Reset/Hibernation Sickness is a Bitch

Another two days had passed before Valorie woke up from the nothingness that was sleep. She stretched her arms and then looked around. She slowly climbed down from the tree, starting to walk back to the Inn. The bottom of her coat had definitely been ruined by plants and such snagging it, her pants also getting snagged some more. The only other thing that was different was the scabbed over wound on her cheek.

She walked into the Inn, standing and looking around before going back over to her dark, quiet corner of the bar. She sat down, pulling her coat off and hap-hazardly throwing it on the table where her bag was set, untouched. She laid down before trying to sleep again, able to after a while, but also starting to feel the effects of not eating for a few weeks.

Val was woken up by the sound of hiking boots hitting hardwood. She stirred slightly, her eyes barely opening as she made a soft trilling noise. The last thing she hears before getting up, note without her coat, is the jangle of keys and the opening and then closing. Valorie walks to the door, opening the door herself and following after the person she had identified as Jaye.

She stood outside the Inn confused, looking for the woman. "Jaye?" She didn't get a response as she walked around, looking for her friend. She decides to give up for now and walks back into the Inn, something feels...off though. As she walks, everything begins twisting and turning, her vision also blurring. She took a few more steps into the Inn and collapsed in the middle of the floor.

The bird girl woke up a while later, slowly getting up and using the wall and nearby tables as support just in case she stumbled. She walked over to her corner, picking up and folding her blankets, placing them carefully in her bag, as well as putting her coat on. She looks down at the table at this point, noticing a small tin and of what looked to be jerky, a key with the number six on it, and a small handwritten note. She read through it the best she could, her head pounding, before placing the tin and note in her bag with the blankets.

She threw her bag onto her shoulder, grabbing the key in the process, and walked over to the stairs. She walked up them, almost tripping over her own feet, but she continued. She walked down the hallway, looking for room six, but she ended up stumbling and walking into a door. " Ow... "

"Hey! Watch it!" A familiar voice came from the other side of the door the bird had fallen into.

Valorie shook her head, rubbing her nose and taking a step back from the door. "S-sorry!...wait...Jaye?"

The door opened, revealing the woman herself. "The fuck you want?"

Val looks down at the ground, everything beginning to twist and turn again. "N-Nothing...just...glad that...you seem to be...be alright...I'm...sorry for...for bothering you."

"Is...Is something wrong?"

"No...no, um...everything is fine...sorry...again." Valorie quickly turned away from the door, walking down the hallway until she got to the next door on the same side. She closed the door behind her, too tired and dizzy to lock it, so she just set her bag and key down on the bedside table before laying on the bed and going back to sleep.

Valorie woke up the next morning due to the sun shining into her window. She slowly sat up, blinking a few times and looking around the room before she remembered where she was. She stood up right after, regretting it after her head started spinning like the day before, but she continued to get ready for the day. She picked up her sword and placed it in its spot on her belt before taking her hair out of it's usual bun, quickly redoing it so it wasn't as messy.

She walked down the hallways and then down the stairs that lead to the tavern, grimacing at the bright light. Noticing someone standing there out of the corner of her eye, she greets the person. "Um...hello?"

"Hello" She had luckily not tripped or fallen this time, though she stopped at a table nearby to look at the person, or rather, the android who had greeted her. The android's face seemed passive, but when she spoke, Valorie heard a faint static noise. The android appeared to be an inch or two taller than Val and had had light blue hair which faded to white, her skin, or rather, her plating was mainly white with almost unnoticeable peach highlights. The android wore a black sleeveless turtleneck top with jean shorts, also appearing to be wearing grey, knee-high boots. The other major thing about this bot was that she wore a black visor which had red digital eyes that stared directly at Valorie.

"Who...are you?" Getting a better look at the bot, Valorie's wings floof up. Valorie didn't know what was wrong, but she didn't get a good feeling about this bot.

"Who I am isn't important, but you may call me Dottie."

Valorie nodded, doing her best to give a slight smile. "It's um...nice to meet you Dottie...I'm Valorie."

Dottie made a humming noise, her red eyes flickering off briefly. "I've never seen you before. Are you new?"

Valorie gives another nod, "I um...yeah...I guess so."

"Ah, makes sense. This place is always pulling in new people. I've yet to figure out how." Dottie twitched, looking away.

Valorie nervously laughed before looking down at the Everblade on her belt. "Do...people ever...leave or...die permanently here?"

Dottie gave her a questioning look before shrugging, saying something about needing to visit someone and left. Valorie stood there, confused, before looking around the Inn. She seemed to be the only one there right now, or at least that's what she thought. Valorie suddenly felt a slight draft in the air, freaking out quietly and scanning the room.

She suddenly felt a pat on the top of her head, so she swung around with her sword in hand, but didn't see anyone. "Who...Who's there?!" Valorie waits for a moment, watching the wall as one of the portraits tilt. Valorie slowly walked over, looking at the portrait and noticed a faint finger print on the glass over a woman who wore a green dress with brown hair, and a green bow in her hair that matched her dress. "A...a spirit...this is your family..."

Valorie feels another pat on her head, giving a sad smile in reply. "You...poor thing..." She watches as a very faint figure appears in front of her, which seems to hug her.

"Not...long"

Valorie freezes. "I can...what?" She seems confused, she knew she could see spirits and ghosts, but...she hadn't been able to hear them before. It was new, but Valorie didn't totally hate it. Valorie listened more as the spirit started humming a soft tune, smiling as she found it calming. "You...seem like a nice person."
