Chapter 18: Parent Day
"Boys and girls, guess what we're doing tomarrow?" Cara's teacher said.
"What?" The kids exclaimed.
"You're going to bring one of your parents to school, and introduce them to the class!"
The kids began talking loudly, but Cara stayed quiet.
The teacher clapped her hands. "Quiet, everybody, quiet! Remember to tell your parent! Have a great day!"
Cara waited for one of the Fab 5 to pick her up, but while she sat there, a girl came up to her.
"I bet you're not gonna bring anyone tomarrow." She said.
"Huh?" Cara said.
"You don't have any parents."
"Yeah I do."
"Nuh uh." The other girl insisted. "They're not your real parents. They just adopted you cause they felt bad."
Cara looked at the floor, as she saw a glimpse of Karamo at the door.
"Hi, Dada." She said quietly.
"Hi, honey!" Karamo exclaimed, picking her up. "How was school?"
"Good."
"Your teacher told me what tomarrow is!" Karamo said, as they walked to the car.
Cara didn't reply, as she got in her car seat.
"One of us gets to come to your school!" Karamo said. "That's exciting, right?"
"Yeah."
When they got home, Cara went straight to her room.
"Is she okay?" Jonathan asked.
Karamo shrugged. "She was weird in the car."
"She's always weird, what was she doing?" Antoni asked.
"She wouldn't talk to me! I kept asking her about her day and the whole parent day thing tomarrow, and she wouldn't talk!"
Mitchell, who had been walking by stopped. "Parent day?"
"Yeah." Antoni said. "There's this thing tomarrow at Cara's school where the kids bring one of their parents to class."
Mitchell leaned against the wall. "Has it ever dawned on you three that she doesn't have parents?"
Jonathan stared at him. "But we're her parents!"
"Yeah, I know that, and she knows that. What she also knows is that most people in her school have a mom and a dad." Mitchell said. "Maybe two moms, maybe two dads. But not five guys!"
Karamo nodded. "Should I give her one of my famous talks?"
Everyone nodded, as he got up and went into Cara's room.
A few seconds later, he came back out.
"Okay, we have a problem." Karamo said.
"What's up?" Mitchell asked.
"She doesn't want to talk to me." He said. "She wants to talk to Tan."
"I got this." Antoni said. "TANNY! GET IN HERE NOW!"
Tan walked in. "Good grief, what is it now?"
"Cara wants to talk to you, it's kinda important." Karamo said.
"Oh, okay." Tan said, grabbing the doorknob to Cara's room. "Hello, love, may I come in?"
Antoni, Mitchell, Karamo, and Jonathan sat around nervously, waiting to hear how to convo went.
"How did it go?" Jonathan asked, as Tan walked back out.
"She said that she didn't want us to come to parent day because we're not her real parents, and a girl at her school told her so." Tan said.
"I'm gonna stuff my heels up her-" Jonathan began, before Karamo cut him off.
"The kid's five or six, Jonny!" He said. "Chill!"
"But she was mean to our angel!"
"Still."
Antoni was quiet, but broke his silence with a question. "So, what do we do now?"
Karamo grinned. "I've got an idea!" He said in a sing/song voice.
"Oh boy, brace yourself." Mitchell said.
"Shhh! I need to hear this!" Jonathan said.
"Okay, guys, here's the plan..."

Cara's class applauded as one of the little boy's mom went to the back of the room.
"Thank you, Mrs. Takiama for coming!" Cara's teacher said. "Lee, thanks for bringing your mom to class!"
The Takiama family smiled.
"Has anyone else not gone up yet?" The teacher asked. "Cara, did you bring anyone?"
The little girl was about to shake her head, when there was someone knocking on the door.
The teacher opened the door, the Fab 5 stumbling in.
"So sorry we're late." Antoni gasped.
"There was traffic." Bobby said.
"Also we couldn't find the classroom." Karamo said.
"We're Cara's parents." Jonathan said.
"Today is parent day, right?" Tan asked.
The teacher nodded. "Yeah, she's right here."
Parents and kids alike stared at the five men, as they went to Cara's side.
"We're here, sweetie!" Karamo said.
"But...I didnt want you to come." Cara said.
"But we did," said Jonathan. "Cause we love you."
"And screw whoever says bad things about our family." Antoni chimed in. "Cause who cares?"
Cara smiled, leading her parents to the front of the classroom. "My name is Cawa, and dis is my famwy."
The five waved.
"Dis is Jonafan, he's my mommy." Cara said. "He does haiwr, and he's weally funny."
Jonathan grinned. "Hi!"
"Dis is Antoni, he's my papa. He loves doggies and he's gweat at making bwonies."

Cara skipped over to Bobby. "Dis is Bobby! He's my dad, an he's gweat at drawing!"
Bobby smiled and waved.
And last but not least, Cara held up her arms so Tan could pick her up. "This is my daddy, Tan. He's cool, an he loves clothes!"
Tan gave Cara a kiss, smiling.
"Dis is my famiwy, and screw anyone who doesn't wike us!" The little girl exclaimed.
The teacher smiled. "Guys, thanks so much for coming in! Cara, I'm happy your family's so cool!"
Cara grinned, sitting down.
The girl who had teased her leaned over. "They're not your real parents."
"So what? You have two, I have five!" Cara said. "Screw you!"
Jonathan grinned. "We taught her well!"
