"I hope to see you at the party!"  Marinette says. She thinks, will his father let him come?

      "I will go ask my father," Adrien says. He thinks, hopefully, Dad will let me attend her party.

     "Ok, see you!"  Marinette says.  

   "See you later, Marinette!"  Adrien responds.

      
   Adrien runs home in a hurry. He smiles when he sees his father.  

     "Dad, could you make sure to clear my schedule for this Thursday?" Adrien asks.

   "What is so important about Thursday, son?" Gabriel asks.

    "A friend of mine has her going away party at two that afternoon, before she leaves for the airport at four,"  Adrien replies.

   "Well, it sounds like something important, maybe," Gabriel tells him. He frowns a bit.

   "May I go?" Adrien asks. He thinks, please say yes, father!

"It is not for that girl in plaid is it?"  Gabriel asks. He thinks she is not good for him.

"Alya, no!  The party is for the girl who made the derby hat, Marinette Dupain-Cheng." Adrien says.

  "Adrien, I am not sure how to tell you this son!"  Gabriel remarks. He looks rather ticked off now.

"Tell me what father?" Adrien asks.

   "Her party is pointless, so no!"  Gabriel tells him.

    "What, but why?" Adrien asks crestfallen.

"Adrien, I said no and that is my final answer," Gabriel says and walks away.

     Adrien is furious, and thinks, great how will I tell Marinette? He wonders how he will tell her goodbye now.
