Something Is Wrong
*Ben's pov*
I stood up after falling onto some flowers. I turned around when I heard laughter, I smiled at everyone.
Bayard: "Ben."
McTwisp: "Oh, Ben."
He jumped down from his seat and hugged me.
McTwisp: "Thank goodness you're here."
March H: "It's that boy again."
I chuckled.
Tweedledum: "Ben. Your back."
The Bandersnatch roared at me in happiness.
Mally: "Don't be nice to him. He's late."
I looked at them in confusion.
Me: "Did I come at a bad time?"
Mirana: "On the contrary. We were afraid you weren't coming at all."
Me: "What's the matter?"
McTwisp: "Our two Hatters's are the matter."
Tweedledum: "Or the matter of the Hatter's."
Tweedledee: "The former."
Tweedledum: "No, the latter."
Mirana: "Hmm...Tweedles?"
She gives them a look then they look at me.
Both: "Their mad."
I laughed.
Me: "The Hatter and Maddy?"
They nod their heads yes.
Me: "Yes, I know. That's what makes them so...themselves."
Tweedledum: "But they've grown darker...less dafter."
Tweedledee: "Denies themselves laughter."
McTwisp: "And no scheme of ours can raise any sort of smile."
Cheshire: "We rather hoped you might help us save them."
Me: "Tell me what happened."
Bayard: "There was a great storm. We ventured out into the Tulgey Woods to investigate. Maddy was walking around picking flowers while waiting for us. She was perfectly hatterish that blue paper hat...she somehow figured it out that her father made it. She ran to his house without talking to us, and showed her father the hat. He started to remember how his family was perished. Slain by the Jabberwocky on Horunvendush Day...many years ago."
I started to get even more worried.
Mally: "They just aren't themselves anymore."
Mirana: "But, if anything could bring our Hatters back, it would be seeing you."
They all agreed.
Me: "We'll, where are they?"
They pointed in one direction and I saw a house shaped as a hat.
I walked up to the house and knocked.
Hatter: "Go away! You can't come in!"
Me: "Hatter, it's me. Ben."
He opened the door and I was surprised that he wasn't wearing anything wild. He gave me a small smile.
Hatter: "Ben. It's you and you're here."
He hugged me.
Hatter: "You are you, aren't you?"
I laughed when he started touching my face.
Me: "Yes, Hatter."
He turned me in a circle.
Hatter: "Good. You're the only one. Oh, you probably want to Mandy."
He pulled me inside, my eyes went wide when I saw Maddy in something not colorful. She didn't even have at hat on, but she still looked beautiful.
She gave me a small smile then walked over to me and her dad.
Maddy: "Daddy, he has always been Ben."
She looks at me.
Maddy: "And that's how I know you'll believe us."
Hatter: "It's our family, Ben."
They walked away.
Me: "Your family?"
Hatter: "Yes. Our family. Lost for many years. Or so we thought."
Maddy: "Look."
Maddy picked up a little blue hat and showed me.
Maddy: "I found this. The first hat my daddy ever made. He thought he tossed it away long, long ago."
Hatter: "It's impossible for it to be here, and yet...here it is. So if this hat survived...our family must have too."
Me: "But that's..."
Hatter: "I thought I wasn't worthy of the Hightopp name. Very serious man, my father. We had a terrible fight. I never said I was sorry when I had the chance. But this means...that I can make things right."
I didn't know what to believe.
Me: "Guy's...."
Maddy: "You...you do believe us, don't you, Ben?"
Me: "I want to, I..."
I saw them with heart broken faces but got more worried when Maddy's hair started turning white as snow then falls down into a chair.
Me: "Maddy! Your not well. What can I do?"
She didn't answer me but her dad did.
Hatter: "Of course, our Ben could bring our family back to us."
Me: "Hatter, the thing is....your family died. Long ago. You told me yourself. It's impossible to bring them back."
As soon as I said that Maddy quickly started dragging me to the front door. Her eyes were red in anger.
Maddy: "You are not you."
She opened the door.
Me: "Maddy, please."
Maddy: "Get out."
She pushed me outside and looked at me with a sad yet confused look.
Maddy: "I don't know who you are. You're not my Ben. My Ben would have believed us, believed me."
She shut the door. I knocked on the door when I heard her start coughing. I saw her hug her dad, she looked worse then her dad.
