22. Meg x Jake

The ginger-haired girl woke up on the dirty, damp ground; groaning. Could the Entity not spare a pillow or something?
"Hmm, which killer is it?" She murmured curiously, looking around the lonely farm.
So she was back at Coldwind Farm huh? The killer could be the Hillbilly, but the monsters have been known to play on each other's maps once in a while. Now that she thought about it, where were the others? Who had spawned in with her?
"Gah, too many questions!" She moaned to herself lightly as she took off running.
Meg Thomas had always been the fastest runner in her track team; and she was damn proud of it, using it to her advantage in these dangerous games.
She bumped into none other than the serious Jake, and giggled, knowing how to mess with him.
"Hey there buddy~" Meg greeted in a silly accent; her tone amiable.
"Hi Meg." Jake replied, unenthusiastically, and she pouted.
"Must you always be so cold?" She childishly complained as he kept walking.
"Must you always be so loud?" He responded sternly.
"You want the answer?" Meg asked him with a warm grin, and he hid a smile of his own.
Even though she was a completely hopeless adrenaline junkie, Meg was still bubbly and happy to cheer anyone up, at anytime; which made him start to like her from the very first moment he saw her.
Jake came from a wealthy background with pressure to do well academically and that never fit well with him, so instead he dropped out and went to live off-grid in the woods. Being alone for so long had slowly turned him into a serious and independent male; not having the time to make friends.
So whenever Meg messed with him, he never quite knew how to respond, not even understanding his own feelings of love blossom towards her.
"Get down, he's coming!" Jake suddenly hissed, and crouched down - pulling Meg down with him.
"Why do you always play so stealthily Jay? It's soooo boring!" She whined as she hopped back up.
The Hillbilly limped over with his heavy, rusty chainsaw and grisly hammer; both weapons dripping with blood.
"Meg, no, don't do what I think you're about to-"
"Hey Billy! Hey, hey, hey! Biiiiiiiilly!" She called obnoxiously, cupping her mouth as she waved at him.
"I got this Jakey, so why don't you go and do your little stealth plays?" Meg winked at him before sprinting away - the unnamed son right on her tail.
"Meg you fucking idiot." Jake growled to himself defensively, moving to the closest generator.
Why did he get so stressed out when the killer chases her? Why wouldn't Meg just play stealthy like him?
Meg stunned the snarling killer; cackling when he stamped on it.
"Not in the pallet-slamming mood ey? No problem, no problem, I can respect that." She started talking to him brightly, and began to circle the next pallet.
"Maybe pallet-looping is your cup of tea!" Meg looped the Hillbilly around the same pallet for the next five minutes - wasting as much time as possible.
He revved up his chainsaw and tried to knock her down with it, but she deftly dodged it; a smirk spreading across her face.
"I'm sorry, you must've mistaken me to be way over there. That never would've hit me boii~" She was amused when she made the killer enraged.
Three generators had been popped, and Meg was feeling pretty good about her playing style so far; she had distracted the killer for a long ass time, and that had almost gotten them out.
She wiped the sweat trickling down her forehead roughly, beginning to get a little tired as she hopped through the shack window. Meg's eyes widened when she saw Jake rifling through a chest.
"What are you doing here?! I thought you were doing gens?" She gasped, throwing the pallet down to give them more time.
"I wanted to plunder, and I got just what I needed to." Jake grinned and held up a green toolbox.
"That's great and all but the killer is still chasing me, and I don't want you to get caught in the crossfire." She huffed heatedly.
"I'll take him." He shrugged as she weirdly felt protective of him.
"No! I-uh-I mean, no thanks. You guys just do the gens and-"
"Meg you look exhausted, take a break." Her eyes widened when he interrupted her; his voice gentle for once.
"No way! You hardly get chased, I don't want you ge-" She stopped, blushing and feeling awkward.
They ran together when the Hillbilly broke the pallet, and Jake cocked his head at her.
"You don't want what?" He pressed quietly.
"I...don't want you getting hurt." Meg shyly muttered, not knowing how he'd react.
"Then you must know I feel the same way. Every time that son of a bitch chases you I feel so on edge Meg." Jake opened up, his cheeks darkening too.
Meg saw the Hillbilly rev up the chainsaw again, and threw a panicked look at Jake as the monster flew through the air with his loud weapon.
"GO!" Meg shoved Jake and let herself be mowed down from the chainsaw; her pained cries echoing throughout the farmland.
"Meg!" Jake shouted, his voice full to the brim with worry.
"Do the last gen. The Hillbilly always slugs one survivor to bait another. But I have a plan. Go!" She explained with her teeth gritted.
"But-"
"Don't argue with me 'Kay?! Go, Jake." Meg shot back breathlessly, and Jake nodded; upset.
He had to trust her - Meg knew what she was doing.
Sprinting around aimlessly, he spotted Ace and Claudette working on the generator, sighing in relief.
"Let's get this done quick." Jake ordered aggressively - not usually this snappy.
"Where's Meg? Still distracting the killer?" Ace wondered casually.
"No. Meg's down. She told me to finish the last generator." Jake roughly answered, and he nodded.
"I know Meg's plan, so don't worry Jake." Claudette assured him in her soft voice.
Jake just glared at the generator in front of him, barely concentrating. He fretted about Meg, terrified she might not make it out.
"Go open the exit gate, I'll meet you guys in a bit." Jake ordered coolly, when the gen turned on.
"No. Come with us, I promise you Meg will be alright. Her plan'll work." Claudette firmly disagreed, and he hesitated.
"I'll wait five minutes. If Meg isn't at the exit by then, I'm going to save her." Jake declared as he followed them.
Claudette and Ace were surprised to say the least; usually Jake didn't really care about anyone's survival but his own.
Ace opened the exit and then they all stood in it, waiting with bated breath. Minutes slowly passed and Jake eventually lost him temper.
"That's it! I'm going to find Meg, and I swear to god I won't let her-"
"-Won't let her appear in the exit without hearing you yell like an idiot?" A familiar and sarcastic voice cut him off.
His heart leapt when he saw the bouncy female standing there, his cheeks reddening.
"Sorry." He mumbled, embarrassed as they all walked out.
"Naw it's all good, it's nice to see how much you care about me actually." Meg chuckled and caught him off-guard with a merry hug.
"But-But how did you escape?" Jake questioned shyly, hugging her back with warmth.
"I found a sniper in a chest, so I cocked and loaded it. Then, when the time was right, I aimed and BAM. Shot right at the killer." She exclaimed dramatically, exaggerating a little.
Meg bursted out laughing at Jake's awestruck face, and realised he didn't know enough about other people to know that was a joke.
"Kidding. I had Adrenaline." She laughed, nudging him in the side.
"Oh, I see." He kept quiet, feeling awkward as he emotions played with him.
"Why so quiet? Did I say something? Wait...were you that worried about me?" Meg pushed, concerned about the silent male.
"Jake? Hey...buddy?" She poked his cheek; now genuinely worried.
Too many feelings clouded his mind and panicking, he pulled Meg into a kiss; pressing his lips against hers passionately.
"I-I know this is awkward, but I love you Meg." Jake stumbled over his words clumsily afterwards.
Now Meg had become the quiet survivor, her usual loud mouth falling mute as she blushed...hard. Jake turned away - feeling nervous that he'd upset her somehow, when she called after him;
"I love you too, you big goofball."
Yay this was so cute to make! - Cammie ^-^
