It's Funny how Quickly they get Taken

Valorie jolted awake suddenly, looking around at her surroundings. She was sitting in her small corner of the Inn, her coat and bag were on the table, and her boots were under it. She quickly put her boots on, her coat following soon after to cover up the scars.

After putting those two things on and grabbing her bag, Val ran out of the Inn and to the town square, freezing at what she saw. Jaye was nailed to the side of the clock tower, dead. She could faintly see a pair of glowing eyes, but they quickly faded.

Valorie's wing was fully healed at this point, the bandages disappearing after...whatever had just happened. She flew up to the top of the tower to investigate, as well as get her friend down to give her a proper burial, as she flew she noticed that 'Let the games begin' was carved into Jaye's body, but she just shook her head as she landed on a platform, looking around. "Who-...what was...that?"

The eyes were gone, as for Jaye, she was about 6 feet down from the platform Val stood on. She scanned the area again, still not seeing a figure or pair of eyes, and Jaye just continued to hang there, lifeless and dead.

Valorie inhaled sharply before flying and hovering in front of Jaye's body. "Let's...let's get you...down..." Valorie started to slowly unnail the body from the tower. She was surprised and froze as a yellowish-green oil started running down Jaye's face from her black, dead eyes. Her wounds didn't bleed as normal, but rather a mixture of blood and more of the yellowish-green oil. The wounds revealed that her skin was a mixture of a kind of steel alloy and flesh, and her skeleton was a fusion of bone and machine. Whatever Jaye was, she definitely wasn't fully human.

Valorie tried to wipe some of the oil off of Jaye's face, "...you did not deserve to suffer this way...friend." Valorie fully unnailed Jaye from the building, seeing a few parts crash to the ground before quickly moving the body to both of her arms. Of course, Valorie struggled to carry Jaye as she fell around 10 feet in the air. Jaye seemed to weigh at least twice as much as before, possibly even close to 500 pounds. "H-heavy...hate...this..."

Val descended to the ground as quick as possible, not wanting to injure herself. She landed on the ground in front of the tower and laid Jaye's body on the ground, the crowd from earlier seeming to have disappeared within the time Val retrieved the body. She looked over the parts that had fallen, seeing mostly servos and armor plating and a few other bits. Valorie picked up one of the smaller armor plates, putting it in her bag before she walked back over to Jaye's corpse and picked her up, walking to the forest.

Carrying Jaye, Valorie got to a place about a mile from Zack's camp. She carefully set the body on the ground against a tree as she began to collect some rocks and twigs from the surrounding area. After she found enough to satisfy herself, she started digging a rectangular hole in the ground, using her sword to clear anything that could possibly get in the way.

Around an hour later, Valorie had made a decent sized hole for Jaye. She walked over and knelt beside her friend's body, hugging her friend before picking her up. She walked back over to the hole, lowering her friend into the hole until she was laying flat. Then Valorie took her coat off, folding it and placing it on Jaye's chest.

Val would mutter something under her breath in another language before starting to cover the body. After completely covering Jaye, she started to grab the stones and twigs she had collected and started outlining the grave with them. She finished the border then carved 'Jaye' into the tree next to the grave before climbing up into the tree, sitting in one of the branches before promptly passing out.

A couple of days would pass before Val would wake up again, jolting as a loud noise was made. She grumbled tiredly before climbing down from the tree, slowly waking up. "Hello? Is anybody there?" As she stood on the ground, she saw a wisp of what seemed to be mist in front of her in the general shape of a person.

Valorie jumps a good foot into the air, landing on her feet but one of her wings did get knocked into a tree. "Who...who are...you?"

If the wisp of a person said anything, Valorie wasn't able to hear it clearly, the figure talked too quietly to be able to be understood.

"I...I'm sorry...but...I can't understand you." Valorie watched as the figure just floated there. Val tried to wave at it, but it didn't wave back, just noticing it didn't have any arms, Valorie sighs. "So...I can't exactly...understand you and you can't really...communicate with your hands or arms...so how am I going to understand you?" The figure continued to watch Valorie as she started pacing, muttering about it being stupid that she wasn't able to communicate effectively because of how young she was.

Valorie stopped pacing for a moment, chirping and stretching her wings and arms, her feathers floofing up a tiny bit. The figure just seemed to stare in confusion before floating over to where Jaye was buried. This got Valorie's attention as she stopped pacing and walked over beside the figure, tilting her head and looking up at the wisp as she spoke, "...Jaye?"

The figure turned to Valorie in acknowledgement. This got Val to smile a slight amount, "So...you're Jaye?" The figure nods its head.

"Interesting...so...is there anything you need or can do?" Valorie continued to communicate like this to the figure as night fell. Mid conversation, a wave of energy starts going across the town and quickly hits Valorie and Jaye's spirit. Everything once again fades to darkness, Valorie swears she can hear the screams of her mother before giving into the darkness.
