Great, it's the land of people interfering with my love life.
Okay, it was obviously Gumball. I mean, who else is that smart in Aaa? I turned, just to see if he was alone. Yes, it was him, and yes, he was alone. After him, came Cake. The kid's face went slack when he saw him. "Boy Bubblegum!" he whispered loudly. Gumball raised his eyebrows in an offended way that I thought he had reserved only for Marshall.
Speaking of Marshall... "Gumball, Cake, where's Marshall Lee?" I asked. Cake frowned. "I am not bringing that demon to this place. I don't care if you two are in a rela-" she saw Gumball and stopped, clearing her throat. "Well it's not like I wanted them to start dating! In fact, you were my first choice for Fi-" I put my hand over her mouth and dragged her away. "I hadn't exactly told him yet." I told her.
Cake glared at me. "Why not?" she said angrily. "I just didn't want to hurt him! He's one of my bros!" Cake narrowed her eyes at me. "Pick one or the other, Fionna! This is not Twilight!" she hissed. "Alright, alright! I pick Marshall Lee!" I said exasperatedly. Cake shook her head. "Fionna, I just said it's not Twilight! So go over there, and make nice! Or go back, break up with Marshall Lee, the demon king, and then go over there and make nice!"
I almost laughed out loud at that. "Yeah... Cake, that's not happening any time soon." Cake smiled mischeviously. "It might." I glared at her. "I'm serious, Cake! No funny business!" I said, a little too loudly. Gumball glanced over at us, hurt in his eyes, probably wondering what was taking so long. I cringed, and gestured towards him. "Why'd you have to hurt him, Cake? Why?"
Cake started sputtering with anger. "I hurt him? I? I? I'm not the one dating the demon! And you told me you were going to tell him a few weeks ago!" I crossed my arms. "I never said any such thing." Cake glared at me, and pulled out a tape recorder from my backpack. "Hey Fionna, does Gumball know you're dating a demon king over him?" I heard her say on the tape.
"No, and don't call him that! But I'll tell Gumball soon, okay? I just don't want to hurt him." I sighed in the tape. Cake smirked at me. "I rest my case." I shook my head. "No, you don't. I said I'd tell him soon. I didn't say when." Cake glared at me in silence for a minute or two, and then continued the tape. "Fionna, soon isn't good enough. I need a specific time." Cake said in the past. "Okay, okay. I'll tell him tomorrow, or the day after. Happy?" I heard myself say on the tape. I rolled my eyes. "Okay, you got me. Happy now, Cake?" I said.
Cake shook her head at me, her eyes narrowed. "No Fionna. I'm not happy. And I'm not going to be happy until you go over there to that poor boy and either explain exactly why you didn't tell him sooner, or make out with him and break up with the demon." I glared at her for a second, then got up and went over to Gumball. "Hey." I said. "Hey." He said. That kid popped up again. "Are you two dating?" he gawked.
Gumball shook his head sadly, and I rolled my eyes. "No. Weren't you paying attention? I'm dating, uh, someone else." That weird kid gawked at us again. "Oh... you're dating Flame Prince?" Gumball's head shot up. "Flame Prince? She has two boyfriends?" I glared at the kid. "No, I don't. Seriously, Gumball! I don't." The kid had a confused look on his face. "Oh. Because I'm dating the Flame Princess, and before that, I had a crush on Princess Bubblegum for a while."
I knew exactly who he was talking about; Gumball's female counterpart. "Shut up!" I hissed quietly at him, my cheeks flushing. "I think Fionna must have had feelings for you at one time or another. Did you reject her as much as Bubblegum rejected me?" The kid asked Gumball, clearly not able to take a hint. "I wouldn't reject Fionna." Gumball said. I put my head in my hands.
This kid obviously wasn't helping. "And the cat said she was dating Marshall Lee... is that boy Marceline?" The dog asked. I squeezed my eyes shut. There was an awkward silence. Thanks for that, kid. Really, thanks. Cake trotted over at that point. "What are you two idiots doing? Can't you see they're trying to patch up a lover's quarrel?!" She practically shouted at the kid and his dog. Great... Thanks Cake.
