Dress Code
I remember the days of dress codes. But, as indicated in the first chapter, I wasn't so confident with my body as I wish now that I had been. I was quite happy to wear jeans and a baggy sweatshirt to cover myself up. A regular super model, but without the photoshoots and good looks.
BUT. There was a point when I really liked this guy and I wanted to impress him at a dance. I got dressed up to the nines. I looked great. Short skirt, cute top, hair and makeup done perfectly. I even had heels on (I never wear them anymore, 'cause I'm too old for that nonsense). I looked really good to go to a poorly lit room with smoke shooting into the crowd. Lots of effort for not much exposure.
I came out to show my parents how awesome I looked and my step dad said, "you look fantastic." I smiled. And then he gave me this advice, and I am going to pass it on to you...
When you get dressed, think about what YOU would think if a girl younger than you wore what you are wearing. If you would think less of her, then there's a good chance the older girls will think less of you, too.
Maybe you don't care about that stuff – and hats off to you. But, once I thought about it, I went and changed.
My advice: Of course, there's going to be times when you want to dress like a prostitute, and I did too! It's fun sometimes. There's nothing quite like being offered money for...stuff. Wear what you think is respectable MOST of the time. Time and place, right?
