1. Jake x Claudette
"You really need to be more careful Jake." Claudette chided him quietly as she tended to his wounds.
"Don't worry about me so much Detty, I'm fine." Jake assured her airily, itching to get up.
"If I didn't worry, then who would?" She asked him sarcastically and he smiled.
"True that. I have to get going though, I have to sabotage the hooks." He insisted fearlessly.
"I'm almost done, so be quiet." Claudette rolled her eyes, her skilled fingers deftly tying up the ends of the bandages.
"Alright I'm finished. Go be a hero." She said after a few minutes and he immediately stood up.
"Thanks Claudette." Jake thanked the quiet brunette warmly, squeezing her hand.
"Yeah...you're welcome..." She moved her head to look at a dead generator, cheeks flushing.
Jake grinned cheekily - seeing her blush - and started to leave.
"Wait!" The dark haired female called urgently, grabbing his arm with both of hers.
"What is it Claudette?" He questioned, a little bit of surprise filtered into his voice.
"Be careful...please..." Claudette pleaded, her eyes full of worry.
His eyes softened as he took in her slightly shivering form.
"I promise." Jake swore softly and she released his arm lightly.
As she turned to walk to the silent machine - he seized her wrist, placed his other hand under her chin and kissed her on the mouth gently.
"J-Jake!" She gasped, blushing wildly.
"Promise me too." He whispered faintly, his unruly hair ruffling in the slight wind.
"I-I p-promise..." Claudette stammered nervously as he brushed a smudge of dirt off her cheek.
"Now let's escape, together." Jake said warmly, before jogging off; gripping his handy toolbox.
Claudette stood there for a few minutes, staring wistfully after him.
Then she started the generator whilst he got another hook a few minutes away.
Her heart thumped as the killer grew closer and she crouched behind some rocks; hoping to blend in.
Claudette screamed when a cleaver tore through her shirt - slicing her skin sharply.
Adrenaline shot into her veins and she took off sprinting, the killer hot on her trail.
Running through a pallet, she circled around the waste pile cleverly and threw it down just as he tried to land another hit; stunning him.
Claudette began frantically healing and in anger the killer stomped down on the barricade, breaking it.
Gasping for air, she ran pallet-to-pallet and kept self-healing fearfully.
Unfortunately, she ran out of pallets and the killer grew nearer.
She raced towards a window, panicking.
Would she make it? Would she?
Another harsh hit on her became her answer as she laid on the floor; in immense pain.
The killer climbed through the window, hoisted her onto his shoulder and began carrying her to the nearest hook.
"NO! JAKE!" Claudette cried for help in distress.
She heard a metal clang! from a few metres away and suddenly she got dropped onto the floor.
"J-Jake...help me please..." She whimpered hopelessly, trying to suppress her wounds until someone came to help.
The killer grunted in annoyance as he searched for the annoying survivor who broke yet another hook.
"Jake!" Claudette's eyes filled with tears when her crush and best friend bent down to help her.
"It's okay Detty, I've got you." He comforted her tenderly, fixing her wounds as best he could.
"Thank you." The words slipped out of her mouth gratefully.
The killer gave an enraged roar; seeing that a survivor had gotten his kill back up.
"Meg you know what to do!" Jake shouted loudly, helping Claudette up.
"On it Jake! Hey killer, want to go around the infinite some more?" Meg challenged the killer as she darted in front of him.
With an angry growl he tried to swing his bloody weapon at her, but she dodged easily.
Sticking her tongue out, she broke out into a sprint.
"C'mon Detty, let's get you out of here." Jake said urgently, grabbing her hand and she nodded.
"Right." She agreed - a little shaky - as he began to run, pulling her along with him.
A few minutes passed and he just kept on running, not saying a word.
"Jake, he's not following us." Claudette told him timidly.
"Jake."
"Jake!"
It was only on the third attempt he finally paid attention to her and stopped moving.
He wasn't even looking at her, which made her confused.
Did she do something wrong?
"Jake? Is something the matter?" She touched his shoulder delicately and he whirled around as soon as she did so.
Jake engulfed her into a frantic hug, his breathing uneven.
"Jake-?" Claudette called his name carefully.
"I'm...so sorry." He exclaimed ashamedly and she froze.
"Huh?"
"I was just so scared. I thought...I thought I wasn't going to get the hook in time to save you." Jake explained - his voice full of stress - and his eyes shimmered with anxiety.
"And the way you screamed my name, it made me feel like a failure. I didn't-no...I couldn't- protect you. I'm sorry Detty. I really am." He apologised guiltily.
Her eyes widened as she heard his regretful tone of voice and she hugged back.
"I don't understand why you're sorry." Claudette remarked in her delicate and low voice.
"Didn't you just hear me-?"
"You saved me. You protected me and you came when I needed you to. Just like a true friend and...something more..." She smiled, her cheeks heating up as she said the last part.
"You really think I protected you?" He asked in amazement, breaking the hug.
"I know you did, so stop being so harsh on yourself Jake." Claudette said kindly, readjsuting her thin-rimmed glasses.
"You're the best Detty." Jake replied in relief, running a hand through her dark hair.
"I...I love you Jake." She declared shyly, leaning on her tippy toes to kiss the messy-haired male.
He kissed her back and they stayed still for a minute; locked in each other's embrace.
"I love you too Claudette. I promise I'll keep on protecting you, okay?" He promised eagerly, his rough hand cradling the edge of her face.
"Okay."
