I dig my claws into the hill, getting the best traction I could.
I keep Silver in my jaws, making sure she was still breathing.
I still watch where my claws dig in the dirt, because one wrong move could send the both os us carreening downwards.
I wouldn't get hurt that much, but my fear of crushing Silver made me very careful.
I kept climbing higher, keeping my injured leg off the ground.
I finally reach the top.
I set her down on the flat grass, spotting a rushing river that would knock a person in if they put their hand in.
A large carpet of moss was surrounding the banks, covering the rocks at the sides.
I go over to the river and dip my jaw in, my size the only thing that allowed me to stay upright.
I take a few mouthfuls for myself, then take another mouthful and limp over to Silver.
I gently dribble all the water out of my mouth, trickling into her body.
The moon was just rising.
I lay down next to her, my belly hugging her.
I curl my tail to her side, my wing over her.
I lick the wound on my arm clean, then resring my head on the grass for a moment.
I look up at the moon and breath deeply.
The moon could always calm me down.
I tuck my head underneath my wing, my head just beside her body.
But I decided to keep watch.
I put my head just outside my wing, hoping that my body heat was enough to keep her warm.
Morning
I wake up, blinking the sleep out of my eyes.
My clothes were damp.
I was exhauted, but thanks to the water, energetic at the same time.
I groan. I was sore everywhere.
"Moon?" I ask, a little nervous.
I was in total darkness.
I heard her.
I lifted my wing up just enough to poke my head inside.
I realized her tail was curved around me.
She poked her head in, her scar still pretty bad.
She gently nudged me, a sound sort of like purring coming from her chest.
I was glad she survived.
Glad she lasted whatever she did last night.
"What happened? Are you okay? I didn't hurt you, did I?" I ask, eyeing the long scar in her face.
I nod. And shake my head.
I didn't really pay attention to the order it was in. I was just glad she was alert.
She nuzzles into me more, cuddling into my chest.
She snorts loudly.
I just noticed how bad the bags beneath her eyes were.
"I'm sorry." I say, sorry that I had hurt her.
I pick up my chin off the ground and tilt my head. What was she sorry for?
Oh. I shook my head in the wrong order.
I place my chin beside her lap, trying to smile to give her some comfort.
The best I could manage was a little fold at the sides of my lips.
I snuggled up with her, hugging her soft nose.
"Thank you." I say.
She purred.
It was probably just me, but her purr sounded like Toothless' from How To Train Your Dragon.
I hear a large branch snap.
I let go of her nose as her eyes narrow.
I snap my head outside my wing, my tail curling around her a little tighter.
I quickly scan the ground.
This was a great vantage point. I could see everything from up here.
Nothing.
Except a squirrel that jumped from branch to branch.
I huffed, slightly annoyed, then poked my head back under my wing.
She snuggled into me again, rubbing her lower jaw into the ground.
She had an itch, but she couldn't reach it.
I laugh, then scratch it for her.
Her hind leg moved happily, purring loudly.
I heard a growl.
It was her stomach.
I tilt my head at her.
When was the last time she ate?
I laughed sheepishly at her look, knowing if she could talk, she would be asking me when I ate last.
I laughed at myself, realizing I still had my bag on my back.
"Whoops." I giggle to myself, digging in my seemingly bottomless bag.
"Let's see..." She says, pulling out an item and saying what ot was before divibg back into her bag again.
"15 bars of chocolate, 10 water bottles, one Meeting by Nightshade1300, one phone, one charger, one change of clothes, fluffy blanket, and a pair of headphones. All the essentials."
I feel my eyes widen. It looked and sounded like she planned on running away. Did she really dislike her human parents that much?
The smell of the chocolate wafted towards me. It smelled really good.
But she was starving. She needed to eat before me.
I poke my nose in her bag and sniff. I smelled the spray pain from a while ago and also a very strong scemt of liquorish.
It didn't smell very good.
"C'mon. You can have some." I say, waving a chocolate bar near her head.
I nudge the chocolate back to her. She was hungry.
I could probably find berries or something.
"Dang it! Ran out of liquorish yesterday. Have to stock up on that." I mutter, biting into the chocolate in my hand.
I was kimd of glad I didn't take the chocolate. It doesn't mix well with dragon's digestive tracks.
I offer her the chocolate one more time, and she refused.
"Okay." I pout, finishing the bar.
I nod happily.
She got at least something in her system.
I nuzzle into her chest again. I still couldn't believe how much she was willing to sacrifice for me.
I hear the water rushing behind us.
That's what she needed. Water.
She got up and walked over to a raging river.
She dipped her jaw in and took a few large gulps.
She takes a scoop and comes over to me.
She clamps her jaw shut and tilts her head at me.
I lay down on my back.
"Whatchya doin' there?" I ask, looking up at her.
I put my chin on the ground, then open my mouth, jerking my head to the stream.
I shut my maw and swallow what was in my mouth.
I get up to get more, hoping she would get the hint.
"Ya want meh two get sum watah?" I ask, trying to achieve some sort of accent but failing miserably.
I nod my head in agreement, but then shake my head sarcastically at your terrible accent.
I laughed at her look, getting up and heading over to the powerful stream.
I stick my hands in, the water calming a little, but raged a little ways down.
I charge over to her.
She couldn't keep controlling the stream like that without hurting herself.
I quickly nudge her away from the edge.
The stream was too powerful for her. Especially when she was this exhausted.
I snort, my nose touching her stomach.
I make my eyes plead it's too strong, but I didn't know if she could understand dragon that well.
"I'm fine, see?" I smirk, dunking my hands back in.
I picked her up, setting her down far away from the stream and snorting loudly.
I could sense her power level. It was dangerously low.
She needed to stop.
But knowing her, she would only stop if she learned the hard way.
I poked my tounge out at her.
She was messing with my fun.
I blow a ring of smoke at her and snort with the best smirk I could manage.
I could play that game, too.
