Day 21
"Mama," your eldest child calls for your attention.
He is standing in front of the Christmas tree, looking expectantly under it. As if at any second, gifts are going to appear. This is the first year that they decided to write a letter to Santa on their own. And needless to say, they are very excited about the holidays. As for your youngest child, they are only one year old, so they really cannot comprehend what's going on.
"What is it, baby?"
"Do you think Santa is going to like the cookies we baked?" The question is so sweet that it melts your heart.
You've been doing a good job keeping your children away from all the hunting in your life. Though, truth be told, it helps that they're small enough not to ask questions about your sudden disappearances. They know mommy and daddy have a side job away from home, but they don't know enough to understand the implication and dangers of your work. You prefer it that way. For them, monsters and fairy tales are just made-up stories. Well, except Santa, of course.
"Don't worry, baby, Santa's gonna love the cookies." Dean's voice comes from the door's threshold, he's holding your one-year-old in his arms. Warmth spreads all over your body when he smiles at you.
