Mistakes
~Five Days Later || 12:00~
"Are you sure you can't stay any longer?" Y/N asks, but Jimin shakes his head. He fixes his jacket, double checking his hair.
"Do I look okay, babe?" he asks, stepping out of the bathroom. Her hungry eyes scan over him, her tongue wetting her lips.
"Mhmm, I'd say you look more than okay." Jimin softly chuckles, heading over to her. He's so tired from these past few days of constant interviews and working, but at least he has Y/N.
He gives her a quick peck, glancing at Baby on the bed. She's all curled up. She's almost fully potty trained now. She still has accidents here and there (which would lead to Y/N and Jimin rock paper scissoring over who cleans it up), but for the most part, she's been good. Y/N meets his eyes, hers sparkling in the soft lighting of the room.
"When will you be home?" she asks.
"Not until later probably, lots of interviews."
"Famous," Y/N teases with a cheeky grin.
"You should be doing these interviews with me. You're a L/N, after all."
"That name is mostly famous to Ganymede and Mars. It's kind of frowned upon on Earth. I don't blame them for not caring about me," she says.
Jimin frowns. "But you're a part of our crew and you helped save the solar system, they should still want to speak with you."
She shrugs. "My father's legacy will forever be part of me, even if I mentally pushed it away."
Jimin admires her for a moment, then Baby gets up and hops off the bed, trotting over to them. She curls up on top of Jimin's feet, looking up at him with her gorgeous puppy eyes. "Okay, she's literally the cutest thing in this entire solar system," Jimin says, leaning down and petting the girl.
"We made a fantastic decision, didn't we?"
"That was mostly you. You're the brains in the relationship, not me."
She gives him a doubtful look. "Sorry, who was valedictorian again?" He laughs, picking Baby up and holding her in his arms.
She's definitely getting bigger. She feels heavier and is growing pretty fast. Granted, she won't be fully grown for a while, but she's noticeably larger than she was when they first got her. "Who's a good girl?" Jimin asks. The puppy sticks out her tongue in response. She's seriously the cutest thing. "My two precious girls, what would I do without you?" he says, kissing Baby's forehead before approaching Y/N and kissing hers.
"You'd be lost as hell," she teases, making Jimin smile. He's nervous and angry about today, but at least she makes him feel better. He's so, so angry about all these interviews. He feels like he's about to blow up, but he holds it in both for his and her sake. The last thing he needs is a mental breakdown in the middle of their happy Earth journey. He knows she'd pout and tell him to tell her everything, but he can't. Jimin doesn't want to cry. He has everything he's ever wanted. His brother, a nice house, a beautiful dog, and the woman of his dreams. How selfish is he that he can't get over doing interviews? Why does he feel so weak?
He places Baby on their bed, feeling his pockets. "Looking for something?" she asks, and he shrugs.
"Just making sure I have everything," he replies, but he goes still. Where's his phone?
"Uh oh, what'd you lose?"
He pouts. "My phone." He checks his side of the bed and his nightstand but finds nothing. "Jagi, have you seen it? I have no idea where I put it," he says in a whine, causing her to chuckle and stroll away. He watches as she heads into the bathroom, and after only a couple seconds, she comes back into the room with his phone in her hand. Jimin smiles, approaching her and giving her a peck. "My point stands: what would I do without you?"
"Lose all your stuff apparently," she says. He kisses her again, this one lasting a little longer. He lingers on her lips, not wanting to pull back just yet. He doesn't get the chance to, seeing as she leans back for him. "Have a good day today, okay?" He can't help himself: he gives her one last peck.
"I love you, baby."
"I love you too, Min," she replies with a smile.
And so he starts his day, trying not to lose his mind...
~16:22~
"Alright, please sit," the interviewer says, causing Jimin to gulp as he takes a seat. The camera is on him, which is something he should be used to by now, but he isn't. He feels oddly nervous for this interview for some reason. He's done almost ten today already, which has run him dry, but this one is the one putting him on edge. Jimin can't seem to understand why. Is there something about the office space they're in bothering him? Is he tired from the long day? Is it the interviewer?
Jimin shakes himself out of his thoughts, focusing on the man sitting across from him. "I'm Theodore Elicer, Theo for short, it's nice to meet you," the interviewer, Theo, says.
Jimin shakes his hand. "Park Jimin." He already knows that Theo knows his name, but it's the polite thing to say. Rather be formal and be told to chill than be too informal and be looked down upon. That's how Seulgi always looked at it, especially in the beginning, then she changed. For the better, that's for sure, but she was always good at being formal when the situation called for it.
"Just so you know, this will be a live interview. It should take about ten minutes, hopefully no interruptions." Jimin nods, trying not to shake too badly. "There's a water placed next to your chair if you need it, but other than that, I'm ready to start." Jimin eyes the water, swallowing before glancing back at Theo.
"I am too," he says, giving him the best smile he can muster. Jimin shouldn't be nervous, he's just overreacting. He's sure of it.
"Alright, then let's get this show on the road," Theo says to his camera crew. They burst into action, scurrying around to make sure the lighting is perfect in the small office. Jimin and Theo sit across from each other, the main camera set up so both of them are in frame. There's also closer cameras that focus on close-ups, but those won't be visible to the wide shot so it doesn't really matter too much. It's a detail Jimin decides to push out of his mind.
"Alright, on my mark. Three, two, one," the director says, counting them in.
Theo adjusts his posture, sitting up and locking eyes with Jimin for a moment before turning to the camera. "Hello dear viewers, welcome to another episode. Today I'm accompanied by Captain Park Jimin of the Moonchild. In case you somehow don't know him, he led his crew through the Ring of all places and came back as the sole survivors. Not only that, but he was a key player in both Battles for Ganymede. Him and his crew are everywhere right now, and today, he's joining us to give us the inside details on how he decided to help everyone, what his plans are for the future, and his thoughts on the Earth Mars war." Theo motions to Jimin, giving him a tight smile. "First things first, can you introduce your entire crew?"
Jimin hums. "Of course." He shifts towards the camera and politely smiles, slightly bowing. "It's very nice to be here today. And Theo, thank you for having me. My crew consists of my Executive Jeon Jungkook, Y/N L/N, Kang Seulgi, Jung Hoseok, Kim Taehyung, Min Yoongi, Kim Seokjin, and Byun Baekhyun. Recently, we got two newcomers from Ganymede, lead researchers named Anya Forester and Sapphire Reddings."
Jimin turns back to Theo, who nods in understanding. "And how would you describe your crew?"
"Loyal," Jimin is quick to reply. "I've never met a more loyal group of people. At first, we started as strangers, and now? We're closer than family. I've seen them almost die right in front of me. That's not something you can witness and be okay with afterwards. My entire crew had my back every step of the way. I'm so grateful to them, and if they're watching this, I'd like to thank them for being as determined as they have been this last like, what? Five, six months now? Wow, it's been that long."
Theo smiles. "If you had to choose a favorite, who would you choose?"
Jimin's made slightly uncomfortable by the question, but he laughs it off. "I think I'm legally obliged to say my girlfriend, Y/N L/N."
"Ah yes, L/N. How long have you been together now? One, two months?" Theo asks.
"Four," Jimin corrects, nodding.
"I see, and is it a strong relationship?"
Jimin's left eye twitches. "We're living together, we even got a dog. So yeah, it's beyond strong. I love this woman with all my heart, and I plan to marry her. I don't care that I just said that live on TV, it's only the truth."
Theo takes in his words, leaning a bit closer. "And what if something happens?"
Jimin moves back, confused. "What?" he asks, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Between you two, how would it impact the crew?"
"At the end of the day, the crew will stay together. Always," Jimin says, unsure of how to get away from this topic.
"I hear a rumor that her ex is on the crew, is this true?"
"I-I don't see how that's relevant to the rest of my crew, but yes, Jeon Jungkook and her dated for two years on Ganymede. He's with Taehyung now, the two are happily together."
"Do you ever get worried about that?" Theo asks. It's at this point that Jimin is beyond uncomfortable, but he doesn't want to cause a scene.
"No, never. What I do get worried about is there not being enough alcohol on the Moon," Jimin jokes, chuckling. Theo softly smiles, nodding. "Dealing with a crew of eleven including myself? Ohh yeah, pass the Bourbon. Ganymede was bad enough, then the alien life? That was even harder."
"Did you ever fear for Y/N's life while you were inside the Ring?" he asks. Does this guy have a fetish for Y/N or something? Jimin grits his teeth but forces a smile.
"If I'm being honest, I've come to fear for her life every second she's not in my eyesight. That's what trauma does to you. Did you know that while we were on Ganymede, her father lied to me and told me she was dead? To this day I still don't know why he lied."
"That's very interesting, you met her father?" Theo asks.
"I did, he was the one responsible for Kim Namjoon's death. For those who don't know, Kim Namjoon was originally the Captain of the Moonchild." It hurts to talk about Namjoon, but he'd rather talk about his fallen Captain than Y/N. For her sake, her name needs to be kept out of the media's mouth. The last thing she needs is rumors being spread about her, especially after she told him this morning about how her family is looked down upon.
"Ah yes, Captain Kim Namjoon. May he rest in peace. How did the crew move past his death?" Theo asks. Finally, a painful but normal question.
"It was very difficult. We're still not moved on, but together we've made it easier."
"I hear he was especially close to you, correct?"
Jimin goes still, blinking. What did he just say? "Uh well, yeah, I guess you can say that. I'd say Jungkook was closer, those two knew each other for years."
"You saw him as a father figure though, correct?" Theo says, his eyes never parting from Jimin's.
Jimin slowly nods, leaning back on his seat. "Yes, why?"
"How did you manage to move past that?" he asks, faking a look of concern.
"I don't..." Jimin lets out a small breath, shaking his head. His heartbeat increases, his eyes widening. The walls seem to close in around him as he fumbles over his words. The few seconds that pass feel like hours in Jimin's mind as he struggles to remember how to breathe. "I-I don't know," he finally manages to mutter out. His hands clutch at the sides of the chairs, memories flooding into his head.
"Kai too, unfortunate how he went," Theo says with a sad smile. Jimin doesn't answer, choosing to stay stiff instead. "He made you acting Captain of the Hestia, right?" Jimin nods. "And how did that work out?"
"We're alive, aren't we?" Jimin replies.
"But where's the Hestia?"
"Five crew members survived. A horrible situation, but seeing as it was a completely new world, I'd say we got lucky."
"Yeah, lucky," Theo says, trailing off. Jimin can't help but feel like he's being accused of something.
"The Belt, Ganymede, Earth, and Mars were all in there. Four factions, yet almost no one survived. Goes to show how dangerous that place is, and why we shouldn't mess around with it."
"Poor Kai," Theo says with a sigh, and Jimin agrees. "You were acting governor for him too. He must have trusted you a lot."
"He did, and Ganymede got put back together. If it was him, it probably would have been faster, but I'm grateful I was able to honor his memory."
What is up with this dude and bringing up Jimin's worst memories? He tries not to let it show, but he's pissed. Beyond pissed. He can see red, like when Y/N's father started taunting him about Namjoon. Does this interview ever end? Can Jimin punch him to make it stop? No. No acting on that anger. Jimin tries to keep it inside, but he's seething. It's nearly impossible not to scream at him for saying shit like this.
"I'm glad too, but surely you've had disagreements."
"Disagreements?" Jimin asks.
"Oh sure, with leading Ganymede, this mission in general. How do you feel about it?" Okay, somewhat normal question.
"We're helping people. That's all that matters to me. The stress isn't fun, losing people is far from fun, but that happens in war. There are millions who have lost their lives. So, if I can save even one, prevent one family from going through that pain? No matter what it's worth it."
Theo smiles. "Very touching sentiment. Does your crew feel the same way?" Jimin feels his heart hammer against him, his pulse heightening as he processes the question. Baekhyun. He was the only one who ever really questioned it. But he's much better now. He's accepted the crew and loves them, that's what's important here.
"There were a few moments where tensions rose a little, but nothing we couldn't move past."
"Is Namjoon proud of you?" Theo suddenly asks.
Jimin blinks, his knuckles turning pale from how tightly he's clutching at his chair. "W-What?" he says in a stammer, eyes widening.
"Is Namjoon proud of you?" he asks, emotionless. The walls feel like they're closing in around him, Jimin's lungs begging for air that just won't come.
"I-I'm sorry, I don't... I don't..." He keeps trying to talk, but no words come out. His eyes see red, the color blocking his entire vision.
"Woah, Jimin. Jimin, come back to me, are you okay?" the interviewer asks.
Jimin's breathing goes back to normal. "I'm here, I'm okay. What was the question?"
"I asked if you knew your crew's plan for the future," Theo repeats with his brows knit together. Jimin tries to swallow, but his throat is completely dry. Oh, great. Jimin's hallucinating now. Wonderful.
"Yeah, plans. We haven't really thought too far, but we want to support the Earth Mars war if it comes back..." The rest of the interview goes by like a blur, Jimin's anger rising more and more by the second...
~20:36~
Jimin strolls up to the mansion, his vision clouded by his anger. This day has been so shit, all he wants to do is blow off some steam. He knocks on the front door, leaning back on his heels and waiting. After another full minute, the door opens, revealing a tired Yoongi.
"Jimin? What are you doing here? And where's Y/N?"
"She's home, I'm just here to drown in alcohol," he replies, trying not to yell and scream, but he's barely holding on.
"Does she know you're here?" he asks, and Jimin shrugs.
"No, but I'll text her or something. I'm not planning on staying long. Only for a drink or two. I want to sit in peace for a few moments."
Yoongi frowns, giving the man a look of sympathy. "Um, this may not be the best place to be right now."
"What? Why?" Before he can answer, Jimin hears voices from inside. Actually, it sounds more like... crying.
Jimin stares at Yoongi, his eyes asking what his lips cannot. "It's best if you come see for yourself."
"Was anyone going to tell me that something bad was happening to my crew?" Jimin asks, gritting his teeth. This is the last thing he needs today. He's already about to scream at the next person he sees, and this isn't helping.
"Yes of course, this just happened," Yoongi says. Jimin lets out a shaky breath, choosing not to reply. Yoongi moves aside, so Jimin steps in, looking around for the source of their distress.
He heads deeper into the main room, and his eyes widen. Everyone's here, Baekhyun in the center of them holding a suitcase. "Are you sure about this?" Jungkook asks.
Baekhyun sadly nods. "Congratulations on your engagement. I wanted to stay until at least that happened, but I need to go now," he replies, his voice soft. Jungkook nods in understanding, placing his hand on Baekhyun's shoulder.
Jimin steps closer, narrowing his eyes. "What's going on?" he asks, causing the group to jump.
Baekhyun meets Jimin's eyes, his gaze softening. "Jimin, um, let's talk. Outside, maybe?" Baekhyun asks. Although he's wary, Jimin still nods, stepping back. He watches as Baekhyun takes turns hugging each member, whispering stuff into their ears and saying one phrase Jimin has come to hate: 'goodbye'.
Baekhyun treks forward after he's done hugging everyone, stopping in front of Yoongi. "You know, despite our differences, I always kind of liked you," Baekhyun says with a small smile.
Yoongi chuckles. "I'd say I agree, but it'd kill me."
Baekhyun laughs. "Oh get in here you bastard." They hug, which only makes Jimin confused. What the actual hell is going on? What's Baekhyun doing exactly? Baekhyun pulls away from Yoongi, looking over at Jimin. "Outside?" he asks. Jimin slowly nods before walking away. The door is still open, so he slips right out with Baekhyun on his tail. Within what feels like a few seconds, the door is shut, and the two of them are outside in the setting sun, staring at one another.
"Want to fill me in?" Jimin asks, trying not to sound angry.
"Walk with me?" Jimin agrees, following in Baekhyun's footsteps as he walks down the sidewalk. "You know about my Earth life, how it was never exactly... good?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"I'm a horrible person, Jimin. I really am," Baekhyun says.
"What? You blew up an entire battleship for the sake of the solar system I highly doubt-"
"But I am. I've let my anger consume me for the longest time." Jimin sets his jaw. Is that what Jimin's doing right now? Letting his anger consume him? How is he even supposed to let it out? Jimin hasn't felt this lost and confused and even angry in a long time. He hates it, but he can't help it.
"I need to fix things. Both for myself and the people around me."
"So... what are you doing?" Jimin asks.
Baekhyun sighs. "I'm leaving."
Jimin takes a step back. "Wait... what? But what about Taehyung and Jungkook's wedding?"
"They told me it's still a few months away. They wanted to take their time planning it. Maybe three months from now."
"Jungkook's time span though..."
"I don't know, I don't make the rules, they do. All I know is as soon as I get the invite, I'll be there. Whenever you need me," Baekhyun says.
Jimin frowns. "We're also having a funeral for Namjoon in a week or so."
"And I'll be there too, but I need to at least make things right with my parents. It's been so long. I need to own up to everything I've done." Jimin stares at the man for a few moments, his sadness quickly changing to pride. He steps forward, placing a hand on Baekhyun's shoulder.
"Then it was an honor fighting by your side. When will you come back?"
"Honestly?" Jimin nods. "I don't know if I will." Jimin can't hide the shock in his expression. "This crew is my second family, yes, but these problems are going to take longer than a month or two to fix. I need a lot of time. If you ever need anyone, don't hesitate to call me. But for now? I need as much space as humanly possible." Baekhyun holds up his comm, placing the device in Jimin's hand. "I don't believe this belongs to me anymore. Give it to the next person you recruit, since you and I both know your kind heart will take a chance on another lost soul."
As much as Jimin wants to offer Baekhyun kind words, he can't. He's so shocked he can barely process what's going on right now. "Jimin, you've shown me I'm so much more than just a stupid pilot. I'm so sorry I ever took you for granted," Baekhyun says.
"It's all in the past."
"But that doesn't mean I shouldn't apologize." Baekhyun comes closer, sadly smiling. "You're the best Captain I've ever met, that's for damn sure. You're doing better than the heroes of the solar system like that Commander Clementine."
"Baekhyun..." Jimin trails off, but the Pilot doesn't give him a chance to continue.
"Keep leading them. If the Earth Mars war doesn't start up again for say, half a year, I'll try and join you. I'll keep in touch, okay?" Jimin takes a moment, then nods.
"We'll miss you. You know that, right?"
"I know, sir. I know." They stare for a few moments, then, Baekhyun hugs him. Jimin returns it immediately, squeezing back and sniffling. Everything is falling apart right now, and this is the last thing Jimin needs. But he respects Baekhyun's choice. He'd make the same one in his shoes.
"Baekhyun?" Jimin asks. The man hums. Jimin sighs, closing his eyes and holding him closer. "Can I give you one last order?"
"Of course, sir." Jimin softly smiles.
"Take care of yourself."
~21:03~
Baekhyun stopped by not too long ago to tell you he was leaving, which you appreciated. Although you'll miss him, you still hugged him and wished him luck. You perfectly understand. He has a whole list of problems he left unsolved. Like you on Ganymede. A whole bunch of problems that took your entire life to solve. He also said Jimin was there and that he should be home soon. You thanked him and gave him one last hug goodbye before returning to your chores: aka, organizing the kitchen. More specifically, the refrigerator.
You hum to yourself, closing the fridge door. After half an hour, the fridge is finally organized. All the bad food is thrown out, and all the good is packaged in tightly. You can't wait to make another batch of kimchi stew for him. Your last try was pretty good, but you hope you can be even better. Maybe he can help you with it. Growing up on Ganymede, you didn't know too much about different cultures and cuisines. Meat was always a big thing for your family, not stuff like Korean cuisine. But making Jimin some more would be nice. Sitting on the balcony, eating and laughing, Baby licking at your toes. You smile at the thought, grabbing the pot and your wooden spoon and stirring the ramen.
You're hungry to say the least; you've been organizing all day. You thought Jimin would be stressed and tired after a long day of interviews, so you did his chores for him. The two of you split up the chores, with you handling bathrooms, feedings for Baby, and kitchen duties (including but not limited to the dishwasher, food maintenance, and keeping counters clean). He handles the bedroom (thank God), taking Baby out for walks (and playing with her), and keeping the living room in order. Might sound like an easy task, but you've already lost the TV remote six times in the past two days. You're not exactly easy to live with, which makes you feel bad for Jimin. He never complains though. You couldn't ask for a better boyfriend.
You hum to yourself, swaying back and forth as you feel the noodles. They feel mostly done, so you place the spoon down and decide to go back into your thoughts. However, they're interrupted by the sound of the door slamming shut. You jump, whipping around to see Jimin there, trudging forward. "Min? Are you okay?" you ask, stepping closer.
He shakes you off. "I'm fine, just tired."
He's clearly not okay, but you don't push at first. "How was your day?"
"Awful," he replies in a mutter.
Your expression softens. "I'm so sorry. Do you want to talk about it."
"Not really, I want to sleep."
You frown, noticing how he's rushing away already, his eyes not meeting yours. Baby runs up to him to greet him, but he doesn't look at her either. "Did you eat today?" you ask, but he doesn't reply. "Min?" you call as he walks by the counter. "Jimin," you repeat, causing him to finally look up.
"What?" he says sharply, making you jump.
"Did you eat today?"
"No," he replies, removing his eyes from you and starting forward again.
"You should eat real quick, please eat-"
"I just want to sleep," he interrupts, shaking his head. You sigh, deciding it's best not to pick a fight. He really does look tired. You'll bug him about it in the morning. Sleep is a good remedy, right?
"Okay love, sleep well. I'm about to eat, so I won't be up for a bit. Don't wait for me."
He grunts. "Yeah yeah, whatever. Shut up already."
He storms out of your view, and you stand there, dumbfounded. "Really?" you ask, raising both your brows. If he's having a tough day, you perfectly understand. If he wants to be left alone, again, you perfectly understand, but he has to tell you that. Being a bitch about it won't solve anything. You let out a huff, grabbing your bowl and placing it next to the pot. You pour the contents of your ramen inside, your mind preoccupied.
You sigh, placing your empty pot in the dishwasher along with the spoon. The bowl is calling to you, telling you to eat, but you can't concentrate. Baby sits by your leg, placing her head on your foot. That at least makes you smile. You needed that. A few minutes of staring turns into much more than that. Ten minutes pass, then twenty, then thirty. Your ramen is cold at this point, but you don't care. Your mind is on Jimin. What's going on with him? It's not like him to be so cold, even when he's upset. The last time you fought, he got concerned as soon as he saw you upset.
You groan, mentally cursing at yourself before making your decision. You move your foot away from Baby, pitter-pattering towards the back of the house. The stairs come into view, the door at the top left open from when Jimin went through. With one last sigh, you start going up, the wood creaking under your bare feet as you traverse the area. Once the top is in view, you go through the door, glancing down the hall. The bedroom door is left open too.
You furrow your brows in confusion, then decide not to question it. The closer you get, the more worried you are as well. You hear no noises, not even the soft snores you got accustomed to. Is he awake? No, he can't be, it's been half an hour now. He should be sleeping. Regardless, you step inside and peek down at the bed. He's laying there on his back in the middle of the bed, his eyes on the ceiling. Awake.
"Babe?" you ask, stepping inside. His eyes land on your form, but he doesn't speak. "What are you still doing up? Is everything alright?"
"I told you, everything's fine," he mumbles, averting his eyes.
You pout, shaking your head. "Clearly it's not. Don't push me away, Min. I just want to help-"
"Leave me alone," he interrupts, raising his tone.
You grit your teeth. "Jimin, I will gladly leave you alone if you ask nicely and tell me what the hell is going on. If someone hurt you or something serious happened, I need to know. I'm your girlfriend, I want to make sure no one hurt you-"
"Just go!" he yells, making you jump in shock.
You stare at him with wide eyes, shivering in fear at his sudden anger. What scares you the most is that he doesn't even care. He sees your shock, but he doesn't care. You rush away, going back down into the kitchen and trying not to cry. What the hell did he go through today that made him like this? Who hurt him? Did an interviewer get too intrusive? Did someone jump him on the way back? All these options flare up in your mind as you stand in front of the stove, your ramen uselessly sitting on the counter. What if someone hurt him? What if he needs medical attention? Maybe you're overthinking, but when your boyfriend comes home like this, your mind naturally jumps to the extremes.
After another five minutes of standing there, you get determined. No. He needs to sleep and eat. You gave him half an hour to cool off and be alone, but he needs to take care of himself now, otherwise it'll only get worse. He needs to eat, and if he can't fall asleep, maybe food will help. So, you make him a batch of ramen since yours is a waste. Your stomach may be growling, but you don't care. After only ten minutes, you're done, so you grab a water bottle and the bowl before heading up.
You go upstairs, walking with determination in your eyes. He's had another fifteen minutes to think. He should be fine. You push through the door, looking down and seeing him still awake. Anger flares up in his eyes, but you don't say anything. You place the water and bowl of ramen on the nightstand, which makes him look at you in confusion.
"What's this?" he asks, softer than before.
Your eyes sparkle with hope. "I brought food. I'm sorry, I know you said you just want to sleep. I won't bother you anymore, I promise. Food might help, so if you decide not to sleep, try to eat, okay?"
"I'm not going to eat it," he grumbles, making you frown. So much for hope.
"I don't care, but in case you want to. Better to be safe than sorry after all."
He stares at the food, then up at you. "Okay," he says with a shrug. What's with his attitude? You stand there awkwardly for another few seconds, about to leave. He scoffs at your lack of movement. "Why are you still here?"
"H-Huh?"
"Get out."
"This is my room too-"
"Get out!"
You jump at the yell, and a flash of your past hits your mind. Although trembling, you manage to part your lips and speak. "What the fuck is your problem?"
"My problem is you're constantly up my ass! Christ, can't you let me relax for five minutes?! You're constantly nagging! 'Jimin eat', 'Jimin what's going on', 'Jimin sleep'. Like God, can't you stop being so clingy for once?!" You refuse to cry, you refuse to. You only stare in shock. "Take a hint, I don't want to see you right now, just leave me alone!"
Your mouth falls open, unable to comprehend where all this is coming from. "Why aren't you moving? Do I really need to repeat myself?" he asks in a shout. You're about to step back when he grits his teeth. "You're so fucking annoying. Just go." Without another word, you storm out of the room, refusing to take any more of that. You don't care how mad or how bad of a day he had, he has absolutely no right to talk to you like that. You've learned a lot from your father, and one of those things is to never take shit from anyone.
Speaking of, you're hyperventilating. You rub your face and hold back the tears that need to fall. More flashes of your father and your past hit your mind. For a moment, it wasn't Jimin talking to you. It was your father. It was like you were reliving a scene from your childhood, and your entire body is frozen. Disgusted, even. A sniffle passes by, and you feel the panic attack incoming.
So, you sit on the couch, silently waiting to try and calm yourself. The panic attack ends up coming, and it takes almost fifteen minutes for it to settle down even a little bit. You place your hands over your ears as if that will stop the memories from coming. There's voices shouting at you, but you know it's in your head. You just never thought you'd see the day where Jimin's voice would be one of the many yelling at you. Especially the things he said.
You wait a full hour in silence, shaking your head and grunting before going back up. You're hoping that after a full hour, he's asleep, and if he's not? Oh well, you'll do it right in front of him, you don't care. You head upstairs, going into the bedroom. He's sleeping, and what's even better? The bowl of ramen is empty. You scoff, rolling your eyes and grabbing your bag from the corner of the room. You pack it, grabbing a week's worth of clothes and your essentials. You're quick and quiet, not caring about what happens now. Once your bag is fully packed, you sneak over to the door, glancing at his sleeping form. Why would he treat you like that, why? He needs some space to reevaluate. This is for the best. For both of you.
And without stalling for any longer, you leave.
~The Next Day || 10:22~
Jimin groans, feeling a headache coming already. That's strange, he doesn't remember drinking last night. He touches his head with one hand, then, he softly smiles. He reaches for the other side of the bed, but his hand hits nothing. He goes still. "Angel?" he whispers, opening his eyes. Jimin peeks over at her side of the bed and panics. Where's Y/N? He takes a moment and thinks, his eyes slowly widening. The previous night comes flooding back to him, and he hops up.
"Oh no. Oh fuck. No you fucking idiot, what the hell did you do?" he mutters to himself, his heart racing. "Baby?" he yells, and the puppy comes rushing into the room. "Oh good, you're alright," he whispers, kneeling and petting the dog. However, as much as he loves her, she's not the important one right now. "Jagi?!" he calls, rushing down the hall. The hall feels almost claustrophobic as he runs down it.
He jumps down the stairs, peering into the kitchen. "Y/N?" he ask, his skin going cold. Jimin's heart bounces around his chest, him checking the living room only to see an empty couch. "Y/N! Jagi!" he yells, regret blooming throughout his stomach. "Oh God, what did I do?" he whisper-asks as Baby comes rushing up behind him. "R-Right, you need breakfast... and to go out."
He pauses his search, taking her outside and watching as she does her puppy thing. He has tears streaming down his face, his arms trembling. What the hell did he do? Why was he so harsh to her? In the moment, he wasn't even thinking. He didn't see Y/N: he saw another interviewer coming to dig into his personal life. Jimin forgot where he even was. Of course that's not an excuse; he hurt his baby. His angel. His everything. He can't help but hate himself for ever opening his mouth.
Baby rushes back to him, not picking up on Jimin's mood as he brings her back inside. He feeds her, letting her eat as he goes back to his search. "Jagiya?!" he calls, checking the study. He checks each bedroom, each bathroom, the basement. Nothing. He checks every single nook and cranny he can find, but nothing. He screams for her several times, but still, nothing. Jimin feels so lost. What has he done? What the hell did he do to her?
He goes to their bedroom, trotting into the closet and peeking inside. His heart goes cold. There's barely any of her clothes left, like two outfits at most. He gulps, glancing around to try and find her bag from when they first moved in. It's no where to be seen. Jimin gets what happened, falling to his knees and placing his hand over his mouth. He quietly sobs, trying not to startle Baby while she's eating. He breathes heavily, unable to stop the whimpers passing by his mouth.
"You're such a fucking idiot. You're so fucking stupid..." Jimin cries to himself, shaking his head. Is she okay? Did she go back to the mansion? He fumbles to find his phone, grabbing it off his bed. He dials Y/N's number, bringing the phone to his ear. It rings, making him gulp and shake. "Please please please. I just want to know if you're okay," he whispers.
After a few more rings, the line asks him to leave a voicemail, which he groans but agrees to. As soon as it dings, he brings in a shaky breath. "Y-Y/N, I just... fuck, I don't even know where to begin. I genuinely don't know what to say other than I'm so sorry. What I said was unacceptable. I don't know why I said it. I don't know what got into my head, why I couldn't control my anger. I'm so sorry, baby."
He lets out a small whimper. "I love you so much, I didn't mean any of what I said. You're the most beautiful person I've ever met. I'll say it as many times as you need me to. I love you so fucking much, more than anything. And the thought that I said all that to someone I love so much fucking scares me. How could I say that to you?" He pauses to take a breath, wiping away his tears. "I know you don't want to see me right now. Please don't cry or be sad, please. I just want you to be okay. I know you don't want to talk to me, but please can you let me know if you're okay?"
Another tear falls down his face, and he angrily wipes it away. "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you. Please be okay, please." He isn't sure what else to say, so he sniffles and shakes his head. "I'm so sorry." He clicks the phone off, refusing to speak anymore. He hates himself so much right now, and he feels selfish for that. He wants to hug and kiss her: tell her he didn't mean any of it. And that's the truth. What he said last night came from the demon inside himself, not actually him.
Jimin's furious, but unlike last time, he contains it. He wants to scream and throw his phone across the room, but he chooses not to. Jimin needs to learn. For her sake. It's crazy how he's only been without her for a little bit, but he's already devastated. Without her everything seems so bland. So lifeless. He sits on the ground, bringing his knees to his chest and resting his chin on top of them. Baby strolls into the room, waddling over.
She senses his sadness, cuddling up against his leg and trying to get him to hold her. He sniffles and obeys, moving his legs down and grabbing her. He places her in his lap, petting her head. "I don't deserve you," he whispers, kissing the top of her little snout. "Your mommy loves you, okay?" Baby only looks at him, her puppy eyes making his heart melt. "She left because of me, not you. Daddy was an idiot, and mommy didn't like that. He said some things he shouldn't have said and hurt... h-he hurt..." He breaks off, crying.
He buries his head into her fur, and she lets him. "Oh God, what did I do?" It's as if all his insecurities have been confirmed. Maybe he's overreacting, but his world crashes down on him. What if Y/N's father was right? Jimin can't control his anger, so how is he fit to lead a crew and love Y/N? He's nothing. He's worthless. If he can't even contain a basic emotion, then how can he lead a crew? Is he a bad Captain too?
He clutches Baby, and she whimpers in return. "I miss her so much," he mumbles, letting his tears loose. "I hurt the one I love the most. How could I?" he asks out loud, not expecting an answer. Baby licks his cheek, trying to get him to feel better. "I'm so sorry, Baby." The puppy doesn't reply. "I love you. I love you both. I deserve this pain..."
He sobs relentlessly, preparing to do that all day when his phone dings. He yelps, jumping as Baby whines. "Sorry girl," he whispers, grabbing his phone and unlocking it. He sees Y/N's name, and his heart skips a beat. He opens the text conversation, his body coming alive again. 'I'm okay'. Two words. That's it. That's the text. He doesn't even care. It's enough. He gulps, sniffling and choosing how to reply. He could write a paragraph and explain how sorry he is. He could thank her for telling him. Or...
He types, peering at the words and debating if he should send them or not. Maybe it's out of place, but he isn't sure what to do. Baby gives him a small look, and he smiles. At least Baby is still as adorable as ever. Jimin has a feeling Baby is the only one who will keep him sane for as long as Y/N's gone. He glances over the text again, sighing before deciding to hit send. What else can he do? He sits there, bringing Baby back onto his chest before he tosses his phone to the side.
"Thank you, Baby," he murmurs, closing his eyes and pretending the world doesn't exist anymore.
~10:23~
You watch as the man gives his son a piece of cheese, praising his boy for being well behaved. You smile despite your sour mood, holding the cup of tea in your hand but not drinking from it. You don't really want it, but you didn't want to look weird. You found a hotel last night, staying indefinitely. Jimin and you need some space. You thought everything was going perfectly, but apparently not.
You miss Baby already, but there's not much you can do about that. You couldn't take her with you, that wouldn't have ended well. Despite how mad you are at Jimin, you know he'll take good care of Baby. You trust him still. But that doesn't change what he did. Seulgi is on her way, probably just about to be here. You called Jungkook, asking him if you could speak to Seulgi, and he obliged without much protest. You couldn't bring yourself to tell him about what happened. Not yet. But Seul? You need your sister, and you need her now.
"Y/N?" a female voice says, snapping you out of your thoughts. You peek up from your table, seeing Seulgi approaching you. You sadly smile, placing the cup down and standing to greet her. She notices your look and embraces you. You resist the urge to cry, biting your lower lip and letting her warmth flow through you. You try not to whimper, clutching at her back as hard as you can.
"What happened?" she asks, scared of the answer.
"Not here," you murmur in response, pulling away. You're in a small café that's right next to your hotel. You figured it would be the best place to meet her. Besides, you wanted to enjoy the fresh air. The air is the only thing keeping you sane right about now.
Seulgi manages to flag down your waiter, and you pay and leave, taking her back to the hotel. You drag her all the way up to your room, and as soon as you enter, she closes the door behind you. The door clicks, signaling you that you're alone. You break down crying, sitting on the edge of your bed as she watches in shock.
"Oh no. Babes," she whispers, sitting next to you and wrapping an arm around your shoulder.
"I-I don't know what happened he just... h-he got so angry at me last night for no reason..."
"Deep breaths, it's okay girl, it's okay," Seulgi murmurs, rubbing your back. You follow her instructions, calming yourself and taking a few deep breaths. "Did you two break up?" she asks, making you instantly panic. Oh God, you didn't, right? Is he feeling bad about what he's done? How could you know, you left him without any explanation, without a note. You groan to yourself. You couldn't even leave a note? He must be worried sick. No, wait. You shouldn't feel bad. He treated you like shit. You deserved to get away.
You set your jaw, shaking your head. "No, but if he doesn't apologize we sure as hell will. He blew up at me. He called me clingy and annoying, told me to get out and leave multiple times, and I still don't know why. He came home and blew me off completely."
Seulgi's eyes widen. "Has he ever done that before?"
You sigh. "No, never. That's why I'm so confused, what was so bad that made him yell at me?"
Seulgi frowns. "He wouldn't tell you?"
"He told me he didn't want to talk about it. God, I feel so bad too. Poor boy must be going through so much, but we obviously need some space. I'm guessing he's been suppressing his emotions for too long, and it caught up with him," you say. Before Seulgi can reply, your phone rings. You go still, locking eyes with her. She motions for you to get your phone, so you do. You grab it off your nightstand and bring it forward, seeing that Jimin is trying to call you. "Shit," you mutter, rubbing your temple with your fingers.
"Maybe you should answer, see what he has to say?"
You shrug. "Let's see if he leaves a message first. I'm still bawling my eyes out, I don't want him to hear that." You let it ring, and sure enough, he leaves a message that breaks your heart.
Every word he says makes your heart crack more. And after only thirty seconds, the voicemail ends, and you stare at your phone in amazement. What just happened? "You should at least tell him you're okay, babes," Seulgi says.
"I will. I just need a minute."
"Take your time."
You nod your thanks, taking a deep breath and replaying his words over and over again in your mind. He said some fucked up things last night, that's for damn sure. How do you feel about it? When you think back, you're honestly numb. It's hard to feel angry at him when he left a voicemail that emotional. At the same time, you need a bit of space. He really did treat you like shit, intentional or not. You don't want to punish him for too long (he's probably punishing himself enough and that's the last thing you want), but at the same time, you can't just go strolling back into his arms. What he did was wrong, and he needs to learn from it. And you could use a break too. Both of you are emotionally charged right now, so maybe you need to figure out how to handle it in your own ways.
"I don't know what to say," you murmur, shaking your head. It's the truth. What do you say? Jimin and you have been together for so long that being apart feels strange.
"It's okay babes, I understand," she whispers back, rubbing her hand on your shoulder. You lean in to it, sighing and letting the warmth fill your body. "Do you have any idea what to do?"
You nod, motioning to your phone. "I hope I don't regret this," you mutter before typing out the two words and pressing send. Only a few seconds after it sends, he reads it. You watch the screen carefully as he starts to type.
"What is it?" Seulgi asks, sensing your stiff body.
"He's typing," you reply, narrowing your eyes and waiting.
After what feels like years of waiting, you see the text and your eyes widen. "What'd he say?" she asks, deciding not to peek over your shoulder. You gulp, reading over it again.
"I love you."
