The Toddler Care Project Part 1

Author's Note: I know I have a mini story started already, but I was given a request by PurpleSkys2 who wanted me to do a story on Jay and Audrey doing a Home Ec baby project. Thanks for the request. This is going to be a mini story since I had too many ideas that wouldn't all fit in a one shot. Anyway I hope you enjoy this and please let me know what you all thought.

"Come on Evie, why not!" Jay asked his sister who just shook her head no again as she was refusing to give in. "Evie we need a baby for our project and the teacher said we could get extra credit if we used a real baby!" Audrey told her friend, also trying to get Evie to give in.

"Okay let's see. You want me to allow you to keep my child with you for a few days and have her pretend to be your child for a family project that you're doing in school?" Evie asked the young couple who nodded, making her laugh as she thought they were crazy for asking her something like that.

"Come on Evie please! We need this! I need this to pass and Audrey needs it to keep her perfect record of all A's for this school year," Jay told Evie, making her groan again as she hated when people would try to guilt trip her into doing things especially when it came to Mal.

Carlos had used the guilt trip of never getting to prove himself to get her to give in to letting him babysit and that ended up with her having to take Mal to the dentist after she knocked out a tooth when he was supposed to be watching her.

And another time Jay guilt tripped her into letting him babysit and she ended up getting out because he left the door open. Evie was sick of the guilt trips. "Oh come on princess, it's a few days and it could finally give you a chance to take a break for once. What harm could it possibly do," Uma told Evie, also trying to get Evie to give the young couple a chance.

Uma loves her little niece, but she could also use a break from the screaming and crying every once in a while. "Mommy wa go on," the small toddler asked Evie as she woke up from her nap making Evie sigh as she picked up Mal from her crib.

"Audrey and Jay want you to stay with them for a few days. What do you say Mal," Evie asked the toddler who just smiled as she squirmed to be put down and then ran over to Audrey and Jay as she hugged them.

"I would say that's a yes," Uma told Evie, making her groan again as she knew she wasn't going to win this battle. "Okay fine! But I swear you will answer my calls and texts! You will call me every hour! This is the list of everything she needs and what to do and not do with her. And I am serious you will follow everything on this list or I pull the plug on all of this and you fail! Do we have a deal," Evie told her two friends in stern voice as she was going to be trusting them with her child and she needed them to understand that she wasn't playing around.

Audrey and Jay both just nodded as they were too afraid to say anything else as they knew mother bear Evie was not someone you wanted to mess with.

"Okay good! This is the diaper bag with everything she needs and this is her epi pen. This is very important. She is deathly allergic to peanuts if she ever comes in contact with them you will use this. Okay I think that's everything. And I mean it you break any of these rules and I will make sure you fail your assignment. I don't care if we're friends, my baby and her safety comes first," Evie told the two as she continued to lecture them and make sure that they understood everything they would need to know.

"Okay Evie I think we understand. Can we go now," Jay asked Evie who just sighed as she hugged Mal close to her again. "Aw sweetie I love you so so so much and I'm gonna miss you so much," Evie told the toddler who just hugged onto her and started crying as Evie hesitantly handed Mal back to Jay and Audrey.

"Aww Mal it's okay. You're gonna have so much fun with us," Audrey told the toddler in her gentle voice as she picked her up and they left. "Okay so what should we do first now that we're "parents" for a few days," Jay asked Audrey once they got back to Audrey's dorm where they had agreed to stay during the project as Jane was staying in Carlos and Jay's dorm with Carlos because they were partners as well.

"Hmm I don't know. Evie is your sister what kinda stuff does she normally do," Audrey asked Jay who sighed as he didn't really know much about what Evie did because Evie preferred her one on one time with the toddler.

"I don't know. Evie is a very secretive person when it comes to Mal. Maybe we should ask her what she wants," Jay told Audrey who smiled as she nodded liking the idea. "Yeah let's ask Mal! Mal can you come here," Audrey called out to the toddler who was playing with her dragon in the corner, but came running over when she heard her name.

"Mal what do you want to do," Jay and Audrey both asked the small girl who giggled. "Pway!" Mal screamed out as she ran around the room with her dragon, but she quickly stopped when she saw the fireplace as she quickly made her way over to it curious about what it was.

"Okay this parenting thing is gonna be a piece of cake," Jay told Audrey who nodded before her eyes caught a glimpse of the small girl by the fireplace.

"Oh my gosh what is she doing! Mal! No, don't touch that!" Audrey quickly cried out as she ran over to where the toddler was, but the loud screaming startled the small girl making her fall backwards as she hit the hard floor.

As soon as Mal hit the floor she just stayed silent as she looked over at Audre and Jay as she tried to process what happened. "Oh my gosh Mal! Are you okay!" Audrey cried out as she couldn't help herself, causing the startled toddler to start wailing.

"Oh right I should have warned you. You're not supposed to freak out if they don't," Jay quickly told his girlfriend as he just remembered something he had seen Evie do.

He had at first thought she was being crazy, but was surprised that it had actually worked when Mal had fallen down back in Evie's dorm a few days ago and Evie just played it off by giving her a smile and playfully saying oopsie which made Mal giggle as she had gotten right back up without even crying.

Audrey just sighed as she bounced the toddler trying to calm her down. "A little warning beforehand would have been nice," Audrey told Jay who just gave her a small smile. "Sorry I forgot for a second," Jay playfully told Audrey who just sighed as she continued to just bounce the toddler who was starting to calm down.

"Okay so this room is clearly not safe right now," Audrey told Jay as she looked around her dorm and realized that most things would be dangerous right now with the toddler especially considering not only was Evie trusting them to take care of her baby, but they were supposed to be acting like real parents and having a baby in a not baby proofed room like this was probably not good parenting.

"Yeah I'm starting to see it too. I mean for me this is nothing, but Evie would definitely kill us if something happened plus I really can't afford to fail this assignment," Jay told Audrey who just nodded as she grabbed her purse and the diaper bag.

"Alright then let's go," Audrey told her boyfriend who just looked at her in confusion as he didn't understand what she was doing. "Um where are we going, just curious," Jay asked Audrey who just playfully rolled her eyes.

She loved her boyfriend, but he could be kinda slow sometimes which she also found adorable most of the time. "We're going to the store to get some stuff to baby proof this dorm. It was probably time I did this anyway. Especially since Evie comes over a lot with Mal and plus maybe it will help Evie let me babysit more, so I can get to know her more you know. I never really got to know her and I still feel bad about that," Audrey told Jay as she had treated him and his family horribly when they first came.

Audrey had been listening to her grandma who told her that the villain kids were evil and just like their parents, so that was her first impression of them all, but after coronation she had finally started to see them differently.

It had taken a little bit, but eventually they all got to be as close as they are now, but she still feels horrible for how she treated them. Jay just gave Audrey a small smile as he hugged her close knowing Audrey was feeling guilty again even though all 3 of them had told her it was okay and they forgave her.

"Audrey, it's fine, trust me. But you are probably right about the baby proofing especially since Mal is starting to really get into climbing," Jay told Audrey who was about to respond when they heard a loud crash as they quickly looked over to see the small toddler who was on the floor and just staring at them as it was obvious she had fallen down again.

"Aw sweetie did you get an owie," Audrey calmly asked the toddler hoping that this time she would be calm enough to not make the toddler start wailing like last time. Mal just nodded as she held up her arm.

"Owie," the small girl told Audrey who just gave the small girl a smile. "Aw I'm sorry princess," Audrey told the small girl in her gentle voice, making the toddler look at Audrey again as she held her arm up again.

"Auwy ca you ma id bewow pwease," the young girl asked Audrey with her adorable sad puppy dog eyes making Audrey not be able to resist as she looked at the adorable little girl.

"Aw of course cutie. Come here let's make your owie all better. Do you want me to kiss it better," Audrey told the toddler who nodded as she held her arm up to her. "Yes pwease," Mal told Audrey in her adorable squeaky voice, making her laugh as she gently picked up the toddler's tiny arm and kissed it where her small bruise was.

"Yay you ma id aw bewow dank you auwy! I wob you!" The small toddler told Audrey as she hugged her, making Audrey smile as she hugged back the small toddler enjoying her love and affection.

"Hey I want some love too! Don't forget about me," Jay playfully told the toddler and his girlfriend who both laughed. "Aww don't be jealous just because she likes me better than you. I'm sure she still loves you too. Right Mal," Audrey playfully told Jay as she continued to tickle the small two year old making her giggle.

"Haha and she doesn't like you better than me. Mal come here give me a hug," Jay told Audrey and the toddler making Mal shake her head no as she just clung tighter to Audrey making Jay frown a little in offense.

"Mal I thought you loved me," Jay told the toddler as he was feeling a little betrayed by the small girl who was clearly preferring Audrey over him when he was the one who has known her longer and spent more time with her.

"Aw told you! Now come on, let's go get some baby proofing materials before she hurts herself again," Audrey told Jay who just sighed as he got up and followed Audrey who was holding the toddler out the door and to the car.
