We Were Teenage Abominations
"Well, kiddos, did you ever in your life think you'd see something as breathtaking as this?" Eda asked, showing us this creature covered in dirt. "Uh, this looks like something that came out of Stranger Things." I explained, extremely disgusted. "I don't like this." Luz replied. "Yes, it doesn't get much more inspiring than the trash slug, it makes a home, a life from what others have thrown by the wayside." Eda said. "Until blam! It gets blasted by a wave, one day and croaks from all the salt, and then, we get to sell the stuff it ate." Eda hands us each a pickaxe. "Please don't make me." We both begged. "Oh, come on, guys, it's not everyday you get to go to the dump and pick apart a garbage carcass." King said. "Eh, nuts to all three of you." Eda groaned, using her pickaxe on the slug. "So, Eda, what if we tried some new lessons for our apprenticeship?" I suggested. "Like, read ancient scrolls, or mix together potions or..." Eda threw some stuff towards us. "Ugh, that sounds like a bunch of magic school stuff." Eda complained. "Wait, is there a magic school here?" Luz asked. "Like, winding towers, cute uniforms, dark plots that threaten your life kind of magic school?""What's worse, they force you to learn magic the "proper" way." Eda nodded. "But, magic isn't proper, it's wild and unpredictable, and that's why it's so beautiful, I didn't finish school and look at me, who wouldn't envy where I am right now?" Luz frowned. "Hey, here's a lesson, a great witch is resourceful, like this." Eda explains, putting our hands in a mysterious liquid. "Oh, hey, greasy slime ball." I said, disgusted. "Use your slime ball wisely, young witches." Eda replied. "Back at it, we'll hit the stink nodes first." "Actually, if it's okay, I think I'll head home and look at pictures of animals that are still alive." Luz explains as she heads back to the house. "I'll go check on her." I said, following Luz. "More for me then!" Eda shouted.
I finally caught up to Luz in the forest. "Hey, Luz, you alright?" I asked, catching my breath. "Ugh, if magic's all about digging for slime balls, maybe I don't have the stomach for it." Luz replied. "You can do it! You can!" A female voice said in the distance. "Mysterious voice of encouragement?" Luz asked. "I heard it too, I think it's coming from over there." I replied, walking over to some bushes to see a young witch girl practicing a spell. My jaw just dropped at the sight of her. "No! Little witch girl!" Luz gasped. "Beautiful witch girl!" I added. "You can do it. Even if you get a bad grade, it's not a reflection of you as a witch, and my parents are right, there are better opportunities in this track, now get to school." She said to herself, accidentally stepping on a flower. "Oh no! Oh, little friend, I'm sorry." She used a spell to bring the flower back to life as two identical twin girls are riding on a cart, one of them was wearing a badge. "Willow!" The twin with the badge greeted. "Whoa, you're so unnoticeable, we almost rolled into you." "Hi, Amity, Alexa." The girl, who was named Willow, grumbled. "Shouldn't you get to class early to prep your..." The other twin started as Willow's project tipped over. "You don't have anything to show, do you?" The first twin teased. "This is why people call you "Half-a-witch Willow."" "Amity, stop teasing her." Her sister begged as their container with their project began shaking. "Oh, looks like someone wants to say something to you." Amity said. "Abomination, rise." A purple slime monster came out of the container and put a spot on Willow's forehead in the shape of a star. "Aw, it's like mine, but much smaller and meaningless." Amity teased. "As top student, it's my duty to tell you to keep at it, even you can get a passing grade someday, abomination, cower. See you in class, superstar." The abomination went back into the container as Amity began heading to school. Alexa walked over to Willow. "Good luck on your project, Willow." Alexa said. "Let me know if you ever want any help." As Alexa follows her sister, Willow began talking to herself. "See you in class, superstar." Willow intimidates Amity. "I hate when she does that, I hate making abominations, I hate getting bad grades, I can't stand this anymore!" All of a sudden, Willow rapidly grows vines from the ground as those vines grab us by the legs. After a few seconds, she was back to normal. "Oh, no, I'm so sorry!" Willow apologized as she reversed her spell. "It's okay, the thorns only went through a few layers of skin." Luz explains. "So, circly." Willow said, examining our ears. "You're humans, this is astounding, two humans on the Boiling Isles, how'd you get here? What are you doing here?" I began blushing as she got closer to me. Some bells began ringing in the distance. "I'm sorry, I can't stay, I have to go disappoint my teacher, it was nice to meet you, humans." "Wait, I'm Luz." Luz introduced. "Peter." I added. "You're Willow, right?" "What you did with that flower and those plants, it was... wow!" Luz exclaimed. "That's very impressive for a witch your age." I complimented. "Thanks, but, I'm not even supposed to be doing plant magic, my parents put me in the abomination track at school." Willow sighed. "Like, magic school?!" Luz exclaimed. Willow nodded. "That's so cool!" I exclaimed. "We're so jealous." "We have a teacher, but her lessons are a bit untraditional, I bet she wouldn't let either of us enroll." Luz explains. "I wish we could spend one day there." "Me too." I added. "I wish I could get a passing grade for once." Willow said. "Then people will stop calling me "Half-a-witch Willow"." "Wait, I know how we can all get what we want." I suggested, picking up some of her rotted project. "Make Luz and I your abominations. We'll get you a good grade, and you can get us into magic school." "It's fiendishly clever." Luz added. "What?!" Willow asked. "We saw those girls abomination, it's just chunks of stuff that talks weird." I explained. "We're chunks of stuff, and we both talk weird!" "That's true." Willow giggled. "Okay, it's a deal, Luz and Peter." "This is a great plan." Luz said as we both shook her hand.
"Welcome to Hexside School of Magic and Demonics." Willow said. "Remember to stay hidden, okay?" Luz and I got covered up in abomination goo and hid inside the container. Once we got inside, a young witch boy walked over to Willow, reading a magazine from the human realm. "Willow, you will not believe humans." He said. "Humans?" Willow scoffed. "I haven't seen any. What?" "Did you know that humans nail barbed wire to their kids' teeth? But why?" He asked. "Maybe to make them magnetic." "Actually, it's for storing treats." Luz corrected. "Luz!" I whispered. "Okay, Augustus, I'm gonna tell you something, but you have to be cool." Willow said. "I can be spool, I mean, cool." Her friend replied. "Okay, abominations, rise." Willow instructed as Luz and I came out from our hiding spot. "Ta-da! We're abominations." Luz exclaimed. "God, it was getting cramped in there." I added. "Luz, Peter, that's not how abominations act." Willow explains as her friend dropped his magazine. "No. No, it couldn't be!" He gasped. "He's the president of the Human Appreciation Society, most witches wouldn't be able to recognize a human right away, but Augustus is an expert." Willow explains. "Where are your gills?" Augustus asked. "Gills?" I questioned. "We knew an Augustus back in the human world. We called him Gus." Luz explains. "Gus? Nickname? Human nickname? Gus?!" He exclaimed. "Call me it. Wow. Gus. This is the best day of my life." The school bell rang as Gus left us for his class. "Alright, into the darkness you go." Willow said as me and Luz went back into the container.
Willow was finally about to prepare for her project. Willow sat next to her other friend, Alexa Blight, the complete opposite of her sister, Amity. "If the next abomination is a failure, everyone gets extra homework for a month." The teacher said. "And the next one to come up is..." "Excuse me, sir, but I am ready to present my abomination." Amity shouted. "Rise." Her abomination did as instructed and rose up. "There she goes stealing my project again." Alexa sighed so no one could hear her, not even her own sister. "I've always saved the best for last, Amity, you'll have to wait your turn." The teacher explains. Willow felt bad for Alexa. "I actually have two, we can team up if you like?" Willow asked with a whisper. "How about, Willow?" He asked. "Sir, if you don't mind, I actually partnered up with Willow at the last minute." Alexa lied. "As long as it rises, and as long as one of the Blight twins are involved, it's fine with me. Alexa helped Willow get the container to the front of the class. "Abomination, rise." Willow and Alexa said as Luz and I came back out. "Ta-da!" We both shouted as Willow's entire class gasped, including Amity. "Abomination, bow." Willow said as Luz took a bow." "Very impressive, but do they speak?" The teacher asked. "Abomination, speak." Alexa said. "Hello, class." I greeted. "How is your day?" The class was impressed, but Amity knew something was up. "We may be your abominations, but you guys are our a-mom-inations." Luz added. "Splendid wordplay, A+!" The teacher said.
After class, Willow walked with Alexa in the hallway. "Wonderful work today, Willow and Alexa." The teacher complimented. "Looks like we have not one, but two top students." He took the badge from Amity and gave it to Willow. "Uh, thank you, sir." Willow thanked. Amity cleared her throat. "Hey, sis." Alexa greeted. "Last time I saw you, your abomination was mush, and you're a traitor!" Amity snapped. "What did you do?" "I, uh, took your pep talk to heart, Amity." Willow lied. "Sis, I'm sick of you taking full credit for our projects, so I teamed up with Willow." Alexa added. "I bet you did, I've got my eyes on you, Half-a-witch, and half-a-sister, that badge is mine." Amity grunted, backing up from the conversation. "Uh oh, I think Amity is onto us." Willow panicked.
Later that day, Willow took us over to the lunch table where Gus and Alexa were sitting. "Hey, do humans eat PB&J's?" Gus asked. "Oh my gosh, I haven't eaten real food in so long, please give me some." Luz replied. "I'm used to eating garbage." I said. "My life is pretty sad." "I don't know, Gus." Alexa sighed. "If Amity saw that..." "I saw that, abominations don't eat!" Amity snapped, shaking me and Luz. "I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE, YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM ME! WHAT ARE YOU? WHO ARE YOU? I WANT ANSWERS!" "Amity Blight." The abomination teacher said. "I suspected a twist of jealousy, but this, this is just sad." "But I... No! Look at them!" Amity explains. "Report to Principal Bump's office, now!" He ordered. Amity left the cafeteria in defeat.
After that, I was getting really warm, so I stepped out into the world with Luz. "I'm a sweaty little abomination." I sighed. "Me too." Luz added. "But, now, we don't have to worry about Amity. High five!" Gus, Alexa, and Willow looked confused. "Slap our hand, it's a human thing." I said, demonstrating it with Luz. Gus was afraid to high five, but once he did, he wouldn't stop. "Oh, man, what a rush!" Gus exclaims. All of a sudden, Amity came into the room with a man, who I believe was the headmaster. "Hello, students." He greeted. "Principal Bump." Willow gasped as Luz and I got back into character. "Amity?" Alexa asked. "What's going on?" Principal Bump started to examine us. "Abominations, rise." He said as we listened. "Abominations, lie." I lie down on the floor. "Viral fame is a worthy pursuit." Luz lied. "Your cat would never eat you if it got the chance." "Oh, no, abomination, how strange for it to get the command wrong." Principal Bump said. "I mean, lie down." Luz laid down on a desk. "So very lifelike, when Miss Blight told me about your abominations, I had to come by, see what they're made of." I gulped. "Oh, I have their list of ingredients right here." Willow explains. "No, we were hoping for a closer look." Principal Bump continued, pulling out a dagger. "Willow, I'll allow you the first cut." "You can't just cut open a human, can't you?" Willow whispered. Luz nodded. "Willow, go ahead and make the first incision." Principal Bump ordered again. "Wait, Principal Bump!" Gus shouted, knocking over some containers of abominations. "High five!" "Run!" Alexa shouted as I ran out of the room with Willow and Luz to escape. "They're getting away!" Amity yelled.
As we got to the hallway, we had to catch a breath after running for too long. "This is all our fault, Willow." Luz sighed. "Peter and I just wanted to see what a real magic school was like." "Well, how do you guys like it?" Willow asked. "It's lovely, actually." Luz giggled. "Yeah, aside from your headmaster trying to dissect Luz with a dagger, it's pretty cool." I replied. "Okay, we should get out of here before..." Willow started as the doors were being sealed. "...Bump seals us in." We started to run towards some other exits, but they all closed. "Shit!" I shouted as Principal Bump released a few abominations to charge towards us. We hid behind a nearby pillar. "This is awful, I don't know what to do." Willow cried. "Amity's right, I'm just Half-a-witch Willow." "You're Full-witch Willow." I corrected. "And you're great." "Hey, someone once told us that great witches are resourceful." Luz added, pulling some stuff out of her pocket from earlier. "That's it!" Willow cheered, picking up the slime ball. "You mean that greasy slime ball?" I asked. "Guys, it's a seed, thank goodness you had it on you." Willow explains. "Yeah, thank goodness someone told me to hold onto it." "Crap, I forgot about your plant magic." I said. Willow concentrated on the seed as she grew some vines to attack the abominations that were hunting us. Finally, the vines took a grasp of Principal Bump just before the doors opened. "There's the exit!" Luz shouted as Amity blocked the doorway. "Not so fast! I'm not letting you get away so easily." Amity grunted. "I WANT MY BADGE! Abominations, seize!" More abominations came to us by Amity's command. Luz and I attacked her abominations. Willow cast a spell to stop another one from attacking us. "You two get out of here while you still can!" Willow shouted. "No!" I exclaimed. "We're not leaving you." "I may get detention, but you'll both get dissected." Willow explains. "So, go!" Willow wrapped a vine around us and got us to escape. "Willow!" Luz cried. "C'mon, we gotta go find Eda!"
"Eda!" We cried as we arrived at The Owl House. "Hey, hey, what is this? Ugh!" Eda wondered as we hugged her and King. "I never understand when you guys do this. "Your lesson worked, keeping junk in Luz's pocket saved our lives!" I exclaimed. "But, wait, our new friends, they're in danger!" All of a sudden, we all saw Willow, Alexa, and Gus running towards us. "Luz, Peter!" She cried as they hugged us. "Seriously, what is that?" Eda asked. "You won't believe it, guys, everything is perfect now!" Alexa cheered. "It's true, I don't believe it." Luz replied. "Principal Bump was so impressed with my plant work, he's switching me to the plant magic track!" Willow explains as her uniform changes from pink to green. "That's awesome." I commented. "What about Amity?" Luz asked. "Last we checked, she was asking Bump if today could count as extra credit." Gus replied. "Well, we can't wait to see you in action next time we sneak in." I laughed. "Uh, about that." Alexa chuckled nervously. "You're kinda, sort of, banned, both of you." Gus added, pulling out a poster of me and Luz that said 'banned'. "That's my kiddos!" Eda cheered. "But we can come here, and teach you what we learned." Willow suggested. "Aw, that would be nice, but, I have a pretty great teacher already." Luz said. "I couldn't agree more." I added. "Yeah, that's right, Luz and Peter are my students, back off, academy twerps!" Eda joked, patting us both on the head. "Aw, babies' first wanted poster, good job, kiddos, looks like I taught you both something after all." "Uh, you high five with your hands, not your head." Gus corrected
Surprise! I wanted to make another OC for the story, so may I introduce Alexa Blight, identical twin sister of Amity! -Mal.
