hairs in the face is not a thrilling prospect. This turned me off the whole waxing idea with respect to the lip. Legs? Great. Bikini? Okay. Lip? ...nah.

Some people use electolysis. Electrolysis can work, but it can leave blisters. It also uses needles, which always pose an element of risk. If you go this route, make sure you go to somebody reputable. Clean needles, you know...

And, of course, there is always the ever-wonderful laser hair removal. Again, though, this can be rather pricey. Not only that, but the laser works best on dark hair. So, you know, if you've got dark lip hair, this is actually a great option for you. It's also often permanent after a few sessions...and that is awesome.

I thread mine. I get a piece of thread about half an arms length. Tie it in a loop. Twist it about ten times and push the twist over my upper lip. The twists grip the hairs and pulls them out. I learned how to do it when I was in university. I had some roommates who were from Bahrain and they taught me this wonderful trick. I will always owe those girls for this gem of advice. I can even target a specific hair coming in that hasn't broken the surface yet. It's amazing.

My Advice: Thread those bad boys away.
