"Remy," Virgil whisper yelled as his boyfriend's face lit up with a smile. "Remy, I can't believe you talked me into this. We're going to get into so much trouble." Virgil got stopped by a yellow light and anxiously tapped his foot while he waited.

"My dear, you worry too much." Remy patted his front pocket and leaned back in his chair. "What are you so worried about?"

"What am I worried about?! What am I worried about. Is that really what you just asked me?" Remy chuckled and reached over to grab Virgil's knee, giving it a playful shake. "Don't try to charm your way out of this because I'm still upset and I'm asking you a question but if you start being cute I'm not gonna be mad anymore and my question will never be answered."

"Fine, I'm sorry Vee." Virgil took a deep breath and nodded, pulling forward as the light switched colors. "I am, but I want to do this. It's the same as you dying your hair."

"But this is permanent, and might I add, I had permission." Remy sighed fondly and and shook his head. "And it was legal. This is not."

"I'm not going to get arrested for getting a tattoo."

"Your Dad might ground you until the day you die. And then he'll think I'm a bad influence, and tell my Dads and they'll be mad at me and ground me forever an-"

"Babe," Remy quietly interjected as he grabbed the hand Virgil had off of the wheel. "You're just giving me a ride. And I don't think my Dad is going to be that mad."

"Why?"

"Because, I lied..This note isn't forged I actually have his permission," Remy laughed loudly. Virgil let go of Remy's hand and punched his shoulder.

"Remy you jerk! I was fr-" Virgil dragged out the 'r' mentally reminding himself to not cuss. "-reaking scared that your Dad was going to be pissed and make you break up with me."

"Ow, ow okay I'm sorry..But it was kinda funny." Remy continued to laugh and eventually Virgil started laughing too.

"Curse you for making me laugh," Virgil mocked, trying to sound like his older brother.

"You know you love me. It's the next exit by the way." Virgil turned on his blinker and slowly switched lanes.

"I do love you. But that was not funny," Virgil tried to sound upset, but he wasn't convincing anyone.

"It was and you know it."

——

"You want me to do this?" Remy nodded as he smiled at his boyfriend who was typing away on his phone. Probably telling Patton he made it here safely, he guessed with a small snot.

"The first one on me, the second ob him."

"Alright, is that boy coming back with you," the blonde artist asked as she placed the signed note into a folder, and the small paper in her apron pocket.

"Yes ma'am. Vee, come on." Virgil looked shocked and then pointed at himself.

"Why am I coming with you?" Remy shrugged and put his hands in his jean pockets.

"Moral support." Virgil smiled and pocketed his phone before joining his boyfriend and following the lady behind a small wooden door.

Most of the time when people think of tattoo places, it's scary, dark and everyone working there seems to be in a bad mood. But Remy found this place because he knew it was different. Small tan candles sat on warm oak dressers that had different sized picture books that contained pictures of smiling patients. All around there was a sense of calming and Remy liked it better anyways. He didn't think he would've been able to go through with it in the other environment.

"You know, I got a note from your parents too." Virgil's head practically snapped as he turned to face Remy.

"No..No you didn't because I don't want to get a tattoo." Remy nodded and they walked in silence for a moment.

"Do you remember when we were 7?" Virgil nodded, of course he remembered. He pretty much wanted to live at Remy's house at that age. He knew him like he knew no one else.

"What are you specifically thinking about?"

"Well, it was about 4 am and," Remy reached into his back pocket and pulled out a folded piece of orange construction paper, Virgil recognized it immediately.

"You..You kept that?" Remy nodded and gently unfolded it . IT was precious to him and he didn't want it to tear or crinkle any more than it already had.

"Can we have a moment please ma'am?" The lady nodded and motioned towards the door.

"Just come in here when you're ready." Remy looked over at Virgil and handed him the list.

"Of course I kept it."

Virgil and Remy's Bucket List-Created November 3rd

- drink three slushies in one day
- get goldfish and name them dog
- make a scientific discovery
- SIX FLAGS
- make it to high school
- learn how to do a cartwheel
- get matching tattoos
- get Virgil out of his house

Virgil laughed at some of them as memories of the day they wrote it flashed back. He looked over at Remy when he read the tattoo one and didn't continue reading. "Are we seriously doing this?"

"We've done everything else on the list." Virgil looked down at the last one and ran his pointer finger over his shaky 7 year old writing. They had done everything on the list, and his goldfish was still alive.

"Wait, no we haven't had three slushies in one day."

"What do you think we're doing after we get the tattoos?" Virgil laughed again and looked towards the back room.

"What are we doing?"

"You'll see," Remy informed with a horribly executed wink as he entered the door, Virgil at his heels.

"Alright loves, who's going first?"

"This idiot," Virgil mumbled as he pointed at Remy.

"Yup. I'm so ready." The woman giggled and gestured towards a comfortable looking chair.

"Alright, good to hear. My name is Jessica, just thought it'd be easier to trust me if you knew my name." Virgil stood there, biting his nails as Jessica pulled the needle out of her apron and a piece of paper. She placed it one a nearby table and told Remy to take deep breaths, then she started.

——

"R-Remy I..I can't I changed my mind am I allowed to change my mind," Virgil whispered as he paced around the room. Jessica had taken a short break, and Virgil was next. "I-I mean, did you really get Patton's consent, and Logan's?"

"Virgil, you've called them five times and they've said yes. Repeatedly. You're gonna be fine baby." Virgil wanted to look at Remy's to see if she did a good job, but he had a bandage over it for now, and apparently peaking was against the rules. "And you're not allowed to look at yours either. It's gonna be a surprise." Virgil groaned and placed his head in his hands. As cute as this idea was, the actual action was terrifying.

"Alright, we ready?" Virgil silently sat in the chair and nodded. His face was pale and his palms were sweaty, but he was ready. "It's only gonna hurt a little bit kid. I promise." Deep breaths, and a needle.

- 3 hours later-

"We've done it, three slushies in one day." Virgil looked down at his empty cups and laughed.

"We're gonna have a sugar crash."

"Yeah, so we gotta get to my place quickly so we can crash together and not on the road." Virgil looked out into the road, the sun shining around him like an orb, with the cups all around him. Remy took out his phone and sneakily took a picture, it was too perfect of a moment and he definitely wanted it to last longer. "Ready too look?" Virgil nodded and looked down at the bandage on his wrist. "Three, two, one." Carefully, they both took off the wrappings and placed them in one of the cups to throw away later. Remy's said-

"he smells like lemongrass and sleep"

And Virgil's said-

"he taste like apple juice and peach"

Both were in a typewriter like font, and Virgil loved it. It was subtle enough that it wouldn't attract too much attention, but so amazing and meaningful.

"Thank you Remy," Virgil leaned over and planted a warm kiss on Remy's soft cheek. "I love you." Remy blushed and intertwined Virgil's cold fingers with his.

"I love you too."
