Why don't they want me to know about the party? They know how much I love parties! Lenny worriedly thought to himself. Then he gasped and thought, What if they're not telling me because they don't want to hang out with me anymore?! Lenny went over to Alice and asked, "Alice, do you and the others still like me?"

  "Of course we do, Lenny," Alice replied, to which Lenny asked, "Then what's going on?"

  Alice quickly thought of something and answered, "Well, uhh... Percy has just built a new machine, and the others are testing it out."

  "They're testing out Percy's inventions? Without me?" Lenny said with a twinge of hurt in his voice and a tear slipping out from his eye.

  "Well, uuuhhh..." Alice tried to think of an explanation, "the machines are power generators that are run on different emotions. The reason why we didn't want you there was because, um... Percy thought you might short out the joy-powered generator."

  "So you're saying that Percy doesn't trust me?" Lenny asked with somewhat more hurt in his tone of voice.

  "What? No!" Alice was immediately regretting what she just said, "That's not what I meant!"

  However, it was already too late. Lenny's ears and short tail drooped down, and he sadly sulked off. Oh, that was such a stupid thing to say! Now I've ruined everything! Oh, what am I going to do now? Alice remorsefully thought to herself.
