Thirty years!

I've been living on this planet for thirty years and through these years, I've learned many things.

There are many skills that I can perform exceptionally.

There are many people I went head on and won.

There were many situations, good, bad, strange to unworldly I've been and survived.

But what happened to me today was first and probably the last any person can see and experience.

The day started mundane although it's a Sunday. Sunday alone is nothing special but today especially holds a great prominence in my life.

The day – Nah, the night I and Cerberus consummate our wedding.

"You want to put forth a proposal before her before going all-in with her? Finally, you saw the light of your life." I shook my head when my own brother with whom I share blood mocked me.

But then again, I somehow made peace with Cerberus so these days I don't get that irked from before.

Somehow, I see why my family love her so much. She is one antique piece!

Although I feel mortified to accept it, even I seemed to start liking her from way before. It's just that my liking for her or love for her started from accepting my fate.

Once I did that, I felt liberated.

As if freedom has possessed me forever.

"Just arrange rings, flowers and some wine. I'll do the rest." I muttered.

"Sounds simple."

"She likes simple."

"What about your speech?" I looked at him with a raised eyebrow and shrugged casually.

"Don't need it. I happen to be a natural speaker. Eloquent and effective."

"You might still want to make some grand arrangements to impress her and seduce her into your arms. Girls love big."

I have enough big. That compensates every other thing. Granting, I don't understand why girls like such show off and grand gestures.

What would colorful lights, beautiful flowers and flower pathway along with eye blinding food would benefit them?

They cannot take home those lights and space to enjoy it every day.

They cannot keep the flowers for more than two days.

They cannot walk on the flower path every day. Funny, that on one side they handle flowers with such delicate touches as if they were a living person and on the other side, they walk on their petals happily.

Lastly, girls don't eat beyond the fields of cabbage and carrot. They maintain special diets on proposal days as if they are monks.

Given their personalities, why spend a lot of effort and time and disappoint them with these special gestures for only one day?

Better keep it simple and let them forget about it easily.

Less effort, more productivity!

"Not needed." I answered back and walked back into the guestroom that Nanna is staying in. She was here from a couple of days and she mingled with our family right away.

Being the eldest, I saw Papa and Mama give her the utmost respect for the first time. My grandparents from both sides vacated to heaven when I was small so I did know my parents had it in them to give their elders such a place in family.

Mama and Papa were always the eldest in the family so seeing them serve Old Nanna was pretty amusing.

Truth to be told, Nanna is more active and livelier that Mama and Papa for their age!

"Nanna," I knocked the door and heard a hum from the other side. As I walked in, I saw Nanna, Lenore and Lucas playing monopoly.

"Nanna, Is Ariche not here?" She raised her head from the game and shook her head negatively and went back to the game.

"She went out to meet a client. She'll be back in an hour." Lucas answered offhandedly keeping his eyes on the game.

I nodded and went back to my bedroom to get ready for the proposal. One hour is enough time to prepare everything.

I scanned my walk-in wardrobe and picked out a captivating blue three-piece suit and a matching tie. No doubt I look like a Greek God in this piece.

Am I too handsome for her to handle?

I sighed feeling sorry for her eyes that will bulge out after seeing me shining like a Sun.

It took me fifteen minutes to get ready. The sun is already setting so I asked the kitchen to arrange a small dinner table in my room for both of us to eat before getting into bed for a tumble.

When came out to the backyard, Nereus has already arranged flowers and music along and on the table is a box with couple platinum rings.

"Are you nervous?"

"No."

"You sure you don't want to rehearse what you want to say?" He asked again to which I confirmed with a nod.

I go with the flow.

"Mama and Iona are decorating your bedroom as we speak. After tonight, both of you shall tour Asia for honeymoon."

"Honeymoon?"

"Courtesy of Papa."

"Eh, He is too much sometimes." Nereus chuckled which screamed that he agrees to what I said.

"Yes, alright." Nereus pressed the button on the earpiece and gave me lopsided smirk to me.

Ah, she's here I see.

"All the best with the proposal. I told the staff to stay out of the backyard till tomorrow so – enjoy?" Nereus patted my shoulder and walked away not before switching off the lights.

I held the bouquet in my hands and waited for her to enter the backyard and I shall press the remote to shine spotlight on her as she walked to me.

Alright Aegeus, this is it!

From today on-wards, there is no turning back. I will be tied down with one woman and shall never turn back to look at another.

I will be duly married in every sense.

I will be starting a family of my own with her in near future.

I will be teasing, tolerating and teaching her from hereon.

With every such promise and realization running through my mind, I tapped my hands on the bouquet when I head the click of heels coming towards me.

I adjusted my tie again and cleared my throat. Once I heard her closer to me, I pressed the button on the remote and waited for the light to shine on her.

My eyes blinded at the sudden gush of brightness. I rubbed my eyes and slowly opened them to adjust them to the light accordingly. That was when I realized that the damn light malfunctioned and shone on me.

"Mr. Beggar?" I heard her faint voice calling me out.

"I know you are scared of dark. I planned this light for you but it brightened on me." I answered trying to find her in the dark.

"Ah yes, I once decided to fear dark." She sounded muddled, making me chuckle.

I took the time to my advantage and press the remote button again to focus the light on her but nothing happened. The light is still on me.

Fudge! Everything should go wrong just at the right time!

"Mr. Beggar," She called out again and I got ready to tell her what I wanted to say anyhow.

"Ariche Gil, I –" I started but was cut off by her.

"Mr. Beggar, Aegeus Sterculius Ioannou, I saw you in the park for the first time and I really liked you." Confusion took over me when she started talking.

Say What?

I should be talking right now, shouldn't I?

"I did not pity you for your state at that time because I liked you for what and how you are. Even though I didn't know you were someone else at that time, you were the first and last person who made it to my dreams." Ah, okay!

"Mr. Beggar," And suddenly the vast backyard of my mansion lit up. The lawn which was just the usual was now decorated with colorful lights. There're flowers everywhere and the plants around are lit up in different colors.

A soft traditional instrumental music played along and just when I awed enough at marvelous looking garden, I turned towards the lady in question only to see her dressed up in a sea blue mermaid fit dress with a slower crown adorning her head.

The moment our eyes met, several flower petals started raining on both of us and boy did they smell good.

The flowers of different origins blended easily with each other and puffed out a smell that soothed my mind and heart.

"I adopted you as my husband because I knew you would be a great man for me. Against all the odds, I adopted married you because we have good rapport in our personalities. Your plus compensates my minus and my ideas compensates your tardiness. I felt that we suit each other."

Uh, I got the point although I find her mocking me somewhere in her speech.

She took few steps towards me and when she is just a hand distance from me, she suddenly knelt down on one knee before me.

This is – unexpected!

Was I the one to propose her?

But looking around, she made better arrangements than I did.

"We are two bodies, one and half soul; two brains and two hearts on one dissection table; two pillows with one blanket; I, Ariche Gil, express my love for you with these rings." She completed pulling out an old box of two rings that seems to be her parents.

"With these rings on our fingers, with those fingers on our hearts, with that heart calling for each other, with each other as an answer, with an answer that never fails us –" She smiled brightly at me which brought a smile on my face too.

I was supposed to do this but somehow, I feel so happy that I'm getting a proposal in turn.

Is this how girls feel when proposed?

"Will you participate in making love with me."

She proposed me successfully no matter how dramatic and weird her speech is.

"Forever."

With that, she pushed a ring on my stiff finger and pulled me down my tie as she pressed a kiss on my lips.

That very moment I learnt something else about Cerberus;

She beats me in eloquence!
