Chapter 2 Adrien Misses Everything

Adrien is in his room rather ticked off at his father.  "Why can my father not see how important it is for me to attend the party?"  Adrien asks angrily.

"Why are you so angry?"  Plagg asks.

"It is just she moves soon and I will not be able to see her off,"  Adrien replies.

Plagg thinks wow, he is upset!

Adrien sulks because he wants to be there for Marinette.  He can not because his father will not allow him to go. He sees no reason why his father should be so harsh.  It is not like he is behind on any photoshoots.  He always attends them, once he had a cold, and he went too it.

He thinks, I do want he wants all the time and this how he repays me?   He is not too happy that his father is so strict with him.  He believes it is not fair that he can not get out and do things like most people his age.

Plagg notices Adrien is in a foul mood ever since his father's refusal to let him attend Marinette's party. He does not say a word about it though because he knows it would change anything. The answer will remain the same no matter what.

Adrien does not understand why his father is so stubborn.  He knows for sure all their other friends will go to Marinette's going away party. Everyone will be there, except for him. He feels bad about it because he feels like he let Marinette down.  He shakes his head and punches his fist into the air.

He does not know what to do now.  How can he tell Marinette his father said no?  How can he bring it up without hurting her?  The last thing he wants to do is bring her any unnecessary pain. He would be a horrible friend if he did this.

   Four days later...

Adrien continues to mope about the party. He checks his watch and sees it is only fifteen minutes before two. He would text Marinette to say he can not come.  He forgot to charge his phone last night, and now it has to charge for who knows how long.

"Adrien, you have other friends?  What is the big deal about this one?"  Plagg asks.

"She is different somehow. She is great!" Adrien says.

"I am going to miss her so much," Adrien remarks, then sighs.

A few minutes later at the going away party, Alya sees Marinette pace back in forth. She wonders what trouble's her best friend.

"Marinette what is wrong?"  Alya asks.

"Dudette, I must say your folks through one cool party!" Nino remarks.

"Do not worry, I am sure he is just late!" Chole says. She thinks, I better be right.

   "Great party!"  Juleka says.

"Marinette we will all miss you."  Alix remarks.

"Yes, Paris will be odd with you gone,"  Kim tells her.

"Hope you enjoy Florida!"  Kagami says.  She thinks, to bad Adrien has not shown up.

"Marinette why so low?"  Luka asks.

"I thought Adrien would come too,"  Marinette says.

"Marinette, I am sorry his father would let him come," Sabine tells her.

Mr. Agreste sent a card that reads as follows:

Adrien has more important business to attend too.-Gabriel Agreste

"Oh, so his father hates me,"  Marinette says, then frowns.

"Marinette, girl I am sorry," Alya says.

Later, when the party ends Marinette leaves and goes to the airport. She frowns and thinks, Adrien I wish I could have said a real goodbye to you.

  Back to Adrien and Plagg...

"I will never get to say proper goodbye to her," Adrien says sadly.

"Why do not you just transform?"  Plagg asks. He thinks, Gabriel can not stop Chat Noir from seeing Marinette.

"I can not just blow my cover, you know!" Adrien says furious with Plagg.

"Marinette moves away today though and..." Plagg says.

"I know I let her down," Adrien says sadly.

"Some friend I am when  I can not even tell her goodbye,"  Adrien says.

Meanwhile, Marinette sighs.  She thinks, sorry Adrien that I never got to tell you the truth.

Marinette hears over the announcer's speakers,  "All flights for Florida now boarding at Gate B 6."

She grabs her things, along with her boarding pass as she steps toward the front desk area to Gate B 6.

"Good, Miss Dupain-Cheng, go ahead and have a nice flight!"  The desk clerk Mirelle says.

"Thanks, I am sure I will,"  Marinette says. She enters the plane and sees a huge row of seats.

Marinette takes her seat, unaware of what Adrien struggles with back home.

Adrien thinks about Marinette and feels like his stomach is full of butterflies. Plagg laughs and thinks it is about time he notices her.  He feels sorry for the holder he has for being so ignorant he can not see the truth in front of him.
