Chapter no.2
It was a cold night. The good fairy cooked us soup. Everyone was silent. I finished my meal and stepped outside for a walk. I sat down under a cherry tree and stared at the starry sky. The moon was shinning brightly. How can it shine like this? Fool you will get billed by energy corporation? Why you have to be so perfect? Do you have any worries? It disappears; may be it has some worries. Then I chuckled at my thoughts. Moon was my best friend; a silent best friend who never ignored me and listened to me calmly. I told it a lot of my worries which i never shared with Elsa. Cold air brushed through my face. The gentle aura of full moon was healing me. It wasn't a good idea to go down without a fight? What a 16 year old defense-less girl like me could possibly do to defeat that evil Witch and her army of monsters? Perhaps I should go to my uncle, get a big and well-equipped army from him and then attack on the Palace. Only then I will be able to save my parents and my people. Delightedly I got up and turned around. I collided with someone. It was that good fairy. She asked me:
"Tell me child.... if you are travelling along with your friend in a forest and a big deadly snake trespasses your way what will you do? Would you rather wait and tell your friend to launch a pet mongoose to kill it or would you rather lose your horses on it?"
I told her that I will use a mongoose to kill it rather than using our horses. Iron cuts iron. Then she told me that same was my case. No army in the world can defeat that evil witch and her monsters. Magic can only be countered with a magic. I asked impatiently:
"Guide me good fairy, what should I do?"
"Good fairy" the fairy chuckled at my remark and we sat down again under the tree. Then she told me that her name was Emily. She used to live on the Mount Koko but when her home got destroyed. On a stormy night, when my father King Hans got lost in the forest; she saved him. My grandfather King Lief gifted her this area in order to show his gratitude. Since then she had been here. After it I asked her about what she said previously talked about countering magic with magic. She seemed hesitant at first but on my emphasis she opened up. She told me that the name of that evil witch was Dixie. She told me that Dixie is the master of deceits and black magic. She likes to eat the souls of young and pious princess to retain her youthfulness and after it she enters inside their body and manipulates it until it is of no longer use. Emily advised me that I should never think of turning myself in to Dixie that she would not only kill me and after it she will use my body to rule the kingdom and ultimately it will lead to forever slavery of my people and my parents. Then I asked her how to defeat her. She told me that:
"Legend says that some-where in South, there lies a magical power buried under the ice "Wand of Hope" enough to destroy any type of evil if used for good but can only be used for once."
I jumped in excitement this was the only way but Emily was not quite hopeful about it because it might be a myth but I was determined. So Emily promised to help me. Elsa also begged me to accompany her, threatening me that if I could not approve of it, she will follow me. So I had to agree with her. The next morning she contacted Cloud Kingdom and two unicorns were sent by them for travelling. Emily gave us eatables, warm clothes, a ring and some other supplies. She told me to rub the ring when-ever in danger. Just after the rising of Sun we set on our journey.
We kept flying for several days. We crossed several plains, lakes, islands and a big ocean. Almost about a month we came to an icy area. There were mountains of ice so big that one can't measure them and the water there was freezing cold. Yet we were hungry so we decided to camp there. We took shelter in a cave. We ate the food that Emily gave us and went to sleep.
In the morning I woke up to a roaring sound. It was a family of white lions. They were three in number; a mama lion, daddy lion and baby lion. They were standing on the entrance of cave and were roaring on us. We got up very carefully and got on our unicorns. I was holding a bag of eatables and Elsa had the other bag of supplies. The plan was to throw them at the lions and then to run for our lives. The battle began. The lions attacked on us ruthlessly but fortunately we barely escaped with our lives from the cave.
As we were running for our lives, we came on a bank of river. The lions were still following us and the unicorns were too injured to fly as well. We helplessly looked towards the sky as death was devouring upon us. Luckily, a thought struck me, the ring; very swiftly I rubbed my both hands. In an instant, something came from behind and swallowed us.
It was very dark and suffocating everywhere. I called out aloud for Elsa but there was no answer. I was really scared. It felt like I was inside something. After sometime a huge wave of water came and carried me along with it. When I got up Elsa was sitting beside me. She told me that we were inside Water kingdom. The ring which Emily gave us served as an emergency call and on the command of her majesty Queen Angela we were rescued. I thanked Emily again in my heart and again went to sleep.
The next morning when I got up and a beautiful girl was sitting in front of me. She was half human and half fish. I remembered a fable my teacher once told me; she was a mermaid. With a wave of amazement I immediately got up and greeted her. She replied in a very sweet voice. Elsa told me that she was Princess Charlotte. In the mean while her majesty Queen Angela arrived. We had a heavy breakfast; fish soup, fish fingers, prawns, lobster, crabs and many more dishes were there on the table. After eating I asked Queen Angela about Wand of Hope and pleaded her to help us on which she readily agreed.
The next morning, the Queen sent us with Princess Charlotte to the oldest library of Water Kingdom. It was the oldest library said to been there for many centuries. Its curator was a big, old and wise octopus. The big blue fish dropped us at the library. It was an old building. Princess Charlotte went ahead of us and rang the door-bell. The door opened up with a huge sound and we stepped in. It was a wonderful world of its own kind. Thousands and thousands books were arranged neatly in glass-shelves. Different types of starfishes were lined beside each shelf and the curator Mr. Octopus was sitting on a table reading a book.
I tried to talk but Princess Charlotte directed me to be silent. We waited patiently for Mr. Octopus to finish his reading. When he had finished; Princess Charlotte gave him Queen's letter. He read it silently and handed it back to the Princess. After it he turned towards me and went like:
"Princess Savannah if you wish to get hold on the power of Wand of Hope; you must get through some trials to prove that you are worthy for it."
I agreed on it. Then he summoned a starfish and directed me to go to the garden of the library with it. He asked me to go and pick out the ugliest thing out there. The starfish escorted me towards the garden. When I reached there I saw bundles of herbs and shrubs, colonies of different types of mushrooms and a broken sculpture of a man. The man in the sculpture was sitting with his eyes closed with a grim look. He seemed like he was thinking how to get out from there. I stood there confused while staring at the scenery. Each and everything was so chaotic and miserable that it was non sense to call such a place a garden. Suddenly I remembered I was standing in Water Kingdom. Then I closed my eyes and started thinking about it. In a moment I got the answer.
I returned back to the main room of library where everyone was waiting for me. Princess Charlotte and Elsa were eyeing me up and down anxiously as I had returned empty handed. I immediately turned towards the wise Octopus. He asked me what I saw, on which I answered him as:
"I saw nature and man in perfect harmony. There was a sculpture of a sleeping man lying in a beautiful garden filled with plants and other things. Everything there was so perfect that I was unable to find anything ugly."
After answering the question I looked towards the Octopus he was smiling at me. I had cleared my first test. Then he gave me a box and asked me to deliver it the nearest library in east and return to library before setting Sun. He gave me a turtle to ride and a starfish for guidance. I set on the journey. After travelling for some-time I saw an injured dolphin. She was badly hurt. I had the ring that Emily gave me. I rushed to help her. I gently patted on her body to calm her down. I rubbed the ring and within an instant dolphin got well again. The dolphin licked my face merrily in order to thank me. I again started my journey again. I delivered the box and returned back to the library just after a while the Sun had set. Everyone at the library greeted me. The Octopus got up quickly and brought an envelope for me and said: "Be thy aware of greed as all that glitter is not gold." When I opened the envelope it was the map to the cave having Wand of Hope.
