I don't believe it's a bad thing unless those popular guys were asking it in an inappropriate way or in ways that make you uncomfortable. Like asking personal questions, or rude ones. If they are, then yes it's a bad thing and you should probably just ignore them or tell them to bugger off/knock it off.
