Chapter 17: Tea Party
Bobby, Karamo, and Jonathan had been fixing the kitchen countertop, but were starting to get annoyed at each other.
"Jonathan, you're not doing anything." Bobby said, wiping off sweat.
"I'm supervising!" Jonathan said, as he sat on the kitchen table.
"That's not helping."
"Does anyone know where Antoni is?" Karamo asked.
"He, Tan, and Mitchell went to Sarah's softball practice." Bobby said.
"Right."
Cara walked by, carrying her toys under her arms.
"Hey, sweetie, what're you doing?" Karamo asked.
The little girl looked up. "Can't tell!"
Bobby smiled. "Okay, have fun with whatever you're doing!"
Cara smiled back, walking to her room.
"Back to the countertop." Bobby said. "Why did I ask you two to help me?"
"Because you have no one else." Karamo said.
"Trust me when I say I don't wanna do this as much as you want me here." Jonathan said, flicking his hair over his shoulder.
An hour and a half later, Cara ran up to the three men.
"Dada!" She exclaimed, tugging at Karamo's long coat.
"Yeah, cutie?" Karamo said.
"Come see what I did!" Cara exclaimed.
"Oh no, last time she said that she painted the walls." Bobby said, remembering that traumatic moment.
"Can Bobby and I come too?" Jonathan asked.
"Yeah! C'mon!" Cara exclaimed, grabbing their hands, dragging the three to her room.
"Wow." They said.
"You set this up yourself?" Karamo asked, gesturing to the tea party setup.
All of Cara's stuffed animals were propped up against or on her bed, coffee mugs and glasses from the kitchen sitting next to them.
"Yeah!" Cara exclaimed.
"Why does the toy panda have a shot glass?" Bobby whispered, getting elbowed in the ribs from Jonathan.
"This is amazing, Caz!" Jonathan exclaimed.
"Fanks, Mommy!"
"She called me mommy!" Jvn exclaimed. "She called me mommy!"
Bobby grinned. "That's great." He turned around to go back to his project, when he felt something grab his leg.
"Cara, what're you doing?" He asked.
Cara looked up at him with big eyes. "Pwease stay."
Bobby smiled. "If you insist."
"Yay!" Cara exclaimed. "Dada, sit wif Bear."
"On the bed?" Karamo asked.
Cara nodded, her curls bouncing.
"Don't knock anything over!" Jonathan said.
"I'm trying not to." Karamo said, sitting down gently next to Cara's large pink bear from IKEA.
"Dad, you sit wif Pinky." Cara said, pointing to the toy pig.
"Me?" Bobby said.
The little girl nodded.
"She called me Dad!" He exclaimed.
"Welcome to the club!" Karamo said.
"Where do I sit, hunny?" Jonathan asked.
"Dere." Cara said, crawling onto his lap.
"Are you gonna serve tea on my lap?" Jonathan asked.
"Yeah." Cara said.
"This is too wholesome and cute." Bobby said.
"Wait till she learns what you drink out of these." Karamo said, holding up a wine glass.
"Who wants tea?" Cara said.
The three men raised their hands.
Cara beamed at them, pouring some sort of liquid into their glasses.
"Cheers!" They all said, taking a sip.
Jonathan gagged, Karamo began coughing, and Bobby spat his back out.
"What the hell is in this?" Karamo said.
Cara had taken a few sips herself, making faces.
"You can spit it out, honey." Jonathan said.
Cara spit the drink out. "Yucky."
"What did you put in this?" Bobby asked.
Tears welled up in the little girl's eyes. "I don't know."
"Where's the stuff for it?" Karamo asked.
Cara pointed to a corner of her room, everyone's eyes going there.
"Oh sh-t." Bobby said, holding up a bottle of vodka.
"I found chocolate syrup." Karamo said. "And milk."
Jonathan looked at Cara. "Sweetie, how much of that did you drink?"
"Only a wittle." Cara said, making a face. "Is yucky."
"Hey, how about you and me make some hot chocolate, and we can try this over, okay?" Bobby said.
Cara smiled. "Okay!"
"I'll clean this out." Karamo said, pointing to the cups and tea pot.
"And I'll sit here and look pretty." Jonathan said.
"Like usual." Bobby said, picking Cara up, carrying her to the kitchen.
-------------
"Okay, hot chocolate is done!" Bobby exclaimed. "Let's try this again."
"Okay." Jonathan said, taking a gulp of the hot drink.
"Jonny!" Karamo exclaimed, but the longer haired man had already spit the drink out.
"HOOOOTTTTT!" Jonathan screamed. "It's so hot!"
"Yeah, I just made it!" Bobby exclaimed. "Hey, does anyone know where Cara is?"
Cara came over, one of Jonathan's pink skirts wrapped around her, a pink plastic tiara on her head. "Do I wook pwetty?"
"Aw!" Bobby said, taking Cara into his arms. "You look great, hon."
"She's wearing my new skirt." Jonathan said through gritted teeth.
"Jonny, chill." Karamo said, turning back to Cara, smiling. "You look good, now let's have some hot chocolate, okay?"
Cara nodded, but grabbed Bobby's hand. "I do it!"
"Oh, you wanna do it?" He asked, handing her the kettle of the drink. "Karamo, help her, it's heavy. "
Karamo helped Cara pour the drink into cups, letting the little girl pass them around.
"This is great hot chocolate, Bobbers." Jonathan said.
Cara smiled. "I want more!"
"Hold it!" Karamo said. "You've already had two cups, missy."
"Yeah?"
"If you have more you'll be crawling on the ceiling!"
"She's a kid." Jonathan said, handing her his cup.
"Jonny." Karamo said in a warning tone, but Cara was already drinking it.
"She'll be having a sugar high." Bobby sighed.
Cara grinned. "Good party?"
"Yeah!" Jonathan said.
"Was it lit?"
Karamo inhaled his hot chocolate, coughing.
"It was what?" Bobby said.
"Lit!"
"Where did you hear the word lit?" Karamo asked.
"Sawah."
"When has Sarah said lit?" Jonathan asked.
Speak of the devil, Sarah ran in. "GUYS! MY GAME WAS SO LIT!"
"Touché." Jonathan said, raising his eyebrows.
"My party was lit!" Cara exclaimed.
Sarah looked at her sister. "She learned to say lit! That's so dope!"
Karamo sighed. "What have our girls gotten into?"
